Kudos to you kim p. I was on the same boat as you were. No work, no insurance. Though times! The comfort dental gold plan and Dr. Jolstad helped out a lot!!! WOnderful staff, laid back and comfortable. Saved me money for sure. Other places where ready to jump on me and even got pissed when I did not schedule with their office. Thank you guys.

Comfort Dental Cherry Creek- Good deal and good care

by kim p.

I am what you would call a "fearful" patient. This place was a life saver after I finally caved in and decided to get a couple of overdue root canals. The problem: I was out of work and no insurance. The Comfort Dental plan saved me some dollars and the doctors did everything possible to save me money, without cutting back quality of care. Dr. Jostes is the best -- very kind. Dr. Jolstad is my reg dentist and just great - thorough and and good natured. Great staff--today I had an abcess and they got me right in. Surely, everyone's experience is different but mine has been very, very positive.

Comfort Dental Cherry Creek

by Alexandra Z.

I went in to this office for a simple cleaning. Dr. Light was very professional. I've been to many dentist offices in the past and this doctor was calm, patient and kind. They took x-rays, he performed the cleaning and went over the x-rays with me. Thank you for making it a very pleasant process.

Impressed with Comfort Dental

by Mary Jo J.

I was so impressed with Comfort Dental yesterday. I was in terrible pain because one of my teeth needed a root canal. I procrastinated with my other dentist and found my self not being able to get into his schedule. Comfort Dental was able to get me in immediately and my pain is gone!!! Thanks you!

Comfort Dental - Dishonest, will falsify your records to make more money

by stephanie c.

I recently had my first visit with Comfort Denta at the Cherry Creek office, and was basically asked to pay $55 for NOTHING! I expected to have a teeth cleaning, xrays and a dentist examas most would expect for a normal dentist visit. I was very surprised when the tech sat me down and said the dentist would be right in. What about the cleaning??? Ive NEVER in my life seen a dentist before a cleaning! Also, per the Gold plan, it says cleanings are covered. Not surprisingly, the dentist didnt find anything wrong with my teeth, as I have great teeth! I was just coming in for a bi-annual exam and cleaning. Then, the dentist made some determination that I have periodontal disease and the cleaning I was expecting to be covered will now cost me $220 dollars! This was the point that I realized that Im better off going to my former, trustworthy, honest dentist who isnt trying to create a problem out of nothing to make more money. I would rather pay him out of pocket that this scam called The Gold Plan. I stated to the dentist that I will not be coming back for this cleaning. He looked at me with a what???!!! expression on his face. Next, the tech took xraysand only a couple minutes later, came back saying the dentist reviewed them and there arent any cavities. I seriously doubt he looked at them in such a quick timeframe, as they were very busy. AND, in a REAL dentist office, the dentist reviews the xrays with the patient in the room. I believe he wrote me off as a patient at the point where I said I wasnt coming back. Upon leaving the office, I sat down to pay the $20 copay, as I expected. The clerk asked for $55. I asked why. She responded that the assessment of my gums (that he said I needed a deep cleaning for) was $35. I didnt ask for this assessment. If they are going to do automatic assessments that cost more than the basic exam covers, they should ask the patient prior to proceeding. What a sneaky, weasily way to make an extra buck! I reluctantly gave them my $55. To add, the Gold Plan is a 12 month contract, so they are making a killing on this scam! As a family we will have basically handed over $434.00 for a visit for each family member over the past year, AND NONE OF US HAD ANY WORK DONE OR ANY CLEANINGS THE ENTIRE YEAR! We're not any better off that we would have been by skipping the dentist visits this year! (Comfort Dental $300 for the "monthly membership fee", $55 for my "visit", $60 for my three year old to cry in a chair and the rest for my husband to go in and have nothing done). Wow, for that, we could have seen REAL hygenists and had our teeth actually cleaned!

Comfort Dental Cherry Creek , very efficient and caring

by scott j.

