I went there to get a dog a few weeks back, and I had when I finally picked a dog I had to sit around forever waiting for someone to give me a visit, and the staff seemed much more interested in chatting with each other then helping people. But the dog seemed nice, so I didn't care all that much. They told me no other mixing with other dogs, and they said it would take some time go get use to my cats. I didn't even have it for 24 hours and it attacked and killed my cat, so I tried to call them and see if I could take the dog back and get another one, or at the very least get my money back. They said no, and tried to pin it all on me saying they said they told me it was bad with cats. I don't really call them saying "it would take some time" as telling me that it would kill my cat the minute I turned my back. I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN, and I don't recommend that anyone else goes here either. It cost me alot of time, money, and the life of one of my best friends. The only thing I can suggest to these people if you want people to adopt your animals, get an attitude check, learn some costumer appreciation, and stop lying to people about your dogs because these dogs could be very sweet animals if they went to the right home.
PRO'S: Some Good Animals There
CON'S: Rude and Lying Staff that doesn't want to help or care about the costumer.

Very caring people with difficult jobs to do. Everything was clean and the animals looked as relaxed and content as they could in that situation. Unlucky animals to be unwanted, but lucky to have found this place.

The Weld County Humane Society has to rank in the top 10% of humane societies in the area, if not the country. The staff is committed to providing a loving safe environment for all their animals in spite of the many difficulties they have experienced with a sluggish economy, new construction, and problems with a community that harbors individuals who hoard animals in horrid conditions. They consistently exhibit empathy with their public, and care diligently for poor, abused animals.I've had several experiences in adopting several dogs and a cat over the years and have always had positive experiences .my cat was almost euthanized but saved at the last minute by the observant handler who detected his quirky personality and refused to go through the procedure. That speaks volumes about the atmosphere prevalent in this facility!

The "review" that was posted is dated 2005. I've been to the humane society and have adopted two dogs. The staff are very caring and did an excellent job with the adoption procedure. They have a difficult job and most people don't understand what the animals have been through and what the staff experience emotionally.

We decided to get a dog and went to the Humane Society. We found a little dog that was shy but seemed to tolerate my children well. Decided to spend some time with it and the trainer came in and told us about the dog. Said they had found the animal under some steps and he had parasites all over him. She did say that she had worked with him for about 2 weeks and he was doing very well. Fine.

Spent $80 for the dog, plus all the side stuff we bought at Pet Smart for him. Get the dog home and it would not move out of the kennel. Would not eat, would not do anything. SO I called and I was told that they had the dog for about 8 weeks and it had some very bad social problems. So they lied to us at the shelter.

This continued for weeks. Finally I called them back and they agreed to an exchange. We returned the dog to them (the dog was very sick too, had blood in its stools, would throw up constantly, etc.) and when we got there we were ignored for almost 35 minutes while their staff ran around and socialized.

They finally recognized us and then REFUSED to take the dog back. I had to fight with them over the fact that the dog had severe behavioral problems and per THEIR POLICY the dog could be returned and despite the fact that this person told me over the phone I could exchange. The person wasn't there so they finally said to come back when that person was there, which was 2 weeks later as they were on vacation.

I would NEVER adopt a pet from this place again. They are rude, inconsiderate, and plan nasty. They lie to people to get their money and then don't even back up their own policies.

PROS: NONE
CONS: Customer Service, Lies about animals
