I had taken my sister??s Dodge Intrepid to Dublin Auto over a year ago for suspension work. I thought it was a little overpriced at the time, but they seem to be transparent with the costs and honest about what REALLY had to be fixed. A few months ago I took my 2003 Honda Pilot in for a tune-up. Again, the cost seemed a little high (compared to other service stations), but I was happy with the honesty and transparency. Since I had come to trust Dublin??s work (mistake), I took my Pilot back in to replace the timing belt on 14 Sep even though the quote was several hundred dollars more than another shop. The next day the owner called and said the cam-shaft pulley bolt (that holds on the harmonic balancer) had broken when it was being removed. They first blamed Honda for inserting the wrong bolt and settled on blaming the Honda factory for torquing the bolt too much. The logic they used did not make sense and they would not accept any of the responsibility for breaking the bolt. In addition, they charged an outrageous amount to remove the broken bolt and then had the audacity to imply they saved the crank shaft from damage. I really do not know what happened with the bolt, but there doesn??t seem to be a problem with cam-shaft pulley??s being torqued too much on this engine (3.5L V6). I now feel the proprietors of Dublin Auto Care have serious integrity issues. I have yet to decide whether to file in small claims to recover the $600 over the estimate that I ended up paying. Either way, steer clear!

Avoid this place at all costs. The owner is one of the most mean, rude people I have ever encountered. I was a customer of his, and had taken both our vehicles there a few times for minor repairs. Well, one Saturday I went to drop off some used oil after doing my own oil change. (This is a service that every shop I've encountered in the past is OK with).
Well, after dropping off the oil, the owner literally came out and started yelling and screaming at me. He cussed me out with more anger than I could possibly express (and words I would never repeat in this review). I'm not sure why, but apparently he didn't like the fact that I was dropping off used oil. I even offered to take it somewhere else, but he literally ripped it from my hand and said he didn't want me to take it back. I was afraid he would hit me.
Needless to say, I will never, ever go here again--and I recommend to everyone I know to avoid this place. The owner has a short fuse and can fly off the handle...if that is how he acts with a simple used oil drop-off, I hate to see how he would react to a major service issue or disagreement.

This is the first review I've EVER written. I've never felt compelled enough to speak out for or against something in the past.

That's definitely changed.

I've used Dublin Auto care for oil changes in the past. Hard to screw up an oil change. Having some major repair (brakes and a check engine light), I thought I would get a proposal from them as well.

For the brakes, and the brakes alone (just the front), the quoted me over $1,300!! They explained that this pricing was because they had to machine parts on their own as well as replacing calipers. I took my XC90 directly to the Volvo dealership. We all know dealerships to be notoriously high in pricing. They told me replacing calipers was an absolute joke and there was no need AT ALL for mine to be touched. Machining parts was also something that didn't have to be done and he couldn't understand what they would possibly be machining. I took it to a third place, because the quotes were so dramatically different, and the final place also concurred with the dealership and pricing was $8 different. The other two sites both quoted just over $500. Less than HALF of the price Dublin Auto Swindlers were looking at charging.

I rated them one star only because it was the lowest possible rating. I would avoid this place at all costs. If they're willing to either "make up" pricing or symptoms, or simply be negligent enough to not know what needs to be done, your car and your wallet are better served going elsewhere.

Cons: Absolute rip-off. Poor response time.

I went to Dublin Auto for an oil change. The next time, I took it to a different place, and the manager informed me that whoever had done my last oil change had put in an oversized plug and stripped the threads out. I went round and round with Dublin Auto and they severely denied wrongdoing, even though Dublin Auto's manager claimed that their mechanic had knowingly screwed a 5/8 inch drain plug with cutting threads into a 14mm hole, that this was an "oversight" on their part, and that they would have told me about it, "in a perfect world." I had to get a new oil pan, which cost over $400. I complained to the bureau, and got a smug letter from the manager in reply denying doing anything wrong. The case was closed without any resolution. These people also told me that my AC Compressor needed to be replaced at a cost of over $500. I got a second opinion, and it was only the AC belt, which was less than $50
My fiancee had over $4000 worth of work done on her Ford Ranger there and these people treated me like a criminal trying to rip them off, since it was my first time in. (I just got back from overseas.) After my experience, I wonder how much of my fiancee's cost could have been avoided had she taken her vehicle to a different shop.
Do not go here. If you do, you'll probably spend a whole lot of money, and encounter a brick wall if anything goes wrong, since this business takes "The customer is always wrong" approach. Perhaps they treat some customers well, but you have to spend several thousand dollars there first to "earn the privilege."

Pros: You'll have a lot of new parts on your car.

Cons: You'll have to pay for them, whether it's necessary or not.

I "stumbled upon" Dublin Auto Care when I moved to Colorado Springs in 2003. I have never left them. They have dealt with me honestly, serviced my car in an expeditious manner, and charged appropriately for the work performed. Each of the service persons/owners has treated me with the utmost respect and each has also, always "gone the extra mile". Try them -- you'll like them!
