Had pasta bolognese. Pasta was over cooked! If half of your menu consists of pasta, you should know how to cook it properly. Sauce was not authentic. Bolognese is a sauce made with milk, white wine, mirepoix, and tomato product such as tomato paste. Usually made with veal and pork which is actually lightly blended into the sauce with an emersion blender. Their bolognese was marinara with cream and a couple small balls of sausage spooned over watery over cooked linguine. Minestrone soup had no flavor whatsoever. Why not do a pasta con fagiolle soup? It's the best Italian soup ever if made properly!

I live about a baseball throw from Angelo's.
So of course I go there a lot but I've never been disappointed at any time. I love their pizza. One of the best. The staff is nice and service is fast.

And to the people who "just moved into the neighborhood" up there: First of all, I hate when you yuppie noobs move into my 'hood looking for the "urban experience" yet you still want your f__ing Macaroni Grills and Applebees. (insert vomit here)
Angelo's is like a lot of the east coast neighborhood joints I grew up with. Old and dated but killer food. I get my to-go pizza's in 15 minutes every time.

If you want a complete makeover restaurant I suggest you go ahead and move back to the burbs or wherever you came from and get some of those Bloomin' Onions.

This is a fun place and great pizza! It's fun to sit in the courtyard when the weather is nice. Great place for kids.

This place has the best pizza in the city. Fun atmosphere and very cool place! Kid friendly, and the patio in the summer is awesome!

I've been going to Angelo's for years but not because I love their food but rather because of the relaxed atmosphere. Yes, the service is slow but you don't feel rushed. The food is alright. You can get a calzone that's just as good if not better at and Old Chicago or get a better tasting pizza from Black Jack or Famous. But, if you're more into the vibe of a place this is a good place. It feels like you're in a place with history.

Expensive, sticky tables, no happy hour, run-down looking, very s-l-o-w service. This place needs an extreme makeover.

Angelo's is an okay place to grab lunch. The booths are small and difficult to get into, but the whole atmosphere is that of the inside of an old church, which is kind of cool. The food was pretty good, but the prices seemed a little high. I would try it again before recommending it to anyone. My coworkers absolutely love it, though.

I've been going to Angelo's for 20 years. It is very good American-Italian food of an old-fashioned variety. They have quality ingredients, delicious red sauce, a nice variety of menu items other than their fine pizza & calzones, wonderful salads. Nice patio, nice table wine, friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere inside.

We've been to Angelo's a few times since moving into the neighborhood, but after our last experience we won't be going back. The food is ok, not the best Italian but fine for a cheap meal. On 3/21 we were seated next to a family I assume was the owner's that included three women, one man, and two young boys. Throughout our meal I watched as one of the boys ran around, played with his toys on the floor, ran his hands through the man's hair...and then went into the kitchen and put his hands on the counter surfaces. Blech. I usually try to not think about what can (and does) happen in restaurant kitchens, I can't ignore it when I see it for myself.

I eat at Angelo's fairly often. It is one of my favorite local eateries. The food is tasty and always hot. The service is the best in Denver. Yes, I'm even talking better than places like North or Barolo Grill. You will not find a friendlier staff. If you are starving, no problem, you always get your food quickly.

The wine is inexpensive and decent. Ask for the thin crust pizza with meatball, sliced tomato and jalapeno. It's my favorite.

Also, Denver does not allow smoking in restaurants any longer so no worries there.

The Pizza Trio went to Angelo's and ordered garlic cheese bread, a large italian salad and two pizza's. The bread was so-so ... it was a loaf split in half with a lot of seasonings on top and some cheese (although it didn't taste very garlicky and could have been cheesier.) The salad was enough to share with three people and there were lots of goodies (carrots, cucumbers, pepperoni, cheeses, etc.) on the salad and I believe the dressings were home made and were quite good (we got ranch and vinagarette.) We ordered a pizza with chicken and garlic with red sauce (it would have been better with white sauce) and the other pizza was with sausage and red onions. The crust was very good- crunchy and thin and the chicken on the pizza was breaded which was different and not especially good. They were out of canoli's which a member of the Trio said was "yum" so we got the Tiramisu instead. It was good not great (it seemed like it had been sitting around for awhile- the filling was kind of custardy) and overall the food was pretty much good not great. The atmosphere is really cool (you feel like you are in an old Italian joint) and the service was alright. The location is easy for those of us who live down south and is easy for the downtowners.

Angelo's is a mainstay among my family's selection of local dine-in, delivery, and takeout pizza/Italian food. Some of the reviews posted complain of "cold, tasteless pizza" or "smoky atmosphere" or "gross." These reviews are simply unfair and inaccurate. This is not east coast pizza, but it is quality, hand-crafted, fresh pizza prepared with care. It is unique. Also, as a big fan of meatball sandwiches, I frequently tell friends and acquaintences that Angelo's version is easily in the top 5 in Denver. It may not match what you New York snobs consider to be "authentic" but the meatballs are home made, fresh, and big. It is delicious. Most other places give you microwaved Sysco Foods International Corp. meatballs.

Any lapse in service or cold pizzas would certainly be outside the norm. And there is no more smoking in Denver restaurants, so don't worry about that.

I'm mostly posting this because the "angry poster" review made me mad. My husband and I live within walking distance of Angelo's and enjoy eating there when we want to take our time having a sit-down but casual meal. The pizza may not be the best I've ever had, but it's really good. Lots of good ingredients -- and they don't skimp on the toppings. Our favorite thing to do is get salads, split a pizza and share a caraffe of their house chianti. Tirimisu is pretty good, too.

What in the world is wrong with Denverites' tastebuds?
I am telling you, anyone who has had REALLY good pizza in their lifetime would never in a million years claim they like this place. Angelo's does not make a good pizza. Period. I have had their pizza twice. I went here out of desperation b/c it was the only thing open the night of the snowstorm. I wish I saved my $$$. The drinks are expensive including everything else on the menu. Dominos or a frozen is comparable. Maybe Denver needs to open up some real pizza places so this City can get a clue.

Whereas I agree that the food isn't mind-blowing, it is certainly still a tasty italian meal in my humble opinion. But what truly brings me back to Angelo's is the warm family feel, and the consistently outstanding, friendly service. Not to mention, its nice to support a local, family-owned business whenever possible.

Cons: Gets a little crazy on the weekends

The flavors here are bland and boring. Marinara sauce tasted like...tomato sauce, nothing subtle or interesting about it. The spinach manicotti filling tasted like ricotta or maybe cottage cheese. The tiramisu had a sweet gloppy cream topping, with none of the interesting flavors I'd expect. All in all, a very uninteresting, mediocre pasta meal, unattractive presentation. My friend had chicken parmesan that arrived lukewarm and had to be sent back for reheating. I'd be willing to believe that the pizza is better, but this isn't the place for a nice pasta meal.

This is the worst pizza ever. It was cold upon delivery and got worse from there. It is definitely not east coast style pizza. Tasteless weird mozarella cheese, little sauce, bland soft crust. Toppings were mediocre. I will never buy from them again.

Angelo's is the place to go for the freshest toppings and the cripiest crust. I was amazed at the shear volume of their top quality toppings. The "Kitchen Sink" combo was magnificent, as was the vegetarian combo with artichoke hearts - Yum!

The wine list is cheap but drinkable. Though this pizza might deserve a higher quality vintage it's nice to have wine with a meal and not have it cost the week's grocery budget.

I would also have to give the atmospher a thumbs up - romance without the steep price. Nice music too.
