Talk about a hole-in-the-wall dive! That's Bud's. It's also this great family friendly, everyone knows everyone bar where there's barely enough room to turn around but the burgers rock! If you love burgers and love a place where you walk in the door and suddenly you're family, well, Bud's is for you. Take the drive to Sedalia and enjoy a Bud Burger.

After years of hearing about Bud's and driving through Sedalia countless times I stopped the other day after reading a review at www.seriouseats
I was NOT disappointed in any way. A good solid cheeseburger on a squishy bun BUT the only thing missing were some greasy french fries. If they had fries it would be an all around winner. I live 50 minutes to the south but I wouldn't think twice about driving there for lunch.
Pros: One of the very best burgers...period
Cons: They do not offer fries
I thought I would always look forward to having a Bud's Burger but now that my mother no longer works there.I just don't think it will ever be the same. She was notified threw a text message that her services were no longer needed after 40 years. She was devastated.
Pros: I still have good memories
Cons: change
The men's room toilet water is ice cold and refreshing after a hot day of fornication. There is not a hint of chlorine in it and it goes down my throat like cold silk. Also, the floors around the toilet are soaked with nutrients that I like to lick up and then wash down with the toilet water. Things are good for me right now. If only the sheep would come home I would be a happy man. But that is asking a lot I know. Weather has been nice here and I'm getting ready to harvest the tomatoes from the garden so I can start canning for the long winter. Heard from grandma last weekend and she's well. I hope you are well too and I look forward to seeing you at the dance next month.
Pros: What? This is the most romantic place that allows beastly women to dine on the floor.
Cons: WTF?
The burger was good. I had a double cheese and a single cheese. They were good burgers, not great. I'm going to blame my statements on a few factors:
1. I think my hopes were built up really high.
2. My nose is a little stuffy so that might have affected my taste buds.
3. The drive is really long.
I have been seeing a lot of reviews saying they didn't have Coke products, but we went in today and the person I was with got a Coke (neither of us had been there) and that's what they gave her. So, I don't know. Also, this might be blasphemy to say that I kind of wanted some fries.
WELL, WE JUST THINK THAT BUD'S IS THE BEST. THE ONLY CHANGE, AND IT IS FOR THE BEST, IS SINCE THEY CHANGED OWNERSHIP, THEY ARE NOW OPENED ON SUNDAYS!!! A GREAT COO FOR THE BIKER CROWD! (THURMAN, MAY HE REST IN PEACE WILL BE SORELY MISSED) BUT MIKE IS DOING A GREAT JOB! HE HAS BIG SHOES TO FILL!!! FUNNY STORY, BUT TRUE!!! LAST TIME MY HUBBY AND I WERE THERE, WE SAW ONE OF THE BIIIG WIGS FROM RED ROBIN THERE, AN OLD FRIEND FROM YEARS GONE BY. GUESS WHAT HE WAS EATING? YEP, A BIG OL DOUBLE CHEESEBURGERF!!! NO FRIES, DAMMIT!!! `TRUE STORY! HI NANC!!!
Pros: THEY NEVER FORGET THE REGULARS, SO BE A REGULAR!!!
Cons: I'M STILL THINKING!!!
I tried a couple of Buds Burgers the other night after riding my motorcycle around Rampart Range all day. Man-O-Man, these are some good burgers. The first one tasted so good that I wanted to smear one all over my sore can. In fact, that is what I did, I took an extra burger home, shotgunned a few warm PBR's, popped in a nice black on black man love show and rubbed that juicy burger all over my fanny. Then I put some bright red lipstick on the bun and well, you know......... injected a little man-aise into my burger before feeding it to my chained up gimp in the basement.
Top that one Dusty!!!
Pros: Juicy.
Cons: Hard to get off your skin.
I had heard about Bud's for a number of years and one day decided to see what all the fuss was about...
Maybe my expectations were too high, but for the life of me, I don't get all the praise this place gets.
The ambiance is fine, a local almost "road house" atmosphere. I did feel like we were getting "checked out" by the locals, which is okay, I understand that's part of the "charm" of a place like this. The prices are excellent, so nothing to complain about there.
