I have worked out at many Gym's over the years. the Matrix is by far the best one. First of all, the parking is free. I never have to worry about forgetting my card because i don't have one. The front desk person remember's my name and just type's it in her computer. As far a funcitionality it has everything i need, and the Touch screen LCD entertainment doesn't hurt either. It is very clean and the staff very neat and professional. It hardly feels like your typical gym at all. It feels more like a European health club RIght here in Denver. I am a member and Love it .
I have been a member here for 9 months and I have enjoyed every second of it! There are plenty of machines, new equiptment, friendly staff, and great classes. I moved from Boulder and was a member at Rally Sport. It was difficult finding a gym that could compete with Rally Sport until I discovered Matrix. Well worth the extra $. This is not a gym that focuses on number of members but instead the quality of membership.
I recently became a member to Matrix at the beginning of December 2010 and I love it. I have extensive experience with gyms as I have been a fitness enthusiast for almost 10 years. I have been a member of nearly 15 gyms in Illinois, DC, Kansas and Colorado and this gym is one of the best.
While it is a physically smaller gym than say 24 Hour Fitness and the Denver and Colorado Athletic Clubs, its facilities appear to be better. Don't get me wrong, there is no doubt that Matrix is more expensive than your 24 Hour fitness. However, you will actually enjoy working out at Matrix due to the uncrowded facility, friendly staff and excellent equipment. When I was a member at 24 Hour Fitness, I avoided the 4pm to 7pm hours like the plague due to the overcrowding, but at Matrix, those are the hours I typically go now!
While I really like Denver Athletic Club, it is far too expensive for a single guy who simply wants a nice place to work out.
Therefore, I recommend Matrix wholeheartedly.
I have been working out in Matrix since august. And the first thing I have to say about this place is that there are very professional and respectful staff. You can have a lot of benefits with your memebership and the place by itself motivates you to work out and take care of yourself. Another good thing about this place is that it is never crowded, you can go there any time and you will find a place for you to work out.
The trainers are very professional people and they can challenge you according to your skills and interests. I only would like to suggest one thing: To make Matrix be open until 11pm instead of 10pm. every weekday.
In other words, Matrix Fitness and Spa is an awesome gym to workout and to learn more about yourself and also to meet other people. I am so glad to have found this place.
I have been a member for about a year now. I was never one that enjoyed working out, but i joined to try and learn to love it. Matrix is the ideal place to work out if you want a smaller environment, relaxed setting, and convenient location. The entire staff is fun and friendly, the front desk girl knew my name the first week i joined and now i can just stroll in and say hi and im good to go. Everyone was really helpful when i had a billing issue a few months ago too which normally could have been really frustrating.
I just recently started enjoying XBike (even though its the hardest class i have ever experienced) as well as Amber's yoga classes on Mondays and Wednesdays.
I highly recommend Matrix !!
I was a member of the gym about 3.5 years ago until work took me out of state. I did enjoy the gym at that time, mainly for the equipment and amentities but was often taken back by some of their employees. Now I'm happy to say that I am both back in Denver and back at Matrix. The entire club (gym and spa) is under new management and you can tell!! Everything that I loved before is still there but the vibe now is great. Everyone is incredbily helpful and genuine when you you interact with them. I am so happy with my decision to rejoin and absolutely love everything about the club, especially Xbike!
Great Staff! Anwesome atmosphere, go check it out.
This gym is great! It is never too crowded and the equipment is pretty good. You can always find the equipment that you need. The training staff is very friendly and helpful. I took the X-Bike class during lunch hour on mondays, wednesdays, and fridays, it is a great way to get back in shape and really feel like you have accomplished something at the gym.
Overall: Matrix is a welcoming and motivating place to work out.
Matrix Fitness and Spa is a great place! Super nice people right from the start (the receptionist knows your name !!!) When I singed up I was new to the fitness world but they all made me fill like I'm one of them. Really good personal trainers and also great fitness group schedule. It's not crowded and the locker rooms are very nice. Good place to work out and make friends!
I contracted a STAPH INFECTION from the spa!!
