This was the worst spa experience I have ever had!!! I was given a spa package as gifts after I underwent a very traumatic loss in my life. My dear friend thought I could use a day to relax; unfortunately that was not an option at this

I don't understand why this place has gotten so many good reviews.
I also don't understand why I keep on coming back to Essentiels even after every bad experience I've had there.

The first time I ever went was a few years ago with my mom

I've been going to Essentials for years now and I've never been disappointed. I recently had an anti-aging facial and deep tissue massage. Each treatment was extremely professional and technicians use the most current skin care products.

Sad.... this used to be my favorite place. I always used to ask for gift certificates for Christmas and birthdays.\r

The quality of service has fallen severely over the last few years. It used to be a pleasure to go early, enjoy time

Essentiels Spa in Boulder is well worth the drive. The facials are the best and their massages will make you melt. Relax in the sauna or steam room while sipping cucumber or orange water before or after your treatments! Essentiels takes excellent care of its customers and makes you feel pampered and refreshed. The only problem is having to leave!

Wow, this place has gone down in service and value and atmosphere compared to a few years ago. Maybe it's since they were bought by a corporate entity, I don't know. But every time I go in, the experience is worse.

The people up front are rude, act like they don't care about customers at all. The technicians are competent, but overall it's not a relaxing service or environment.

I won't return to Essentiels Spa - there are plenty of other places in Boulder that are better.

If you want to feel pampered...this is the place! I received a gift certificate from my husband for Valentines Day and experinced 5 star service. We went in together for a couples massage and were greeted by friendly and professional staff at the front desk, who then took us back to their top notch locker rooms with a sauna and steam room. I loved the cottage/beach decor and felt relaxed in my robe and sandals.

We enjoyed our massage's and it was a nice change to receive them in the same room! My husband felt a little more comfortable in what he thought was a "women's place", because we went in together. I experienced one of the best massage's I have ever had. I will definately return and would recommend Essentiels to any spa goer who wants top notch service. This was one of the best gifts my husband has given me and I now understand what my girlfriends have been raving about!!

My husband got me the queen for a day package. Needless to say, I did not feel like a queen. The package included a massage, facial, lunch, manicure and makeup application. I skipped the makeup.

The front desk staff is immature, not welcoming, young and just generally give off the impression that they don't want to be working there. Not a huge deal breaker, but it's just not the vibe I want from a relaxing day at the spa.

The massage was pretty good. Very relaxing. The surprise was that the lights were left pretty bright, not dark at all. It made me feel a little self consious. Also, it was a man who did the massge. I didn't have a problem with it, but I was surprised they didn't ask me if that was ok. Many women would not want that.

The facial- It' was ok. Nothing great. I was pretty offended that she commented on my facial hair. It's like, yes I have some facial hair, thanks for pointing it out under that bright light! Way to make a woman feel good about herself! She also went as far to say that she thought I had PCOS! I'm sorry, but you're not a doctor, please don't give me medical advice. She may have had my best interest in mind, but spare me the medical diagnosis.

The Lunch- very good, but in a weird small room all by myself. I ate fast just to get out of there.

The manicure- VERY good. I'd go back just for the nails portion. My tech was named Patti. Very warm and welcoming and she did a great job!

I have been to this spa many times since 1997, probably over 100 at this point, and never had a bad experience. I have only gotten one pedicure here, however. It was good, I was just a martial artist at the time and pedicures just didn't last long enough to justify the price :) I have had many massages, facials, manicures and body scrubs/wraps. The staff were and are always friendly. I highly recommend this spa.

I haven't been to Essentiels Spa for some time, but my boyfriend gave me a gift certificate. It is still a beautiful sanctuary and the staff is always friendly and classy. I recieved a very good facial, good wax and the massage was too short ; ) -- A bit $$$ but overall a good experience!

I visited Essentiels last week and was very impressed. The front desk staff was warm and friendly, and the atmosphere was lovely. I had an extended massage and facial. My esthetician was highly professional and a master waxer. I LOVE the Yonka products - they will really change your skin. Massage was very good - deep tissue work just like I ask. All and all, Essentiels rates far above any other spa experience in Boulder.

After complaining about the customer service regarding the requirement of giving my credit card number and posting a negative review, I received a phone call from Essentiels just today explaining the policy and offering a modification as a longstanding and reliable customer. I was impressed with the person to whom I spoke and her sincere responsiveness. That call changed my very negative reaction to Essentiels new policy and I will continue to be a customer there.

I had the worst pedicure of my life, I actually went to one of those strip mall type nail places on my way home to have it fixed. I went there as a new mom needing some relaxation and came out more stressed and frustrated then when I arrived. The girl doing my pedicure had no idea what she was doing, I came out with polish all over my toes, my 4 month old daughter could of done a better job.

