My wife and I certainly enjoyed a lovely lunch buffet at India's Clay Oven Lone Tree location today. We were seated right away and our drink order was quickly taken. The large menu looked enticing, but the vast selection of food items at the buffet stole our palate away.

I must admit, the taste of the food outweighs the overall appearance. We enjoyed such Indian specialties such as Chicken Tandoori, Chicken Curry, Basmati Rice, Cucumbers with a light mustard dressing. We really liked the lightly breaded potato balls and the potato/zucchini combination in a special sauce. For dessert we chose the lightly fried cheese balls soaked in a light syrup. Absolutely delicious! All this for $8.99 per person.

Cons: Can be noisy if crowded; lackluster atmosphere/decor

The food was very good, but way too expensive. We just moved here and are used to an Indian restaurant on just about every corner with competitive prices.

I eat at the India Clay Oven for the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet quite often. They offer a large selection of various types of food but I find myself loading up on the naan, curry chicken, rice, and tandoori chicken. The flavors are outstanding and the food texture is consistent and fresh. I've been here 15 - 20 times and haven't had a bad meal. Service can be a little sketchy from time-to-time when they're busy but I'm a fairly patient person. It's not unusual to have to ask for drink refills and the check. I've only had dinner there a couple times and it was OK. The lunch buffet is the real value.

This is by far the worst Indian restaurant we've tried in the Denver area, or anywhere -- San Francisco, Santa Fe, New York, London. We went for dinner on a Saturday night. The food was mediocre at best -- my wife's vegetarian thali sampler was served at barely even room temperature, leading us to suspect it was leftovers from the lunch buffet. My chicken vindaloo was tolerable, but very mild -- the curry sauce was thick, but far from "hot," despite the menu description. And the chicken did not seem to have been cooked in the sauce, but rather to be pre-cooked chunks added later. While this dish was served a bit warmer than room temperature, it was far from hot temperaturewise, too. It also was overpriced at $12.95 for quite a small portion.

The ambience leaves a lot to be desired, as well. The dining room is large, noisy and harshly lit, with no background music that we could hear. Worse, my wife, who is allergic, began to suffer all the symptoms of being around a cat. We first assumed someone seated near us must have a cat at home, but even after the party next to us left, this problem grew worse throughout the meal, so much so that she had to go outside while I waited (and waited) for the check.

But the worst aspect of our evening here was the service. First off, there was no host/hostess; we were waved to a table from across the room by a harried waiter. OK, no big deal, maybe. And the casually tossed-down silverware (forks upside down, etc.) would have been acceptable in a diner, but this is a fairly pricey place. And three times -- THREE TIMES -- servers asked us for our orders, then turned away to talk to co-workers before we could even respond. Then, at the end of the meal, I was left waiting 10 minutes or more for the check, which came to $50 for two, with only one drink apiece.

Needless to say, we will not be returning.

Cons: Terrible service, ambience lacking, mediocre food.

The decor and ambiance was very nice and service was pretty good. They do have a very extensive selection of dishes. But everything we had there was way to salty, thus marring the experience and making the taste experience mediocre.

What a great place to take your friends or family. The owner greets you personally and the food is the best we have had after trying over a dozen Indian restaurants in the local area. The tikka marsala and sauce is to die for! It is also a great place for kids as even my son who is sometimes picky loves it. The appetizer sampler is a must and don't forget the naan bread. Atmosphere is more geared towards family and the prices are unbelievably good. Servers have always been polite and prompt.

Definitely would highly recommend!

Pros: Great food at a great price. Good service and great menu.

Cons: No extra frills on decor, but very clean and satisfactory.

I've been to this restaurant twice now and I've loved it each time. The first time I went in, the owner came to our table and took our order. To our surprise, she added in a few extra dishes to the normal dinner for two. The naan is wonderful and the masala is perfectly spiced. The pistachio "ice cream" is to die for. The ambiance isn't anything to write home about, but as long as you're going here to eat rather than to soak up the atmosphere, you won't leave disappointed.