The staff, well, suffice it to say they are not overly concerned with being pleasant. They weren't surly as desrcibed in an earlier post I read here, but more like they just didn't care to much about anything. There is no asking how your burger is to be cooked, forunately I like my burgers more on the well-done side so that was fine. The thing was, I felt like I was eating a pre-made burger I cooked myself from Costco or King Soopers. It wasn't bad, but I was expecting a whole lot more.
Again, the prices were great, the atmosphere was about what I expected, and I would say everyone should try it once, but I know for me, I won't make a special trip again.
Pros: Price, the ability to say you've tried it...
Cons: Service, quailty of food
I like beer, I like women, I like prescription pills, and I like Bud's Burgers. I once ate out a heated wallabee when I had no money, just so I could get a burger from Bud's, I ended up getting a form of rodent venereal disease and the damn wallabee is stalking me now, but it was well worth it to taste that charred meat from the underside of a beastly, corn-fed cow. One of my favorite past-times is taking a girl to Bud's and buying her dinner and a few cocktails, to loosen her up of course, so that she'll let me ravage her body when we get back to my place. Then when we wake up in the morning I kick her out, yank one off, and head back down to Bud's for a hangover curing Bloody Mary. Ah, such good times...
Pros: I am a pro lady wrestler. I'll pin em and stick em every time. I get a hard on in my wrestlin suit.
Cons: Yes, I am a con, acutally an ex-con. Got caught pokin' a sheep's rear on private property.
The first time I went to Bud's was back in 1980 with the Friday Martin lunch crowd. Over the years, the food has stayed the same (great burgers) and the beer is just as cold. For those that haven't been in a while, the smoke has cleared since the law changed last July. All those rumors about how bars would close because of the smoking ban, forget about it, Bud's is still standing room only much of the time. Goes to show you that great food and cold beer will always keep them coming back.
Pros: Small town burger/bar that has stayed consistant with their great burgers & cold beer
Cons: Sometimes you'll have to wait for your table, a little cold inside in the winter
Please dont tell anybody about this GREAT burger spot ..... NO FRIES DAMMIT !! Its alread hard enough to get a seat here on a Saturday at noon. Please dont even ask for fries ! Food Snobs been goin here for 30 years and wants to keep it a secret, so please dont ask for fries and don't tell anybody. Bar none, one of the great double burgers on earth. And the beers always cold.
Pros: The Charm, the food, the help, the beer, the ride......
Cons: ............mmmmmmmmmmm nothing
WHY? What makes these burgers so good that you'd drive for over an hour to get them? No frills, no fries, no fuss...just the best damn burger ever. EVER! Now that I live in Castle Rock, I thought that maybe the "WOW" would wear off. After living out here for 4 years, I still crave them.
Remeliusdesign you must have made the same mistake that many of us have made..... the burger is hard to mistake and the establishment is hard to find. If you have never been to Bud's or Sedalia you may have be mislead by the numerous others that try to cash in on the lore. Signs adorn the roadway leading into Sedalia pointing towards inferior establishments reading "worlds best burgers" and, try our "famous burgers". Many people who travel far to taste the true American original find themselves trapped in a miserable "preformed and frozen" meal. It is only when one ventures over the railroad tracks to the nondescript hole in the wall called Bud's that the true burger is found. "No Fries Dammit" just a bag of chips and a cold bottled beer is all you'll need to realize that the drive is more than worth it....... it is simply an experience that any true burger lover must have. Cheers to Bud's burgers...... do not mistake them (as some of us have in the past) with those served at other, more visible establishments along the way. Truly a great burger!!!
Pros: Unforgettable burgers at an unbelievable price, Great ventilation now that there is no smoking! Small town atmosphere and service
Cons: Waiting for a seat when busy (which seems to be always)
I haven't been back in a while, not becasue of the burgers, but rather the ventilation. The place is always packed, the beer is cold, and the burgers are consistently the same ... good and reasonably priced. So, since July 1st in Colorado ... I would highly recommend Bud's for a good burger in an old fashioned small town dinning experience. No Coke ... Pepsi!
