Horrible, horrible restaurant. I love Greek food, but this was practically inedible. Bad food: Greek Pork chops that my 16 yr old son could not cut with a steak knife, lamb (tasted more like mutton) that three of us pushed away after two or three bites, a steak that was 1/3 gristle. Poor service: a ditzy waitress that could barely speak English and had to be asked THREE times to bring a glass of milk. A slimy owner/ manager that was all smiles when he promised much, then disappeared (as he does every afternoon according to the regulars) leaving nobody in charge to handle complaints or make adjustments, and then came back rude and angry when we insisted on not paying for the slop parts of the meal. I'm surprised this place is still in business. DON'T GO, DON'T GO, DON'T GO!

Went to MBFGC with my family. I ordered the Fisherman's salad which was said to have crab meat, shrimp, kalamata olives, and the usual veggies. Bad enough that they had been misleading in the use of the word "crab" but the artificial (K)crab meat had obviously been frozen and defrosted minutes before they tossed it on my salad. It was still half frozen. There were 4 tiny little beat-up looking shrimp buried under the mound of half frozen Krab and 3 kalamata olives. The tomatoes were unripe and hard and comprised most of the salad. No dressing, just olive oil. The WORST salad I've ever had. I removed the Krab meat and asked to have a grilled chicken breast instead. I was informed that it would be awhile. Hmmm, I wonder why? Because they were DEFROSTING a chicken breast to grill up for me. I don't usually feel compelled to write reviews on restaurants but in this case I felt it important to let people know what they're getting when they go to My Big Fat Greek Cafe based on my experience.

Everything is fresh and homemade. I've tried many other Greek restaurants and will now eat Greek food only there. I can't wait to go back and get take out . I hear if you go Friday and Saturday nights the owner is there and is really friendly.

I have been this restaurant two times now, the first time was about 3 months ago, and the man that served us was extremely rude and did not care to take care of his customer. Today when I was in the area my friend requested we return, our waitress was fast, friendly and, and understanding, but while we were there we over heard the man who was our previous server, harassing our waitress by yelling at her, and making her cry for what we understand was done by other employee. Our waitress informed us that he was the owner of this restaurant .we believe your work place is your second home and should be treat as such. This man was totally out place to treat someone like this. How dare an employer ever treat their employee?s with such disrespect! Federal law does not prohibit simple teasing, offhand comments, or isolated incidents that are not extremely serious. The conduct must be sufficiently severe to create a hostile work environment. I believe this was severely hostile and I will be making a report to the EEOC. And will NEVER return to this restaurant again.

This is a great cafe that is homey and comfortable. We were in a hurry and our waitress made sure our food was served quickly. She was also very funny and personable. The food was delicious and the menu had a great deal of traditional Greek food. I would go back anytime and recommend it to friends.

There are plenty of Greek restaurants in Greektown, so we decided to try this one since my family is from Greece. We loved the owner - he made us feel right at home. His employees were very attentive and quick to serve us. The food was amazing and made me miss home. It isn't meant to be a very fancy schmancy place - which was perfect because we were looking for something casual. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were generous. This place was great and my family and I will patron this establishment because of our positive, fun experience.

Our first of many visits to My Big Fat Greek Cafe was a pleasant surprise. We were able to feed our finicky vegetarian daughter with wonderful appetizers. On a more recent visit, we took our brother-in-law, a serious carnivore, and he was in absolute heaven. Breakfasts are good but the best times are when the owner is in the kitchen and the dining room talking up the guests.

I have been here several times, it has become one of my favorite Greek places to eat. They have very nice portions and fast and friendly service, and never had a bad meal! You must try their baklava, especially the pistachio one.. OMG .. the best I have ever had! Try it I know you'll like it if you like authentic Greek food!