I went in for a tooth ache I had over the weekend, and the staff squeezed me in right away. The doctor was very helpful, he gave me my options, I elected to extract tooth, which he did that day and it was painless. The whole experience was great.

Comfort Dental Cherry Creek- don't do it

by Derrick L.

Dr. Mark Jolstad chipped my front tooth last time I saw him, then denied doing it when I went in 2 days later. He said I must've done it while eating. He billed my insurance for a veneer which is now discolored and noticable when I smile.
Also got almost no assessment on the health of my teeth and gums. I wish I would've never seen this dentist.

Comfort Dental Cherry Creek-Great experience

by Mark J.

I went to comfort cc for a 2nd opinion and was pleIasantly surprised after reading some of these reviews. I was told I needed 4 thousand dollars worth of treatment. Dr. Jolstad agreed with most of the other Dr. treatment plan, but was able to get it all done for 2200. I just finished treatment and could not be more pleased. Everything worked out perfectly, minimal discomfort, nice staff, perfessional work, although very busy the Dr. took great care of me. I would highly recomend this office, they're great.

Awful Experience, Don't Choose Comfort Dental!

by S P.

I would never recommend Comfort Dental...EVER!

To begin, they did a procedure on me without asking-- leaving me with a large bill that I was not prepared for. Furthermore, when I asked a dental hygienist friend of mine if it was necessary, she informed me that the procedure should have been done only after a consultation with a specialist.

The dentist I saw (Dr. D) was extremely rude and treated me as if I was a child. He repeatedly asked me the same questions as if I was incompetent to answer them correctly the first time.

I had not been in to see the dentist in 7 months (a reasonable amount of time if you ask me), however they treated me as if I had committed one of the 7 deadly sins...So much for your dentist trying to make you feel comfortable!

This is a mediocre establishment that seems more like a clinic in the slums than a respectable doctors office. And the treatment that you receive from all of the staff certainly doesn't suggest otherwise!

Deceptive Billing and Overchaged

by J C.

If i could give a lower rating i would. These businesses pray on people with either little or no dental insurance or have HMO plans. I was initially billed a total of 568.00 for a root canal build-up and crown. But then a couple of weeks later when i received my Explanation of Benefits, as well as a letter from my Flex Pay plan needing proof of the charges paid. I had my insurance company investigate the claim to which they told me that i was overcharged 106.00 dollars. When i presented this to them, i was only refunded 54.00 dollars?? What about the rest of my 46.00? When asked for further documentation regarding detailed charges, they refused to provide me with this. I will not be returning for any future visits and will be following up with a dentist in PRIVATE practice..

Accomadating and affordable

by elias a.

I woke up on saturday with a miserable tooth ache. My dentist is not available on weekends so i called comfort dental cherry creek. Not only did they get me right in but the staff was very friendly and Dr. Jolstad was able to fix the problem. The problem was assessed for $19 and then treated for a very fair price. I will go back to comfort and highly recommend it for others.

UNETHICAL

by Jessie N.

I went to the CC CD office to see Dr. Jolstad and had x-rays taken and an exam. They charged me an extra $35 for periodontal charting which they didn't inform me of before they did it. I was charged $55 total for what should've been a $20 visit on the Comfort Gold Plan. I found out later from another office that you only need periodontal charting if you have gum disease. Not even Dr. Jolstad said I had gum disease and yet one of his staff said that everyone that comes in gets the periodontal charting. If you still go after reading these reviews, ask about that before he puts his hands in your mouth.

I got the $35 back on my second visit after I complained extensively, but Dr. Jolstad would admit no wrong-doing there. He told me I had a cavity and that I would need the deep cleaning (about $400 out of pocket). Five minutes later he told me that my teeth and gums were in better shape than most of the people he sees. If they're in such good shape, why would I need a special $400 cleaning?

Upon seeing my skepticism, he suggested I get a second opinion and referred me to a periodontist. It all seemed so orchestrated that there was no way I was going to anyone he referred me to. I figured they probably had some kind of kick-back agreement to confirm diagnosis. I got out of there.

