Its weird, we drove by and I said "wow there is 4 g's, that place was great when I was there a couple years ago." Unfortunately, not everything gets better with age. Now, I know we all have had bad experiences at some points, when we visit restaurants. Rarely does everything go bad at the same visit, but it did. Right from walking in the building, we couldn't get seated, to the chips, to the service, to the length of time to get the food, to the time to get the check. Usually what this says to me is that there is no sheperd tending the flock.

Pros: not sure anymore

Cons: cold , thoughtlessly made food that took too long.

I live right by this place and was hoping for a hole in the wall neighborhood restaurant to frequent. I have been several times and the food is consistently bad. I will drive the drive for better mexican (I am a mexican food junkie!)

Tried the new Aurora 4 G's on South Havana Street. Service was slow and unforgettable. Had to remind the waiter that we would like chips and salsa, which was never offered. Asked if there was a kids menu, none offered. Asked for a couple of margarita's, to which our waiter responded, "What time is it?" I knew where he was going with this and I assured him it was before seven and yes it is still happy hour. Asked again for chips and salsa, along with some water. 5 minutes later the chips (non-descript) and salsa (good flavor with a little kick) came. Asked then for water (again). Margarita's came, remind me to get beer next time and we ordered. Plates came later with the waiter putting my wife's combo meal in front of my child and his plate in front of my wife. He then argued that we ordered a burrito plain, no sauce and a combo plate. Well, he was right, that's what we ordered but the combo was devoid of sauce or anything else, while my son's burrito was covered in sauce and veggies. Finally get him to take the plates away. Meanwhile, while he is gone, somebody else comes over and gives my son some crayons and yes, a child's menu. Food comes again and it was eatable, nothing special. Our waiter did keep coming back and asking if we wanted anything else like dessert, thought after two times he would get it but he did on the third "no". This was pretty much the norm for our section of the restaurant. As the headline implies, there was a mariachi band, which was very enjoyable. When we were leaving, noticed they even forgot to turn on their outdoor lights and the place looked desolate at 8 pm. As for the 4 G's on Havana, maybe some growing pains but with two other Mexican places within walking distance of their parking lot, I'd say, try the other two first. As to the reviewer from years ago that said the most authentic food was from 4 G's, I wish I would have relatives writing those kinds of nice words about me too!

Pros: Mariachi band on Fridays

Cons: Service, limited menu w/no substitutions

The prices were average, but everything else was below average. The food was barely edible, and the service was lousy, even though they appeared to have more than enough staff to handle the small crowd.

They used sugar instead of salt on my margarita, and the margarita was the worst I have ever had.

The bathroom had lots of mirrors, but they all appeared to have been wiped with a wet, soapy rag and left to dry. They were so streaked you couldn't see yourself. The floors were filthy, and no changing table.

If your idea of good mexican food is Chili's or Colorado Hacienda, then 4G's is NOT for you.

If you are looking for the most authentic Mexican food in the state, this is it. My wife and I grew up less than 1 hour from the Mexican border and have spent countless days and weeks in Mexico. We know the real deal when we see it and this is it.

The Breakfast Burrito with scrambled eggs, chorizo and cheese smothered in Green Chile will cut through any hanger. The shredded beef tacos make you think you are back down there.

Very children friendly and the value cannot be beat anywhere. I believe our last breakfast for 4 people was under $15 including tax and tip.

Es El Mas Mejor en el estado!