I went to My Big Fat Greek Cafe for the first time on 7/26/08 for lunch. I have been looking for some good greek food around town and heard of this place. The food was excellent. The gyro meat was great. BUT the service was horrible. They had one waitress which was fine because it was not so busy when we went in but she was unfriendly and rude. She acted like she was irritated that people were in there and she actually had to wait on them. After asking for a re-fill on our drinks she came back to the table and practically through them at us. And then proceeded to reach over the table to change out the sugar without even saying exuse me -just completely reached over us while we were in the middle of eating. There are plenty of people out there who need a job and would be willing to have hers. If you don't like to work in the service industry missy you need to find something else. Because of her poor service I will not be returning !

After being a fan of Pete's for many years, I came to My Big Fat Greek Cafe and have not returned to Pete's since. Do not get me wrong, I am not an expert on Greek Food, but I trust my palate. I have had about 20 different meals from the menu and I figure I am only about 1/3 through all of the entrees. I have never seen such an extensive menu! The food is quick and the service is extremely friendly. I recommend eating at this place on a daily basis.
If you have not tried it yet, go there today! You absolutely will not regret it.

Again I am a waitress at the Big Fat Greek Cafe' our ckicken is mrinated you can not marinate frozen chicken. The crab is imitation we cannot afford to give away real crab it would go bad in between orders as the Fisherman salad is not our most popular if your ever not happy with your food here we are happy to get you something different. I am sure none of the other greek chains in town serve fresh crab. we are sorry you had a bad time in our Cafe' and hope you try it out again.

This place is by far the worst Greek food I've ever had. Petes Central One is the best Greek cuisine I've had in a long time it reminds me of back home, and also the employees are very friendly and attentive to their customers as well as the manager who makes you feel welcome and keeps you coming back with his hospitality. You cant beat the great food prepared by Amalia shes the best in denver.

OPA ! Petes Central One is the bomb!

I am a big fan of middle eastern cuisine, and found this little hole in the wall diner to be affordable, with decent food. The service was good, although it took a while to get the food out once the waitress had handed in her order. The souvlaki was very good, the pork nice and tender and the portion was good, the price was reasonable, about what I would expect to pay. I had a hard time parking, but would attempt to find a space to eat here again.

paper_chef you are out of your mind. Pete doesn't know greek food from greek tragedy. Big Fat Greek Cafe is the most authentic Greek food in Denver. I grew up on greek food in detroit which is the nation's capitol for quality greek food. BFGC is the only place in town that compares. The greek skillet is the most delicious breakfast around and big enough for two. Inspired salads, top notch gyros, and authentic entrees make BFGC the only place in town for greek food lovers who know! Keep up the good work.

I came here with a friend for lunch and we were both happy with the food and service. The lamb sandwich was really good, and a very generous portion size for the price. My friend ate the gyro hero sandwich, which was also good and an even larger portion size. The waitress did an average job of keeping our drinks refilled, but her friendliness was outstanding. Overall I'd recommend this restaurant.

If you are craving a Greek Salad with Gyros, this IS the place.
It was an "accident" that I even thought of stopping by, but I ended up spending 1 1/2 hrs
trying to finish my salad....it was not only HUGE, but the BEST TASTING Greek salad I have
ever had!
My Big Fat Greek Cafe is a great neighborhood cafe with waitstaff and owners who make you
feel at home.
I have only been here 3 times and I am never disappointed--from the food to the "hometown"
service.
They also have take-out (parking is minimal and seating is limited) so if you want something a little exciting to add to your dinner tonight, just call ahead and pick up a salad, spanakopita, or whatever you love.
I have heard the breakfast is out of this world and more than anyone could eat, but have
never tried it....
Awesome.....just give it a try!

I have been eating here for over a year. What the heck happened? This used to be the place to meet with friends on Sunday morning. The owners are the same, but the service and the food has changed. And what is going on with not taking Credit cArds anymore? If it is that big of a deal, raise your prices .35 cents per transaction fee!!! Where is the customer service? The same plate I always get is not as tasty, and my portians were smaller. I don't mind that as much! Lord knows I don't need to eat as much. And can the owners wife PLEASE LET US EAT IN PEACE? I beg you, please stop interuppting when people eat. It's just plain rude. Let us eat, and just refill our drinks. We don't want to know all the gossip in the world.