I figured I would give CD one more try so a week later I went to the Stroh Ranch CD office and saw Dr. Henderson. He not only said that I didn't have a cavity, but literally said, "We can clean your teeth today if you can stick around for a bit, but there's really not that much to clean." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! He was done in 8 minutes. So I got an exam and cleaning for $20 and a "See you in 6 months for your next cleaning." It makes me sick that anyone would pay $400+ for a cleaning that s/he didn't need.

I had read all the other bad reviews about the CC CD office prior to going in, but I thought I would still give them a shot. Just save your time and go somewhere else. Stroh Ranch is a long distance from CC, but it was worth my time.

What Dr. Jolstad did is unethical and bordering on malpractice. (Disclaimer: I'm not an attorney, and I don't know what qualifies as malpractice in CO.) I feel bad for all the patients he has that just believe what he tells them and shell out money to him for unnecessary procedures. He can afford to alienate discriminate people because of his location. Both times I was there, there were at least two foreign patients (as evidenced by accent or total inability to speak English), and I wonder if their cultures take doctors and dentists automatically at their word and that this also contributes to the CC CD office's success.

Low quality dental services

by Mary J.

I had a simple crown. Less than a year later, it broke. They replaced it. A year and a half later, the new crown fell off. They charged me over $100.00 to put it back on.

That was the last time my husband and I went to Comfort Dental. Now we go to a "real" dentist in private practice.

Excellent treatment by Dr. Jostes

by Cheryl S.

I had an excellent experience. Dr. Jostes was very professional and meticulous. I had a very difficult root canal since the roots had calcified. However, he took his time and patiently filed through the calcification. He was very careful to thoroughly numb the area and very solicitous about my comfort. The hygienist was first-class. I was very impressed with the service that I received.

Don't Go There

by LiedTo R.

If I could give them a zero rating I would. They have lied to me so many times I can't even count at this point. You'll notice that the post from the man representing the chain brags about how many patients they handle. That's probably the problem, they are too busy for all of the patients they schedule and they obviously don't have time to train their staff. Never again. Don't go there. Seriously. Big mistake. Comfort Dental sucks.

FIRST AND LAST TIME...

by Carlos S.

I will never go to one of these places again !! Just got back from their
Office on 38th and Sheridan. I was wearing a temporary bridge and my
Dentist is out of Town, the bridge broke and I had no choice, but run
to the first Desist. All I needed was a temporary plastic bridge.
The bridge I ended up with was rough, unpolished, unfit, short and
most ridiculous flared!!! I lost my upper front tooth and tried to explain
to the Assistant and to the Doctor, the end of two front teeth needed
to be longer and round, so that it'd fit in the pontic to hold the gum in
place. I am not a Dentist but I knew what I was talking about, neither
the Doctor nor the Assisatnt seemed to have a clue what I was
trying o convey. I was a really bad experience, I only saw the Doctor for a
couple of minutes as he was caring for 300 other people at the same
time. In the end, I wasted $250.00 ...

Comfort Dental Values Your Input

by Rob M.

Comfort Dentals web outreach program has generated a number of comments, both good and bad. It has always been the policy of Comfort Dental to address patient's complaints directly and honestly. We are currently contacting every patient who had a negative review in hopes of rectifying the situation.

Its also fair to say that anyone can say anything on a web review, and remain anonymous.

Comfort Dental has 1.4 million patients, and is Colorados largest dental provider. Over the years, Comfort Dental has taken away patients from competing dentists, and because of our success, we sometimes hear disparaging remarks from competing dentists. These remarks can come in the form of web reviews.

To this end, we will follow up with every legitimate review. We will also expose any disingenuous reviews by competing dentists so consumers can make an informed decision when choosing a dentist.

Comfort Dental greatly values your input. Please contact us with your input.

They always see me right away

by Jenna M.

