Armando's in Aurora moved to a new location in the fall, and I have to say that it just isn't the same. They've gone "uptown" with a newer, fancier look. The home family atmosphere is gone, the waiters don't have time to be friendly

I ordered and came exactly when they said it would be ready (a full 40 mins later) . When I arrived they said the order wasn't in their system. They questioned if I ordered at their location. I have a smart phone and showed them the number

Amazing Italian food!! Ok, I'm picky and don't want to spend $$. THIS HAS GREAT FOOD AT A GREAT PRICE! They are family owned & operated. Menu is for everyone & a good Italian restaurant will NOT give you heartburn/indigestion. THANKS!

I went in as a customer, left as a family member!

They care about your experience. Why? They don't need the $$... They do it because they LOVE what they do!

Sorry, but of all the Italian restaurants here, Armando's is the BEST. I've tried 95% of them, and sorry to say, "Mama Alvino's" is not even in the top 10. Nice try, "Triple D"... It is obvious you either work there, or have stock in

I have been to Armando's countless times over the past seventeen years; I'm seventeen years old. I've always thought of this place as a safe haven, a mom and pop restaurant with a real owner in the middle of a fake, suburban landscape.

I had heard & read good reviews for Armando's. However i was very disappointed in the pizza. Crust was dry & toppings lacked flavor. I generally avoid chains when it comes to pizza, and try mom & pop restaurants instead. Blackjack has better pizza than this! You want a good pizza in Aurora, try Mama Alvino's.

everyone who comments about the "owner's" attitude would not survive 5 minutes in NY or NJ. as I tell my husband all the time "i'm not yelling i'm just passionate!" get over it, good food is well worth a little yelling...lol. I also tell him good food takes time, its not McDonalds so if your kids can't wait more than 5 minutes don't take them there. My kid has always been great there and the staff has treated us wonderfully since he was a baby.
On to the food, I grew up as a second gen italian in nj, when i moved to colorado i thought i was going to die when it came to finding good food. when i moved to aurora I found them and it was like being in grandma's kitchen, second only to my own. i love the Eggplant Alla Romano, and I hear the Lobster Rav is excellent, and a newer addition I will be going there tomorrow to try. I am usually too full to attempt a dessert but tomorrow I may save room just so I can't write another raving review about them. I have been to other supposedly great italian restaurants in denver which are much pricier, and not nearly as good.
The only reason I do not give them a five star is because if you are looking for a quiet, romantic place with ambience...this is not it.

Our family of five was a regular at Armandos since the restaurant is close to our house. Then one night I asked the waitress for 1/4 pepperoni, 3/4 cheese pizza but I'd pay for 1/2 and 1/2. She came back to the table and said that the owner wouldn't make the pizza that way - it was too difficult. We then ordered the pizza his way but when I paid for the pizza, I asked him politely why they couldn't accommodate my request that was fulfilled at other restaurants. He became very beligerent with me and said that if he "did that for me, he'd have to do it for everybody. " I told him that he just lost a great customer and my family hasn't been back since. We do get a great laugh about Armando at his expense, though -- there are lots of other restaurant options in the area where the owner isn't a tool.

I can't imagine what the last 2 reviewers are talking about. I have been going to Armando's for 4+ years and recently go almost every week for take-out pizza which beats any chain pizza - hands down! I have got to know the staff personally and they LOVE working there. Sometimes the owner talks loudly to the wait staff (in typical Italian fashion) so they know they have food ready to deliver but is NEVER NEVER rude! There is NO WAY Armando's substitutes pork for veal. (think "stupid" spells "SUBSTITUTES" incorrectly on purpose?!? probably not) The place is packed with return customers on weekends...can all those people keep coming back for bad food? This place is absolutely wonderful...don't believe otherwise until you try it for yourself. You'll become a frequent customer too!

I ordered a veal dish. Evidently, the owner thinks people in the Denver area are stupid. I was served a grainy white meat, dry and tough approximately 1/4 inch thick requiring a table knife to cut. - this is pork with the fat trimmed off. Veal is a gentile peace of meat, it is a pale white in color, fine grain, cut with the side of the fork, a slight dryness to the meat. Veal is not something this restaurant serves. In San Jose California, an Italian restaurant was closed by the board of health for cheating the customer in this manner. Armandos should close also. ,

My family and I have decided to make ourselves regulars at Armandos as we have grown tiresome of the "miss" of the surrounding sit-in restaurants and fast food joints and for that matter--money not well spent. The staff is so personable they know us by name and are friendly. At Armandos the food is always right on and the service is just as consistent and wonderful as the food...mmm...so fresh and completely Italian, not American Italian, but Italian Italian. It is a family business, small and qauint with the perfect family environment. The children and adults are welcome to draw on the paper tablecloth with the crayons they provide and believe it or not it is sufficiently entertaining for both kid and adults in pacifying them until their food reaches the table. If your not into doodling there are also t.v.s and nuetral music that may suffice. Even during their busiest hours the wait time is not horrible as many have stated, but comparable to other resturaunts if not better. The longest my family and I have waited to be seated was 15-20 minutes. That's awesome considering other restaurants that are not near as good (not in food nor service) and generally have 35-45 minute waits during rush hours. I have never heard nor experienced the so called tempermental owner. Nonetheless, young and old couples, friends and the like all show up to Armandos and it's obvious that it is in demand and well liked as there the house is always packed on the weekends, sometimes even the weekdays (depending) and there are quit a few regulars who visit weekley. Once you start it is hard to stop.