What a horrible experience!! I started going a few months ago and had no complaints except the price. But it's close to my house so convenience over rules. So I REALLY liked how I could stop into the spa to take care of my waxing and occasionally treat myself to a massage. UNTIL I left with STAPH.
I've been getting waxed for years and only once did my skin react badly and break out from clogged pores afterward. So, I thought that's what happened. But over the following three days the blisters on my face kept spreading and spreading until I ran to the doctor's and well . . you get the picture. I had to call out of my NEW job for the next three days, pay $150 for doc apt (no insurance) and $89 for the medication. Then deal with the antibiotics messing with my stomach and the embarrassing Staph on my face!! It's been three weeks now and it looks like there's going to be a scar but I have my fingers crossed it will fade.
I did my research online and after speaking with the doctor extensively about the issue have found that this is not uncommon in spa's that don't take the proper measure to ensure OUR safety.Such as using a different utensil to dip into wax (which isn't hot enough to kill bacteria) each and everytime!! Two women even died last year in New Jersey from getting a pedicure because of the staff not properly cleaning equipment. SCARY!
Yes, they refunded my $12 but when I went in today to speak with the owner, she refused to step out of office to have a 15 minute conversation about the ordeal. Stating to the front desk that it wasn't something SHE deals with. That she's JUST the owner of the gym and not involved with these matters.
REALLY? Because she was the one who was running the front desk the day I walked in. She gave me the tour and she's the one who actually sat down with me and helped fill out my contract with them and set up my bank account information. She was very involved that day!
It would have shown a lot to have come out and give me 15 minutes of her time so I could tell her exactly what happened, what I found out about how it happened and hopefully it won't happen to someone else. And to hear her apologize and say that she's addressed the issue.
I've lost all respect for how they run things. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THE SPA AGAIN, but after the way the owner has handeled this, how am I supposed to even think of spending my money there at the gym either??
Matrix is an outstanding fitness center and spa!
I have been a member there for several years, and I'm always greeted with a warm and friendly smile by the employees.
The trainers are very helpful with workout techniques and teaching new exercises.
The spa is very luxurious and comfortable.
I've had many restorative and healing massages there!
If you're looking for a fitness center or spa in Denver, Matrix is the place to be!
Like I said, WOW! This gym is amazing! There are so many great things, I dont know where to begin. I have been a member at Matrix for about 6 months now. My only regret is that i havent been here longer. All the staff there is so friendly. I walk in and Ben at the front desk knows my name, knows how many towels i want, and always seems genuinely happy to see me. Then i start my workout and am greeted by all the trainors. I feel so welcome here. I have been training with Matt and he is great! He adapts his style to my needs and no one training session is the same with him. The equipment here is state of the art, lcd screens on every piece of cardio equipment, and i never have to wait for a machine. Did I mention free parking? Good luck finding that anywhere else. Matrix is a top of the line gym and is worth every penny!
Pros: Free Parking, Great Service, Awesome Trainers
Cons: Only one, I wish it was a chain!
There is no receptionist at the spa you check yourself in. The sheets smelled dingy like they were kept in a old closet. No one was downstairs to let me in had to buzz up. If I didnt have a gc I would have never gone, its 85 for just a basic swedish and honestly there are plenty of other spas in denver that do just as good of a massage for way way less... They have to be out of their minds if they think they are gonna stay busy at the prices set. Just like most spas who dont get it im sure they will follow the rest of the overpriced spas and go under.
Pros: Rooms are pretty
Cons: Customer service, Price.
I joined the Matrix Fitness Spa in Jan 2009 and I was excited to work out there. I then got very sick and was unable to work out for almost 4 months. I was told during the sales pitch that they are willing to freeze accounts due to illness. I came to them and asked them to freeze my account for ongoing health issues and asked for a refund for the months that I was very ill. I provided the requested documentation. After getting the run-around for weeks, I encountered a barrage of 'policies' that are nowhere to be found in the contract and which I have yet to see in writing. I would also get read receipts for my e-mails and then be told that my e-mails were not received?! They did finally refund 1.5 months after I formally complained and threatened to take legal action. I also just found out that they charged me again for the month of July after I was told that my account was frozen. So now I have to deal with them on this issue.
