.

This is a World Class Lodge, most affordable in the off-season. The small, cheaper rooms, are too small to feel like you've actually got your money's worth, so spring for a small suite if you can. The building is gorgeous, rooms a beautiful and comfy, ice comes to you from room service (no ice bins), the on-site restaurant is amazing (Wildflower), and staff will bend over backwards to do anything you need. Free WiFi in rooms, nice comfy, heavy bathrobes, huge double marble sinks in bathroom, wonderful huge beds, and TV's in both rooms of the suites. Swimming pool is covered, but if you ask to use it they'll take the cover off-- it's just covered in the off-season because few people use it. But it is indeed open. 4 hot tubs. The town of Vail is wonderful, but if you go off-season, expect many things to be closed such as the chair lifts, wildflower garden, some businesses, and some tours. Still worth it. They recommend that you stay at 5,000 feet for two days before staying at the Lodge (which is at 8,000 feet) so you don't get altitude sickness. We found this to be good advice, but if you have trouble, call the front desk and they'll give you the doctor's number. He has a product that should help.