After years of neglecting my dental care, I have turned to Comfort Dental to help me get my mouth back in shape. I've had two root canals, and two crowns put on. They have been really great with seeing me after procedures if I have any problems. The thing with Dental work is that it usually hurts...a lot. Dr. Jolstad has always been really nice to me and is very accommodating. I am a HUGE baby when it comes to pain, and I hate hearing the drill, and he knows this now and always makes me really comfortable. They don't have a problem giving you nitrous oxide if that is what you need to have a pleasant (or as pleasant as a dental visit could be) experience there. I have had work done by the assistants, but they have always been really nice and professional. I don't mind having my temporary crown shaped by a trained assistant. When I went in to get my crowns made for my teeth that I had just had root canals on, they were able to work with me on payments. I've only had one little problem with them, I had canceled an appointment but the person who took my call didn't correctly put that down, so they did want to charge me for my "missed" visit, but they took my word for it when I told them that I had canceled the appointment (which I really did) and there was no charge. Also they have never charged me when I have come in there with pain from my teeth, and so for that I am happy. I haven't noticed them trying to upsell me anything, and if anything they have tried to give me the best dental care at a price I can afford. They had explained to me that instead of getting a dental implant (expensive, and time consuming) that I could instead get a bridge to fix where I had had a tooth extracted (meaning much savings on my behalf). My dentist also always works with me on what treatments I need to do next and what could be put off because it is just cosmetic. I am happy with Comfort Dental of Cherry Creek, though I do not like going to the dentist either, those guys make it better than most.

Not too satisfied

by Kevin S.

I was very disappointed when I had a crown fall off after only having it put on 3 years earlier. I was even more disappointed when I had a dental assistant put it back on (even though it shouldn't have fallen off in the first place so soon) at a cost of $85.00. I couldn't have been in their office for more then 10 to 15 minutes. Seems like it should have been put on properly the first time!

Worst experience ever!

by Anonymous

I've been going to the dentist for over 30 years, and Comfort Dental (Highlands) was by far the worst experience. All I had done was x-rays and a cleaning, and it hurt so bad. The dentist was rude and rough. He told me I need a crown, but I am going for a second opinion after reading these other reviews. Don't go to any Comfort Dental.

I've never had a cavity before so I went to a different dentist since I just felt funny about the visit and they had no idea what cavity they were talking about. The dentist actually seemed angry with me that I opted not to get the cavity filled and it ended up not existing! Be Careful....go somewhere else!

convenient location and friendly staff

by Anonymous

Not all dental offices are open saturdays. I had a horrible toothache that has been keeping me awake for a long time now. I don't have insurance and was so scared that I couldn't afford any dental treatment. Imagine the burden on my shoulders. Needless to say, I came in crying for two reasons now. Tooth pain and more so a pain in the pocket. They have been very accomodating. Doctors and staff were not only professional but very friendly. They listened to my concerns and worked with me. I felt relaxed and burden was lifted out of me. Thanks.

Great dental experience

by Julie J.

I had a tooth break Friday night and I could not get a hold of my previous dentist. I called Comfort dental Saturday morning and they got me in right away. I was so scared I was going to loose my tooth. The doctor was excellent at calming me down and explaining what he needed to do to save my tooth, and went over all the fees with me. He made a temporary cap for me that day. I just went back Friday and got my permanent cap in. Both appointments the staff and Doctor were so friendly and perfessional, I just loved them, and the cost was so reasonable I just cannot believe it. Great Office!

Comfort Dental - County Line & Broadway

by Anonymous

Went to them the other day and got the distinct feeling this place is like an Assembly Line. There are no private rooms, just dividers between chairs so you can hear the person next to you screaming in pain during their root canal. Isn't there something slightly unsanitary to being out in the open like this or am I being old fashioned? After the tech took the x-rays, the dentist came in and told me I needed several crowns. I was incensed especially since I take such good care of my teeth. He also said I needed deep cleaning. The type he wants to do is mostly done by a periodontist and ALWAYS preceeded by several days of antibiotics. This is supposed to be STANDARD PROCEDURE before any kind of dental work that could involve bleeding. I would just caution anyone to stay away from Comfort Dental.

fishy

by JENNIFER W.

