KC Flavor in Denver!

I travel frequently to Kansas City for work and this is a local place that has a similar taste and texture. Thye are a little pricy, but i believe this is due to the serving size and meat quality.

I would suggest for people from KC to visit here!

This is one of my favorite places to eat. It is a hole in the wall with picnic tables and red checker table cloths. Definitely nothing fancy, but the meat is great and the sauces are even better. I love the spicy sauce. Sides are basic backyard BBQ sides like beans and potato salad. Beans are best. Don't expect fancy and if you have a large group, you might want to get take-out since it is very small. Definitely try the burnt tips and also the links (although it seems like everyone has different taste when it comes to sausage).

I have been going to brickyard BBQ for many years and Love the food. Recently i have been traveling to Dallas, Houston and KC and sampling the local BBQ. Now that i have had some of america's famous BBQ (Sonny Bryans Smokehouse BBQ Dallas, TX, Gates BBQ KC, KS, Jack Stacks KC, KS, Houston Barbecue Company, Houston, TX) i do have to say this is a local treat in Denver and reminds me of the KC style of BBQ.

If you are a KC native and looking for a little taste of KC BBQ, i would give this a try.

Small portions and expensive! I've seen 5 year old kids that can eat more food than you receive from this joint.

This place was not even what I expected from the fire hot red brick and picnic table cloths. Bbq what BBQ! The food tasted like meat with sauce put on it.. NOT the bbq taste you would expect. We got a 1/2 rack of ribs and coleslaw and mac and cheese! those ribs were nothing but bone! the 1/2 rack looked like a 1/2 rack of a mouse's ribs...the sides came im the smallest containers. We paid a high price for food that was not worth it!

I wanted to get the word out that my experience with Brickyard's catering staff was horrible! I called earlier this week to request a catering service. Unfortunately, they were booked the night we wanted to hold our event (Friday, Sept. 14th). I requested a quote for what it would cost to just pick up the food ourselves. They said they'd call me back. They never did - which was fine b/c we ended up deciding to go a different direction.

Well...I get a call today, on the morning of Friday the 7th (a week before our event), asking who is coming to pick up the food (mind you, no talk of price or a finalized number for the food...which is what I was supposed to have a return call about). When I say we've decided to go a different direction and that no one will be picking up food the catering contact says: "don't tell me that, we already have the food." Then I realize he was asking who would be picking up the food TODAY. I tell him that our event is not even until next week, that it always was. He then hangs up on me.

Poor, poor, poor customer service. Not only did he get my event details wrong and didn't return a call when he said he would, but he hung up on me when he realized his mistake. Needless to say I'm never going there again!! I would recommend the same to others.

Pros: Good Food

Cons: Horrible customer service

This place came highly recommended from a friend so naturally I decided to get the sampler platter. I also am the kind of BBQ fan that believes even bad BBQ can be pretty enjoyable (smoked hunks of meat accompanied by mayo-based salads, c'mon). I will say that this was not very good. The beef was tough and had no indication of any pink smoke stain. The sauce and a distinctly vile aftertaste. Additionally, the sides could have come from the supermarket down the road. (they must be kidding me with that potato salad) To be fair, the pork was pretty good and chicken was flavorful.

I think the food is very good and the guys who work there act like they own the place. Good service. I think the sides are a rip. Full rack of ribs plus 2 sides and a drink is gonna run like $18. I think that's high for a place that serves on disposable plates and where you place your order at the counter.

I suggest they make a plate with 2 sides for under $15.

We went for take out tonight- it was fast and delicious! My husband's decided to eat there once a week, and has promised to watch any movie I want as long as he has the BBQ. I had the pork burnt ends- which were fantastic. We got a rack of ribs with the thought of leftovers in mind, but they didn't last any longer than our movie.
No fat, excellent smoke flavor and perfect sauce- no secret ingredients trying to surprise you- just GOOD food.

You could easily pass this place if you blink on 38th ave. A small spot on a corner across from the laundry mat. It is a treat. The decor is Louisianna Red, same color as the delicious sauce. The staff is warm and friendly and laugh as you MMMMMMmmmm through your meal. I reccomend the BURNT ENDS. (The pieces that get all the flavor in the cooking process) All of it is good. It is great to eat in or take to your next outdoor party. You can buy their BBQ sauce to try at your next cookout. They also have their MEAT drenched in sauce for sale by the pound for about $5.50. It is finger licking good. Ahhh comfort food.

PROS: Delicious, Great after a night out on the town.
CONS: Always craving more

I was hoping I had finally found a decent BBQ joint in Denver, and right in my own neighborhood, but was pretty disappointed. I think $6 is a bit much for a pulled pork sandwich with no sides. And sides are $1.50 each, so it's $9 before you even get to the drink if you want beans and potato salad. Not a huge price by any means, but this is a BBQ sandwich for crying out loud. The sauce was good, but the pork had a lot of fat in it. The beans were very tasty.

I'm from out of town and if this is some of the best in Denver I feel sorry for the locals. The links are fair and have NO texture. The brisket was dry and had NO smoke ring. The pork was the best by far, but still not too good! I'll not be back! Average at best.

This little place has great food and service with a smile. You order at the counter and take a seat. Our food was brought out to us but Im sure on a busy night you would have to get up to get your food.

They have the classic BBQ menu. Their spicy sauce, which was more like mild, was finger licking good. There are rolls of paper towels on the table youll need them. The ribs are packed with meat and are cooked to perfection. The Baked Beans were wonderful, but the Cole Slaw was tasteless.

This is not a first date kind of place. This is an older building with only one small bathroom for everyone. I would recommend using the take out if you like beer and BBQ as beer was not available.

They have a great lunch deal: any sandwich, choice of side and drink for $6.95