This gym is expensive - $99/ month for basic membership. I was told that such was justified due to the superior customer service and individual attention....are you kidding me!!!!!!
Only use this gym if you can afford to pay ridiculous fees indefinitely, and if you don't value common sense and customer service.
Cons: bad billing, bad customer service, expensive membership fees
I have belonged to a number of gyms- both in Denver and elsewhere in the country. I wish that there was a place where you could sign up just for classes, because I don't care about anything else, really. Anyway, I joined Matrix recently and I have to say that I enjoy the genuinely friendly staff. The class studio is really small, so I don't know how they are going to accomodate people as their membership grows, but the workout provided is top notch. It would be great if they added some more classes. BodyPump, BodyVive, things of that nature, and also provided them on weekends beyond 9 a.m. But to be fair, no other gym in Denver offers classes as late as the Matrix offers them and I appreciate it for that very reason. I have the impression that Matrix has recently changed hands and I hope the new management continues to make improvements. For the moment, I enjoy the personal attention and the quality workout.
Pros: Friendly staff, clean, well-appointed space, reasonable pricing
Cons: Parking is a little sketchy and I wish they offered more classes, especially on weekends
I am a gym-phobe and have tried everything from the Y and rec centers to Ballys and 24 Hr Fitness and have never felt comfortable at them. I love Matrix and feel comfortable there, though. It's small but I never have to wait for a machine; it seems to be steadily busy no matter what time I'm there. I love that I can park in the garage for free. I'm not sure what the previous poster was talking about -- the door to Matrix is immediately next to the parking spots and I have never walked in to find no one at the front desk (on the contrary, there's usually someone checking you in, someone folding towels, someone else just hanging out). Everyone there keeps to themselves (read: not a meat market) but is really friendly and the staff are just awesome. The facility is really clean. The showers are clean and well-stocked, the towels smell good, the locker room is always spotless, the sauna is clean. It's just a really comfortable place, they have good deals on things, the people are nice, and the lcd tvs make that long stairmaster workout feel shorter!
Pros: Machines, trainers, atmosphere, very clean, comfortable, variety of workout options
Cons: It's a little pricey, they could use more classes (kickboxing or zumba would be great!)
With all the options of spas in the Denver area, you'd think that one would go above and beyond to keep clients coming through the door. I visited the Matrix spa once and that is enough for me. The facial treatment I received was fine, nothing I'd rave about to my friends however. I've been to different spas and clinics throughout this area and now know to mark this one off my list. I don't feel I got the information I was looking for and was stuck with products I didn't need (they have a no return policy that no one bothered to tell me about). I'm happily going elsewhere.
After moving a few states away from Colorado I miss working out at Matrix. The gym, equipment, customer service and over all experience is unbeatable. If you are looking for a gym to join give Matrix a chance and you will be amazed. BELIEVE ME you cannot find a club like this anywhere else!!!
Pros: Everything, equipment, group ex classes, staff, spa!!
This experiance was so wonderful. I have been to a few spas in the past. But the MATRIX was top of the line in products, care, and packages. You have to do a full day with the facial expert and the wonderful message artist.
Thanks again MATRIX your #1
Pros: EVERYTHING... its is just a wonderful atmosphere
Cindy Romero at Matrix Spa is simple amazing. After five sessions with her, she is slowly correcting the years of abuse I have so generously provided my 41 year old body. She is concentrating on posture which is allowing the rest of my body to get in line. I highly recommend her!
Pros: All good
Cons: Just need to go more often
This place has a horrible staff. The owner and manager are never available to discuss problems with billing. They overcharged me every month of my membership (above and beyond what was agreed upon in my contract) and then refused to refund the charges that were their mistake. Stay away from this place.
Pros: Your self esteem is boosted because you're surrounded by idiots.
Cons: Awful staff. Lazy and unprofessional. They take your money
I've been working out at Matrix for two years now, four or five times a week. It's not perfect, but it is by far the best gym I've found. The equipment is in good shape, the locker rooms are nice and reasonably clean, and it's never too crowded. The TV monitors have been janky for a while, but they're being fixed later this month (and I don't ever want to go back to a gym where I don't get my own TV). It's a great place to go if you like to work out and do your thing without being bothered by some over-gelled, loud dude trying to sell you stuff you don't want. The location is convenient and the attached parking (no extra charge) is awesome.