I stopped in for breakfast on a recommendation from a buddy and had a breakfast burrito supreme. It comes with three kinds of meat piled on top of eggs and hasbrowns. The green chile is better than some Mexican places! Tons of flavor but not too hot for a gringo like me. Who'da thought a greek restaurant could hook up a Big Fat burrito liek that. I've been back since and tried a couple of skillets and wasn't let down. They were awesome. Thumbs up.

FINALLY - hand-crafted beef dolmades. We all know Greeks in the restaurant biz are competitive. This guy's won the contest hands-down by kicking the canned grape leaves and other skimpy shotcuts to the CURB.

I've been dining in this area for years and recall when my Big Fat Greek Cafe was occupied by a no-name greasy spoon. Granite countertops and buffed flatware have won out. The place gleams even during a rush. The clearly authentic vases and wall-hangings make me feel like I'm on vacation. Avoid the feisty South Broadway meter lady by parking in the back of the restaurant for free.

I was craving a gyro, but we didn't know of a place on Broadway, so just as we were about to hit Griff's for a burger we caught site of My Big Fat Greek Cafe. My prayers were answered! What a fantastic gyro! I wanted to order everything on the menu. The restaurant was clean, and the owner was clearly present and looking to make sure everyone was happy. I can't wait to go back and try the moussaka. The menu was extremely affordable, the restaurant was clean and inviting, and the waitress was endearing. Take it from a Greek, this is not good Greek food by a longshot. The avgolemono has no egg in it, the mousaka is greasy, and the humus has no tahini. Below average spanakopita, and the dolmades are out of a can. Yuk yuk yuk on the Greek food.

This place was pretty far removed from any Greek food I've ever had. They threw black olives, (which they claimed were kalamata) and feta cheese on my breakfast and called it Greek. The service also left much to be desired. Ditzy waitress, bad coffee; I had to ask three times for a glass of water, all and all this place just doesn't live up to the ratings. Too bad cause I was really looking forward to some good Greek food, but was sadly disappointed.

Too bad cause I was really looking forward to some good Greek food, but was sadly disappointed.

Cons: Food, Service

My boyfriend and I searched for a greek eatery and came upon this restaurant for his birthday. We had an AWESOME experience. I had printed a coupon off the web site and when the owner saw it, he commented on how glad he was that we found it, and gave us a free dessert. The food was great, as was all the attention we got. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs due to the large portions. We drove over 20 miles to dine here and it was worth every cent of high priced gas = ) If you like GREEK.....this is the place to go!!!!!

We found your restaurant through city search and thought to give it a try. I had the spinach and feta omelete, my husband had the greek skillet and my son had the big fat Greek burger. Everything was great. We' ll be back soon.

My wife and I were looking for a new place to eat lunch on Saturday - we saw this "new" restaurant and suspected it would be standard fare with a gimmic. What a surprise! WOW! She had the best Greek salad, with a stuffed grape leaf and fresh yogurt (easily feeds two). I had the gyro burrito and pancakes (I was in the breakfast mood). All was delicious - even the pancakes! To finish off, have the Baclava (sp?) - the owner's mother's recipe, again enough for two and the best you will ever taste.

We were searching for authentic Greek food to celebrate our anniversary because we were married in Santorini, Greece. What a find! My Big Fat Greek Cafe was exactly what we were looking for. The service and ambiance were wonderful and the food was excellent. We tried a sampler and the combination so we could experiment with everything. We had enough left for dinner the next day! Lucky for us, fresh baklava had just been taken out of the oven to top it off. Positively wonderful. The food and atmosphere were reminiscent of our experience in the Greek islands. Efharisto Trifon!!!! We will be back!

Their slogan "Food of the Gods" says it all. Their Greek specialties remind me of vacations in Greece and their American menu and daily specials keep me coming back. If you enjoy breakfast, I recommend the Greek Skillet. I've tried this dish in other local establishments and theirs is truly the best.