Horrible Place! Staff up front is rude.
Conveyer belt services, never start on time. There are so many beautiful places in Boulder and the
surrounding area to get massage and facials--I just don't understand the appeal of this place?
It's so over priced and not worth it!!!
Check out the smaller more intimate places...

My husband loves it, too, because it makes shopping for birthdays or Christmas gifts easy ~ all I ever ask for is a gift cert here! I have also been to Finishing Touch and Sensorielle in Boulder and Essentials is by far the best. (Sensorielle is in second place with Finishing Touch FAR behind. I haven't been to the St. Julien as the prices are sky high.) I haven't found a spa in Boulder that provides a locker room, sauna, steam room and lounge like the one here. I go early and relax on the lounge chairs then enjoy the steam room after. All my massages have be outstanding, and I am picky about my massages. I would agree that sometimes the costumer services leaves a bit to be desired, but I have found the same snotty attitude at the other spas (actually, even more so). I received another gift cert for Christmas this year, and can't wait to use it.

I was recently given a gift card by my boyfriend to this place. I am new to Colorado so haven't had a chance to check out many local establishments yet.

Essentials Spa in Boulder was by far my best spa experience to date. The staff is super friendly. The atmosphere is extremely cozy and relaxing. They start you with a nice cup of tea in the lobby while you lounge in your robe. I received both a facial and massage.

The facial was amazing. My skin felt better afterwards than it has in years. The massage was so relaxing I left feeling like I had no bones in my body and had an ear-to-ear grin for days.

i cant say enough good things -- give it a try! : )

I have been an avid spagoer for the past 15 years and Essentiels remains one of my favorite destinations!! They have excellent staff and a great service menu! Airbrush tanning, body treatments, facials, laser services, manis and pedis- they have it all!!! Their new manager Jeremy is so gracious and charming, and the rest of the staff always makes me feel so welcome. I LOVE this spa!!! Plus the location is so quaint- just like a seaside cottage. I take all my friends here for their birthdays- and they are always happy!! Treat yourself and GO HERE!!!

I have tried out several spas (most of them off of recommendation from this website!) in the denver-boulder area and Essentiels Spa is most definitely one of the worst in terms of customer service and hospitality. I have had six appointments here and not one has started on time... it is unacceptable to me that a 15-minute waxing appointment starts 20 minutes late! The personality of the staff in the front end is mostly generic and impersonable to say the least... most of the women that check you in and out are rude and need an in-service on how to treat customers with respect. I refuse to spend this much at a place that is supposed to make you feel like a queen and simply leaves you feeling like someone inferior. save your money and try out another place- any other place.

Cons: everything else

I went into Essentials to find out about services, ( I am a spa junkie) I was dressed in regular clothing, clean and clean cut. I noticed that there wasn't much traffic up front- but was over-whelmed by the amount of product and how impersonable the staff was up-front! When you go into a place the person up front should greet you like a patron and/or guest. It was such a turn off, another employee ignored me and didn't even give me eye contact.
I don't know what the talk is all about, this place clearly seems like a very cold place to spend time and when you walk in, its like, buy this, buy that.....I wouldn't spend a dime here, I'm sure that there are much
better places to spend your hard earned money on and that I did!!!

I am a spa junkie so I was initially thrilled when my husband gave me a substantial gift certificate to Essentiels Spa here in Boulder. At first glance, it looks lovely. Certainly the robes are luxurious. The women's lounge is nice, if small (there is a small waterfall), and there are products for use in the makeup/sink area. I was able to lie on a beach-like chair and relax and read before my services. Well, sort of relax. The first thing I noticed is that the place is LOUD. The lounge was very full and not only did it feel crowded, but I could hear many voices from beyond the lounge. I gave up relaxing and went to wait for my massage. For the first time, I noticed the employees were rude and snotty. I sat for fifteen minutes and then realized it was well beyond the time my massage was scheduled to begin. As I had a facial scheduled for afterward my massage, I asked an employee to check on my appointments, as I didn't want to miss my facial. I was told they were very busy and to be patient. That is not the kind of service I expect when my husband drops two hundred bucks. When I did finally get in for my massage, it was rough (note: I usually like an intense, therapeutic massage), but when I asked if she could lighten up a bit, she said this was her technique and that it would be good for me. She also spoke through the entire thing. The last thing I want during a massage is conversation. It bears noting that throughout the massage, I could hear everything going on everywhere else in the spa. The rooms walls do not reach the ceiling, and the entire place is open to sound bleeding. The facial was underwhelming as well, as the esthetician did not evaluate my skin before beginning and used products I didn't think were appropriate for my skin type. The shocker came, however, when she applied wax to one of my eyebrows. I was NOT there for a brow wax. I ended up with one, however, and it was not good.