Pros: Unique dining experience, good burgers
Cons: Packed, so plan on waiting for a table
Ok, so for you people who dislike this place, go back and eat at Red Robin you g*d d*mn yuppies! You go here cause you love the food and the cheep beer and NO FRIES!!! Sure its small but thats what makes it great. I mean honestly have you seen the size of Sedalia? They didn't build it thinking that it was going to be hosting 100+ people a night, which it now does. Remember, its small town atmosphere so its not your normal service but thats what makes it great!!!
Pros: Buregers, NO FRIES, Pepsi
Great burgers since 1948, just plain and simple: plain bun, juicy fatty grilled meat, with excellent white onions and crinkled cut pickles on the side. Also on the side: mustard, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. Very nice staff, slow service for assured hot food (about 12 mins on avg.), old jute box with tasty vintage tunes. If you like simple juicy burgers with no thrills, this is your place, oh, cash only and yes, no fries and no Coke, just Pepsi. Enjoy!
Pros: Hot Food, Tasty, Staff
Cons: Slow Food Serv, No Coke
BUD'S has one of the best burgers in Douglas County by far. May be a hole in the wall joints but their burgers are the best.
There are no fries, just chips and mouth watering hamburgers!
Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly, Casual
Cons: Limited parking, Crowded
I WAS INTRODUCED TO BUDS BY A FRIEND WHO'S BEEN GOING TO BUD'S FOR YEARS AND NEEDLESS TO SAY I AM NOW A LIFE TIME CUSTOMER. ITS STRANGE HOW A BURGER CAN BE SO DAMM GOOD.
Cons: WAITING FOR A TABLE
Great local place for burgers that reminded me of the "up north" joints in Wisconsin, even down to the shorty beer glasses. Sort of quirky, added to it's charm. I was taken there by a "local" after I'd lived in the area long enough to rate a visit to score the best burgers in town. Only disadvantage was waiting a bit for service and food.
Pros: inexpensive, great chow, no tourists
Cons: , long wait for food
Old small town country bar. Rustic atmosphere. Greatest Burgers any where! Hot and juicey, fresh from the grill.
This place has been a long-time favorite of the Lockheed-Martin crowd for Friday lunches. The burgers ARE good.
The service can be kind of surly at times. If you ask for fries, you may receive a dirty look or comment. Seriously, the place is worth a visit, though.
Pros: Best burgers
Buds, what can you say? Ol' Thurmond is behind the bar with a cig, the "gals", the cowboys and the bikers are present and the penultimate of high (Castle Pines Villiage) society are there in blue-jeans. Why? BUDS BURGERS. My mother-in-law (RIP) wouldn't consider darkening the door step of a "bar" but she ALWAYS wanted to go to Buds. THE BEST BURGER ANYWHERE. Why? Some say it's the meat, some say it's the grill, some say it's the karma, but whatever it is, it's the best DAMN Burger - NO FRIES- anywhere
Pros: Burgers, Double Burgers, Burgers
Cons: Sedalia, Crowded, Parking on the street
Well worth the short drive to Sedalia to have these burgers. Get there early, as the word on Bud's has been out for years.
Pros: Great Food, Small town atmosphere, Inexpensive
Best burgers in CO, found in an old bar in Sedalia. Been going there for 25 years, still the same great burgers (please don't ask for fries), comes with chips, onion and pickles, that's it, only food in the bar, but more than worth the drive. Come early at noon, ALWAYS crowded.
Pros: Inexpensive
The best burger and coldest beer anywhere from the moment you walk in you know youare in a bar but its a great bar good people great food and ice cold beer
They have the best DAMN burger in Colorado, hands down. Now I live 1 1/2 hours from there and it is a bummer.
Pros: The staff, The burgers, The price
Cons: The wait
Want a good, greasy hamburger or cheeseburger with a fresh bun, sliced onions and pickles, served with a cold beer or your favorite beverage?
If not, don't go to Buds.
The drive to Sadalia is relaxing and there's good scenery.
Try it, you'll come back over and over and over again.
Pros: great burgers, cold, cold beer, service with a smile
Cons: waiting to be seated