We had a nice dinner, but the food took incredibly long for our children so we asked if we could talk to the manager- just to let him know the time challenge. The owner came out and started yelling at us (because he was the one in the kitchen) he followed us with another man to our car and was swearing at my husband. Needless to say- we will never be back.

I've been coming here since High School and now my husband and our family come. You feel welcome. You walk in and most of the waiters know you and stop to say hi. Very cheerful and friendly. GREAT food at a GREAT price. Very family oriented. My daughter has grown up here. They remember before she was around! You can draw on the paper covered tables, you can watch sports on a few tvs, you can eat great appetizers (I love the deluxe garlic knots that come with melted cheese) and they cater to picky eaters. We come about once a week to eat here. It's one of our favorite places.

We just came home from dinner at Armando's and it was fantastic. We are always skeptical about trying new places, but we were desperate to find a good "mom & pop" type restaurant. This is the place. The portions are large and the specials were delicious. Far better than eating at Olive Garden (I'll never go there again) and the prices are reasonable for the portions given. Very kid friendly and very friendly and attentive wait staff. If you're looking for a restaurant with great food and not a chain, try Armando's. We'll certainly be returning over and over.

This restaurant has wonderful food and even better service! We love the family feel of the restaurant (the owner's daughter waits tables and is a kick) and their seafood dishes are to die for. The prices are reasonable and wine list is decent. There can be lines during dinner, but it's worth it.

I've enjoyed Armando's for years. Great food, though they get so busy service can be slow - very slow. I was there for a special occasion and service was so slow. Armando spent half an hour visiting with people in the booth next to me.
I called afterwards to say that the food was superb - as usual, but I was concerned about the service. I told Armando that his lengthy visit next door, and asked if he noticed people were waiting more than 45 minutes to get food. He went off on me - screaming and yelling. They must have caller ID because he called me two times after that (same evening). I ended up changing my phone number. He's scary.

We went here on city search reviews and we not disappointed. Some of the best itilian food I ever had and I am from a place that had about 20 excellent authentic italian restaurants. Armando will take your name and you will have to wait, (even on a tues. night), but it's worth it. If you like eggplant I highly recommend it. They have 4 eggplant dishes. The homemade pasta and meatballs is awesome. The special is allways great. Come hungry and get a small pizza for appetizer. Not fancy. Just great food.

I discovered Armando's late one friday night nearly three years ago. My friends and I had just gotten off of work and were looking for some good food. We decided to stop in, but were upset to find that the place closed in a few minutes. As we were turning around to leave, Armando himself invited us inside and treated us with such hospitality that we felt like family. Ever since, we've been frequenting this Italian hot spot at least once a week. The entire staff is friendly and upbeat, and really try to get to know you. It isn't often that you'll go there and not hear the staff calling out to customers return customers who walk through the door, or giving a kiss on each cheek to some friends or family.

As for the food; I've yet to find anything more appealing when it comes to Italian/Pizza, or anything remotely close to my grandmother's food then Armando's. If you are a fish lover, try the Cioppino. If you love pizza, try the Primavera (Which won best gormet pizza in Colorado). Or, if you just feel like a homestyle meal, grab the hearty lasagna or spaghetti. If you feel like something different with your dish, don't hesistate to ask for a substitution. Normally they can without extra charge, unless you want something like alfredo rather then normal sauce (which can be expected since they make everything to order, rather then having a big sauce-pan of it cooking in the kitchen).

As the other reviews stated, make sure you do come early, because the place does fill up quickly and wait times can be somewhat long. However, during the summer and fall, they do have a great patio which is open for seating, and seems to alleviate some of the wait. I guess thats what happens when a small family owned business does as well as this one. 10/10

Being an Italian myself, this restaurant comes closest to home. Not only is Armando singing and talking to customers, he is an amazing cook and his entire family works there. This includes his wife and two daughters. His food comes right from the heart of Napoli, Italia. My first visit was a wonderful experience. Armando's oldest daughter, Luciana, served us. What a great personality. I now make my weekly run to Armando's. I highly recommend this place!

In this part of Aurora, there is a huge scarcity of quality restaurants. Armando's is the lone exception. Fantastic Italian food, friendly servers, and inviting decor make this the place to be in this neighborhood. The standards are available as well as scrumptious pizza and wicked desserts. In SE Aurora, if you want the best food, you have to visit Armandos.

PROS: Food quality, take-out availability
CONS: None

Over the last 15 years our family has gone to Armando's for the home cooked, family feeling that you get when you walk in the door. Everything on the menu is fabulous! I have NEVER had anything bad, all made to order and with Armando's special touches every time. I started coming here in high school and now I bring my children. The family atmosphere is perfect for them, they love the food and love Armando. He sings while he cooks which just brings the whole place together. The staff there is like a family and they treat you like their own. Armando's is consistent, fabulous and comforting. It is not a place for quiet necessarily but, what truly Italian family kitchen would be. We have so many family memories there and I am looking forward to many more!

This is our favorite local place to eat. The food is great, the staff is friendly, and the place is comfortable. The atmostphere has a very "family" feeling, especially if your family likes to eat dinner in front of the football game. There are always families with children and the wait staff memorizes your drinks after just a few visits. They make each dish to order and it's all fantastic. Just don't try to order any substitutions. Armando doesn't seem to like that but he's right in the end. They way he makes his food is perfect and shouldn't be changed.
I highly recommend the primavera pizza and any of their baked pastas with garlic knots and either meatballs or sausage. Yum!
Also, go early and you won't have to wait for a table.
