I have shopped in the Denver for three years, and I will only buy my running shoes from Runners Roost. Almost everyone in the store is a runner and they have bent over backwards to make sure that I get the running shoes that are correct

After a few trips to this store, I am not misjudging that customers are not returning here for the customer service. I was barely spoken to, and the ladies working seemed disturbed by my being there. After I asked, the saleswoman did help, but only minimally (and barely spoke, much less smiled). I've worked retail, and if you could see this transaction you would have thought I was the sales person trying to make her smile. I could understand a 'bad day' but this was over several trips. I would rather spend more money elsewhere, or take my chances on-line. I think most customers want to feel welcome, at least I do.

I'm posting in response to the other user's experience, since I was also sold the wrong pair of shoes. In my case, the salesperson recommended (and rightly so, as it turned out) that I go up a size but then he brought the wrong pair to the counter. I didn't notice either, and so ended up running in the wrong shoes. I didn't try to return them because I didn't want to go back -- my experience there wasn't great, even without ending up with the wrong shoes. I found the staff there to be very snobbish -- a woman who was working with another customer (seemed like maybe she was the owner?) chided me for looking in the mirror when I tried on a pair of shoes. It was embarassing and totally unnecessary.

Much better place to shop is Road Runner Sports in Westminster. The staff there are very friendly and helpful, and I've never had any problems.

After a 15 second analysis of my son's stride, they incorrectly determined that he needed a shoe for overpronation. 6 weeks later, we now are facing several visits to a physical therapist to undo the damage that the wrong shoe has caused. He should have been placed in a neutral shoe. Worthless advice - consider yourself warned!!

I want to share the experiences I have had at 2 local running shops this month with all of you:

I went into a Runner's Roost a few weeks ago looking for help with running shoes, bought the $95 shoes they recommended, and now my feet are killing me. I went back in and they told me that they put me in the wrong shoes.

Well, their return policy is that you can only return the shoes if you don't run outside in them. These felt fine when I ran in them inside several times, but after doing one long run (I only went running outside in the shoes 3 times and had them for 2 weeks), my feet were killing me. They told me that they would give me 40% off another pair of shoes (without crediting me for the first shoes), but I didn't think it was fair that they wanted me to pay to get more shoes when they admitted that they gave me the wrong shoes in the first place. IMO, they should have credited me the value of the old shoes toward a new pair.

I was so angry that I decided I would rather pay full price for a new pair in another store than give Runner's Roost another cent of my money. I went to the another store and told them what happened at the Runner's Roost. The salesman at the new store immediately got the owner help me. He had me try on 6 pairs of shoes, watched me run in the pairs that felt good, and then proceeded to take back the shoes that Runner's Roost sold me! I only had to pay a $28 difference. I will never shop at Runner's Roost again.

Pros: can't think of any

Cons: horrible customer service, inexperienced staff

If you are a runner, you know how important it is to have the correct shoe. The Runners Roost will fit you for the right shoe for your gait. The prices are higher, but you will have less pain if you wear the shoe they suggest.

The clothing and shoes here are so marked up it's ridiculous. The employees are rude and condesending. When I checked out, the woman that rung me up talked on her cell phone and never even said one word to me. Awful!

Runners Roost specializes in running shoes and apparel. The salespeople are very knowledgeable, and take the time to individually measure your feet for to find the best running shoe for you. They do have a treadmill so they can analyze your running style, but you have to make sure and ask to use it.