I chipped my tooth which had a filling in it and went to see if i could have it repaired. the dentist took an x-ray and said, no problem, all they had to do was replace the old filling inorder to fix the chip. before i knew it he had drilled out the majority of my tooth only to break the bad news to me at the very end that i had so much decay underneath my old filling that he had to remove and would now need a root canal and a cap for my tooth. He gave me no indication beforehand or even while he was drilling away at my tooth that there was more decay and a possibility that i may be a candidate for a root canal. he didn't have the time to do the root canal at that moment, so i had to pay $100 for a temporary filling which is said to last about a month and then have to return in a couple of days to have the real procedure done. I have no way of knowing whether he was being honest with me, but the whole experience felt VERY strange and somehow opportunistic on their part. i will not return to them for any further work.

Misleading Billing

by Rick C.

Comfort Dental Ward & 64th ave. I went on an emergency visit with an absessed tooth. The work was fine on the two visits for work of the four required to complete the root canal. On my first visit I asked what the total coast would be assuming I needed a root canal and a gold cap. I was given the costs which were high and then told of this discount program called the Gold Plan which would reduse my cost for $150. After doing the arithmatic I decided to my understanding that in addtion to my $150 I would be paying somewhere in the high $600s to the low $700. I went ahead. On my 3rd visit I was told told that I might need a post. They brought me a quote either way and sone I realized that insteaad of the figure I had repeated to the dentist several times I was really going to be in for abotu $1100 even without the ost. I leaft the office and asked for the refund of my Gold Plan $150. I told them that I had been islead about the pricing and that if I had know the total formthe onset I would have had the tooth pulled. I was dirested to the Corportate Offfice to get me refund. Greag their lawyer told me that I could get a refund but I would then have to pay the higher fees of the non plan services I had revieved. I told him tha twas unacceptable because I was imslead a bout the pricing. He told me two days ago he would contact th dentist and get back to me. I'm still waiting for the call. I feel that there should be no questoin about refunding my $150.

Poor service, completely unprofessional Dinsmore DDS

by randy j.

I went to this dentist for what turned out to be a crown. After the hard sell by the dentist, at a cost of nearly $1000, the dentist spent about ten minutes preparing the tooth, then a dental tech spent the next 30 minutes preparing a temporary crown. The dentist never returned. When this crown came off in about two days, I called and was told that they didn't have any more appointments for the next two days. After I objected, they agreed to see me the same day and replaced the temp. The permanent crown was not available at my scheduled appt two weeks later and I was not informed of this until the night before the next am appt. Finally, at the delayed appt for the permanent, the dentist again turned over the job to the dental tech to drill and place the crown. I objected to having a dental tech do what clearly should have been done by a trained dentist. Avoid this place, you will be sorry.

Endodontist Messed up Root Canal

by Nancy F.

I went in for a root canal and now have to go back to get medication put in because he irritated the nerve. Then I have to go back again for more treatment. At Cherry Creek Endodontists did not have this problem

PROS:
CONS: Need more treatment on root canal

Would not recommend

by Mr J.

Very inflexible schedule, rude and unaccomodative staff. I've called multiple times during business hours and it cuts automatically to voicemail... they don't bother to return your call until hours later, and then they can't even get you on the schedule for the following month!

Good dentists, lousy billing

by Simon L.

I had great dental service for a weekend emergency. Unfortunately, the office staff insisted on both my insurance information AND paying upfront for the full bill. Unsurprisingly, my insurance company ended up getting double billed. When I attempted to explain the problem over the phone with Comfort, I was cutoff and placed on hold for 15 minutes. At this point I gave up and am attempting to get a refund from Comfort by "tried and true" letter.

PROS: Excellent professional staff, flexible hours
CONS: Aggressive but error-prone billing operation unresponsive to problems

Unprofessional office staff

by Cindy M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,665

I would not recommend this Comfort Dental. I took my family in for appointments, and although the dentist was fine, the office staff was unprofessional.