Pros: atmosphere, equipment, parking, convenience
I loved my massage and the staff was very informative on products they offer. I will try the facials next!
Pros: Great Location
Matrix Fitness and Spa is the place to be! I have been a member for 9 months now. Friendly and informative staff is what keeps me coming back every day. If you want to loose weight Emilee is your go-to girl. She has been my personal trainer for several months and helped me loose 20 lbs!!! She designes great workouts and her diet tips are awesome. All group classes at Matrix are super fun. Try all Emilee's and Cliff's classes - fun, challenging and easy to follow.
Members get 10% off at the Spa. Try Caitlin's facials, she is also great yoga teacher!
Professionals and other people short on time will love this gym. The membership cap means that I have never waited for a piece of equipment in the three months since I joined. The locker rooms are a spectacular mix of wood and stone you would expect to see at a much more expensive club. Matrix has a pretty classy crowd and you won't have meatheads grunting and banging weight off their chest or leering at women. Group fitness classes are run by very professional and knowledgeable trainers (don't know what some other jokers are talking about) that will not hesitate to push you safely. Emilee, Cliff , and Anthony alone are worth it! But sometimes I wish there were more very early or very late because of my work schedule. The classes are rarely full since everyone is outside during the summer anyway. But other places in town are either packed (24 hour fitness) or charge way too much for being in run down dumpy old buildings (Denver/Colorado Athletic Club). Practical people, that want a bit of style in their gym, and are looking for good equipment and not a social hour will be very pleased.
Pros: Locker Room, Small Classes, Trainers, New Equipment, Clean Gym, Fresh Towels, Clientele
Cons: Class times for workaholics
I have had a great experience as a member of this gym. It is definitely not your typical Bally's or 24 hour Fitness--it is much smaller and has a cap on their membership so it doesn't get too crowded. I never have to wait for machines.
-Each cardio machine has an individual TV screen/computer monitor and you can choose from reading the news online, watching 10 or so different channels, or listening to the radio.
-Has any and all machines/equipment that I would want
-Good selection of classes, including yoga, pilates, spin, and kickboxing (all included with membership fee)
-Friendly and competent instructors and great staff all around
-Locker rooms and entire facility is very nice--extremely clean and fancy looking
-parking in garage is included in membership
-separate spin theater room with fancy bikes
-discount for member for spa serivces
-The locker rooms are on the small side and can sometimes feel crowded
-The group exercise room is too small, some classes feel crowded
Everyday I look forward to my time at The Matrix because it is the one part of my day I am confident that I will be able to accomplish every thing I arrived to do in a friendly and professional atmosphere. The equipment is great, you never have to wait, and each has its own TV. Working out and getting caught up on the news, what a great use of time! Group exercise classes are small, encouraging and fun when you feel like you need an extra push to a great workout. Did I mention the cleanliness of the gym, free parking, and a spa in the same location?! I am incredibly satisfied with my club membership and the staff do an incredible job of making sure I have the experience they promise. I would certainly recommend The Matrix to anyone looking for an ABOVE average gym; you won?t be disappointed!
When you're at the store buying produce...a lot of times it looks great, but sometimes you go to take a bite and its mushy and rotted in the center...that's how I'd describe Matrix...tts clean, the people look professional on the outside, and the equipment aint bad...but go to them with a billing problem or a suggestion and they treat you like a second class citizen...these people are disproportionately rude and dont give two cents about their customers...buyer beware
Pros: clean, nice equipment
Cons: Rude and unhelpful to the extreme making you not want to be there.
I am so pleased with my decision to join Matrix that I can't help but share it with others. I find every interaction to be personable and the amenities very accessible! My experience begins with my free covered parking and I cannot wait to get a massage.
I have been to many gyms in Denver and love this place. Spinning classes are great here...I wish they offered day passes.