Total waste of money and time!

Normally for waxing, I would go to Wax in the City (since it is their forte), but since they were booked, i decided to give Essentials a try. Ended up being not the smartest move. The wax technician, Nikki, came to get me, and I told her I was looking to get a Brazilian waxing and she made it seem like it was fairly routine. Come to find out it really wasn't. During the procedure, the wax hardened too much a few times and yet she still attempted to snag it off. I was sure that I had no female distinction left after it was over. And instead of offerrng me a cold compress, she merely said "Oh Sorry." And aside from the pain, the cleanup was awful, i ended up sneaking some wax remover out of the salon to take care of the job when i got home.

All-in-all, it was pretty disasterous. If you want a good waxing, Wax In the City is worth the wait for the appointment.

I first tested out Essentiels for my Wedding Make-up last spring, upon the recommendation of a co-worker. Since then I have had my eyebrows done there regularly and sent my mom for several manicures and a facial. Every time I have ever called or been there in person the staff have treated me with the utmost courtesy and friendliness. The young lady who does my eyebrows remembers what we talked about last time and the place has a very relaxing and warm atmosphere. Some of the check-in staff even remember my name, and I don't go there more than once a month! Highly recommended!!!

After going to the top rated spa in the Denver area and being disappointed, I wasn't expecting to be impressed with Essentiels Spa. But, I was wrong! The staff were wonderful from the receptionists all the way through all of the staff members performing treatments. We enjoyed the pre-steam before our day began and loved the strawberry water provided. Although not in an especially scenic location, the inside of the spa was warm, inviting, and comfortable. This is the spa I recommend to friends!

I have used this spa, as well as a few others, since 1995, when it was at another location. It is by far my favorite, and the only one I have actually returned to. I go as often as I can afford : ) There is no horrible smell from fake fingernail glue and the people are always very friendly. Very clean and quiet--sounds are very soothing. The only con is trying to get through on the phone to make an appointment. I have occasionally had to leave messages and don't get called back until the next day, at which point several more appointments have been filled and it gets tough with having to find an available babysitter (no children allowed).

A friend recommended I go in and ask for Dana. After some doing, I finally scheduled a date and went in. I received the most heavenly facial from Dana and the wait was well worth it! Dana is just heavenly. She was not mechanical like most others, made me feel very comfortable and knew when to talk and, mist importantly, when not to. She made me feel like a million bucks. My friend told me that if I didn't like it, she would pick up the tab and that if I did, I'd have to treat her.... Darn!

Darn!

Pros: Dana was amazing, atmosphere was good, tea was good

Cons: too busy

.

Highly recommend Queen for a Day, that is if you can get an appointment.

From the second I walk into this place I became instantly relaxed. The Atomosphere is incredible and the people are great! It is a little pricey, but when your that relaxed, it's the last thing your thinking about.

Essentiels is expensive. It's impossible to get a booking. It is a little snooty. But it is the best, hands down. Every treatment is state of the art, the facilities are beautiful, even the drinking water is something special. When you want the ultimate in flat-out indulgence, Essentiels is it. You get what you pay for.

I had the most relaxing day here. The staff was very professional and catered to my every need. The best part of the day was my facial but the massage and scrub were equally terrific. The water with frozen strawberries was really refreshing. Hopefully my husband will buy me another gift certificate there soon!

The Massage I received was great! It wasn't the best, but it was very good! The massage therapist was friendly and warm, the whole environment was wonderful, however, their front desk staff when checking out wasn't so pleasent to deal with, that sort of ruined the experience. The choice of products was great!

I have spent years visiting spas across the entire country and particularly in Colorado. I have not found a spa in Aspen, Vail, Denver or anywhere else that remotely compares to the amazing experience you will find at Essentiels. Their products are the finest in the world, services range from ordinary to exotic, and prices are extremely fair. The facility itself is amazing; gorgeous beds full of down with beautiful comforters from Provance, waterfalls everywhere, and robes so nice you'll want to buy one to wear everyday. Treat yourself to the FINEST spa experience in Colorado.

This is a wonderful place for a mid-day break or a full day retreat. I go there frequently for quick facials or a short massage during my lunch break. I would recommend it to anyone (and do).

In Short
The experience here transports customers to the veranda of a European villa. One side of the spa is dedicated to manicures and pedicures; the other side is all about hanging out on the porch in a comfy robe. Essentiels…
