Message from Wynkoop Brewing Company

The saying at Wynkoop goes, "Park it here," because there's so much to do at the Wynkoop that when you can park it once and have a great time all evening there's no reason to leave. Wynkoop has fanstastic food, homemade beer, pool, darts and tabletop shuffleboard. There's a comedy club right downstairs, and you can even book a banquet for up to 200 people. So park it at the Wynkoop. Or get off the Light Rail two blocks away and park it here without parking at all.

In Short
The smell of wheat and hops greets you at the door, along with the din of folks drinking and laughing around the bar. A large dining room offers comfortable booths and several tables, easily pushed together to accommodate large groups. For a meal, go for the generous serving of seared-rare tuna or charbroiled elk medallions. To wash it all down, try one of Wynkoop speciality brews augmented with seasonal ingredients.

Key Points

  • Lunch
  • Dinner
  • Late nigh fun

The Inside Scoop

  1. When to Go - The kitchen closes at 11pm during the week, midnight on weekends.
  2. Parking - Grab a spot across the street (18th and Wynkoop) in the garage for $6.
  3. Where to Sit - The curbside patio--with a nice western view--makes for a great afternoon or evening sipping spot.
  4. The Extras - The surrounding area boasts several quality art galleries, but most close around 6pm. If you get there early, take a stroll around the block.

Great place to hangout!

by Shannon A. | insider Insider | Rank: 27,098

The Wynkoop has good food - try the fish & chips! The beer is fantastic and fresh. I've held several work functions there - holiday party and day out to the ball game - both were excellent. The service is fantastic and the atmosphere is comfortable and casual. Great place for pool, shuffleboard & darts.

One of the Best Places in Denver

by Rajeev M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 530

The Wynkoop Brewery has something for everyone. The bottom floor is a Comedy Club offering shows throughout the week.

The main floor is the restaurant. The food can be pricey, but it never disappoints. The appetizers are good for a late night snack as well.

The top floor is where all the fun happens. The pool hall is the finest in Denver. There are also two shuffleboard tables and several dart boards for entertainment. The Microbrews are among the best you'll find and the service is first class all the time. Whether it is a company gathering or a relaxed night out on the town, you'll find the place to be at the Wynkoop Brewery.

Great Pool for Junior Players

by Deb W. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,678

The Wynkoop and WPBA Professional player, Melissa "The Viper" Little, have done some great work with providing high quality pool leagues and tournaments for junior pool players. They also have some great food at reasonable prices and are located in beautiful downtown Denver.

So much fun!

by Thea S. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 188

I have always loved the Wynkoop and it's one of my favorite places to hang out when I'm back in Denver. It's got some great brews, the food is really good and the ambiance is totally casual but upscale as well. Fun for people watching.

Fantasic food, atmosphere and beers!

by Margaret G. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,570

I have been coming here for years and every time I go I am impressed with how tasty the food and beer is and how professional and nice the staff are. My favourites are the fish and chips, buffalo burger (when I ate meat), their spinach artichoke dip was the first in town and remains the best! Their specialty beers are always tasty but the Railyard Ale is a wonderful standby :) I brought my little one there and the waitress spent quite a long time making sure /he/ was happy too!

From an experianced diner

by kitchennightmare

I took my wife here for her 30th birthday. So, they don't take reservations on the weekends and we were good consumers and made adjustments. We arrived and hour before our party was to arrive and was told that the wait was an hour, no problem. An hour and a half later I checked back with the host stand and was told that the GM of the Wynkoop came in with his own private party and took the seating area the host stand was reserving for us! We waited another 30 minutes only to have our party broken up over three tables. Not one person came by to apologize or offer and compensation for the horrible experiance, oh that's right the GM was to busy pushing around paying customers and feeding his own ego to care about anyone else.

Good food, atrocious beer.

by im1dermike

Food: Excellent bar food at very good prices.
Service: Sub par, both nights.
Atmosphere/Layout: Great. A beautiful interior. VERY nice place and close to the Rockies stadium.
Beer: BAD! I was surprised. By far the worst beer I've ever had at any brew pub/brewery. I tried all, but one or two of the beers they have on tap (nearly a dozen). Their stout was okay and a few others were drinkable, but extremely unremarkable. Others were just god awful. Undrinkable. When I tell someone in my party a beer "tastes like food" when he asked how it was, you know you're in trouble.

Not impressed

by smiller560

The restaurant was extremely warm, the music was way to loud. The waitress didn't speak above a whisper, the fish and chips were very disappointing. Not worth the money. With all the other restaurants in the area you would be wise to try them instead.

Cons: to warm in restaurant, way to loud.

My new favorite restaurant in Denver!

by mkrea

While walking around LoDo and the 16th Street Mall, my husband & I happened upon this place. Being lovers of great and unique beers, we thought it was worth a try at least. Boy, were we blown away. The beer is great (some of the best we've had), and the food is really good too. We actually expected to pay alot more given the amount of beer and food we'd ordered, but were pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived. Service was great on a busy Saturday evening, and everyone seemed really friendly. I can't wait to get back to Denver to revisit this place!

Delicious Beer and Fun Appetizers

by moodeous2

The wide array of beers and history of the Wynkoop are definitely the best reasons to visit and I think they hold their own as the only reason you'll need. Everything from standard ales to framboise is offered and if you've got the time, money and a ride home you should try each and every one! The appetizers are fillng and a good value. There is plenty of seating, but bellying up the bar for a game is a fun experience and a good way to meet lots of people.

Pros: Historic brew pup with amazing beer selection

Group events, pool and games and great date place

by expresso1

I've spent many a first date at Wykoop and last summer brought my wedding party up to the 2nd floor for the night before the wedding party - really fun and even better since the smoking ban! It's such good beer, food is OK, but the fun is really where it is. The food is pretty average - we actually got fish and chips where the fish was still frozen inside once. Great Calamari though!

Pros: Great Beer, Great Ambience - cool relaxed place to hang out - great for very large groups

Cons: Food average at best, not that romantic, but no pressure scene

Dysfunctional Restaurant Policies

by dr2tom

No food in the banquet room. They let you order the food but won't deliver it. Also, I've had three bad meals in a row there.

Good food, beer is hit or miss

by domingo_x

Reservations are borderline necessary on the weekend - just so you know! Good "bar food" but with a little more character and variety than similar places. Think of it as CB&Potts on steroids.

Service is usually solid, but sitting at a table near the bar (not at the bar) will get you ignored.
Beers are hit or miss. The lighter beers and ales are so-so at best, but the darker varieties are excellent. They usually mix in 4-5 seasonal or smaller batch brews along with staples like the Chili beer. In the summer months the selection suffers a bit with mostly lighter selections. On the other hand, they have had excellent porters, barleywines, and even a schwartzbier.

Makes for a great place to eat before/after a game, show, or just an evening out.

Pros: Dark beers, bar food, prices

Cons: Lighter beers
