Ratings_icons No answer after three phone calls

Bruce P.

I needed a computer repair at the Best Buy in Denver on E. Arkansas. I followed the phone menu to "Geek Squad." No answer. Tried again right away. No answer. Tried again after 15 minutes. No answer. I decided I didn't like their service enough to try again.

I sent a version of this to the Best Buy corporation

I should think that as Best Buy?s monopolizing choke hold over a huge percentage of the electronics and computer retail market begins to tighten you would be able to afford jobs for the consummate professionals you have displaced. I had the displeasure of engaging with 10 or 12 computer specific sales associates and members of the Geek Squad. All they could do was sweat and fumble like a bunch drama club students after junior prom. Every employee I dealt with proceeded to recommend and grantee products that were not only incorrect for the task at hand but also incompatible with my computer. I don?t ask for much: cup of coffee in the morning a Highlife at night and roof over my head but it sure would be great if when I went into, what is now, one of the only computing and electronics stores in our not-so-tiny metropolitan area that I can get a straight answer out of a valid employee. Over the course of 3 different trips in 3 days I was shuffled around and handed off from one employee to another like Grandma Tilley?s colostomy bag changing duties after Thanksgiving dinner. It was a descent through a gauntlet of inadequacy as everyone I spoke with became more and more inept until somehow I found myself voicing this very complaint to a front door security guard, whom several employees had identified as a manager. I wouldn?t want to buy a cheeseburger from these clowns much less spend thousands of dollars on complex machinery. Maybe if you guys had a drive-thru window your employees would feel more comfortable in the work place.

In the end I purchased a working product from a competitor ?the Mac Outlet? who, oddly enough, chooses to staff competent and informed employees.

Pros: Adjacent to Jamba Juice

Cons: everything else

Ratings_icons Never Again!!!!!

I took My hard drive into best buy to get the data retrieved and they ended up formatting the hard drive!!!! Deleting everything on it Costing me a lot of time and Money! I ended up taking the hard drive to a local computer repair store "The computer Geekz" and they were able to get some of my files for me when best buy told me it was hopeless. I suggest to anyone thinking about using this over priced service to check out some of the smaller local computer repair stores near you at least they seem to care and are not held back by a corporate face!

Ratings_icons what customer service?

gumbosally

it took 11 minutes to speak with a human being about a television pickup. on my first effort, the toll-free number, i was told to push "5" for help with television. when i did, i was told i'd pushed an incorrrect button. thinking i'd screwed up, i dialed it again. same results. when i came to my sense and called the local store direct, and pushed the requisite buttons, someone picked up the phone, laid it down for 2 minutes, then hung it up. on my second call, the phone rang 8 times before a sales rep answered. he was courteous, but it did take 11 minutes, too long when i'm spending my money.

Ratings_icons They try hard

reitem

BestBuy has great prices, and the managers will go out of their way to help you. We purchased a digital camera with 4 yr warrenty which after 2 years came back from the first repair only working marginally. They sent it back again, and the manager gave us an excellent loaner for a month for a trip to Greece while the second repair was effected (not back yet). They are interested, and they care, but you need to speak to the right people. Its a big organization, and not all their help is helpful (or knowledgeable), but don't give up. Find the right person.

I would never buy a cd from bestbuy again, I use to go in there but I could never get any help trying to find what I wanted, they need to hire some real help that will actually want to help you find something that you are looking for.

Cons: No help, Rude customers, Always busy

Ratings_icons Sorry Service

Best buy does offer great prices. It's like they say you get what you pay. With the cheap prices you get cheap service.
I have had multiple problems with Best Buy. I have to diagree on this one. Media PLay would be the way to go. They offer the replay membership which pays for itself in savings, and not to mention great customer service with prices that are comparible to Best Buy.