I recently moved to Denver and shortly after joined the Matrix. For the first time in a while I actually look forward to going to the gym! No matter when you go you can always get on a treadmill. I also started an X-Bike class that is really kicking my butt. I would definately recommend this place to friends and family.
Pros: Parking! Service. Cleanliness.
I joined this club several months after it first opened (a couple years ago). It started out great, but its gone downhill over the last few years. Administratively, they are uncooperative and don't take guest feedback or problems into serious consideration. I've had moments where more than one employee were downright rude to me. I have cancelled my membership, and I do not recommend this gym.
Cons: inattentive and at times rude.
Great vibe, up to date machines, and the best location. I have not tried the spa yet but am trying to.
I visited this gym while I was in town on business. I took a yoga class and the instructor was ten minutes late. The instructor knew very little about yoga when I asked questions about poses. The locker room was so small there wasn't even enough room to change my mind in it. Not recommended.
Cons: Staff has VERY little training.
I just moved to Denver and am used to going to great top notch SPA's all over the U.S. Matrix is unlike any SPA I have been to, it has the total package! The facility is beautiful, my massage with Lucy was phenomenal and best of all the staff was down to earth and I felt at home there. They offered me hot tea when I sat down and I snuggled up on the couch in their sitting area. After my treatment, I was able to grab a robe and steam in the facilities steam room which was a great unexpected treat. I will be back for sure! Lucy, you ROCK! :)
Pros: Not snooty, top rate providers, free covered parking, exclusive feeling!!
Cons: Ummm.... I can't have it everyday?
The resident aesthetician, Jordan, is incredible. Her facials are increbily relaxing and she customizes it to your skin type. She has made my skin look years younger!
Pros: Amazing facials
Matrix Fitness and Spa is a second to NONE retreat for your intense workouts and rejuvenating spa treatments.
It's clean, never crowded, competitively priced, and friendly. I thought this place was going to be outrageously expensive for all the amenities they offer and I was completely wrong.
The yoga and pilates classes taught by Becky are comfortable for all experience levels and although she'll keep you smiling with her bubbly personality, you're also going to get a killer work-out.
The spa is gorgeous. I had an incredible massage and would recommend this place to anyone. Matrix Spa is where you can relax and get some "me" time!
They even have FREE parking!
When you're done getting pampered in the spa...head downstairs to Wholly Tomato for one of the tastiest and healthiest meals in Denver!
Pros: Clean, Competitively Priced, Friendly Atmosphere, Every machine you could ask for, Great yoga and pilates classes, they also offer Spin, Free garage parking
I joined Matrix Fitness and Spa in September and I am looking forward to enjoying my new found love for fitness and spa services for months to come. Matrix has been the only gym Ive enjoyed going to because of the relaxed and incredibly clean environment. I love the fact that membership is limited because its not ever overly crowded or loud. Another great thing is that the staff is friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. I started to fit in workouts on a more regular basis this month, and will continue to do so because for the first time ever I actually enjoy going to the gym. It is also great that there is a spa right off of the gym. It makes the nightmare of scheduling much easier and it is fantastic to have one place to work out and get spa services.
Pros: How easy it is to schedule spa appointments, the free covered parking, and relaxed and welcoming environment
The facility is gorgeous and cleanliness is a huge plus!! The environment you get when you mix the spa with a full workout room is perfect!! If you haven't seen the club yet-you must!!
This fitness Spa has everything! The staff is great, the members are great and so is the treatment you receive! My massages are amazing, and the facials are to die for. I'm going to become a member soon! Don't miss out---This *IS* the place to be!
Pros: Treatments, Parking, Incentives
I HAD A GREAT MASSAGE AT THE MATRIX AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!
All I can say is that the place is beautiful. It's right in the heart of downtown and the skyline is breath taking while you workout. The spa is not only relaxing but it is uplifting. The staff and therapists are very respectful and friendly. My massage was excellent and the rooms are incredible. Each room has a different theme and each therapist as well. I LOVE IT!!
This place is one of the best clubs I have ever been a member of. The staff is so friendly and the trainers are so personal. The best part is they have a great Spa!
Pros: Free Parking, Clean, Great Staff
