Good NY pizza

by Laura R. | insider Insider | Rank: 20,202

Abo's is good NY style pizza. I went to the one in Greeley and if you want good pizza in Greeley, this is the only choice you've got. They serve by the slice. Place is clean, good service too.

$5.00 deal

by Lisa H. | insider Insider | Rank: 14,511

If you are looking for a quick, cheap lunch then Abos has your number. Abos has 2 large slices of cheese and soda for $5.00. Where else in Englewood can you find a lunch for $5.00? They have thin NY style pizza. I like that the Pizza slices are hot right out of the oven. The staff is also friendly. The atmosphere is busy and you are fighting for a clear and clean table. This deal is filling and great price. Not only do they have great Pizza but they do have great calzones too.

PROS: fast, friendly service
CONS: table was dirty/ had to wipe for the table

Great Canoli's, Decent Pizza, Abysmal Customer Service - Avoid Delivery

by PatnJen

We have been ordering Abo's delivery about once a week for over a year. The canolis are fantastic... really. The pizza is decent, but one could do better with a place like Lil' Ricci's or Angie's. 99% of the time we order via delivery, and the customer service is some of the worst we've experienced... leaving such a bad taste in our mouths that the rating dropped 3 stars (would have been a 4-star if only rating the food itself).

Customer service debacles:

1) They advertise "Fast Free Delivery" on their menus and boxes (as seen when ordered 5/9/08), when in fact during the order phone call I asked the person on the phone if there was a delivery charge and she replied "yeah, right now it's about $2.10." Be warned... this is false advertising.

2) Over the last many months, literally about 20% of the time when the order arrives something is missing... be it a salad, canolis, whatever. Usually we pay cash or check, and just don't pay for the item not received. (They no longer accept checks, though, so you're limited to credit card or cash now.)

3) Tonight, yet another delivery arrived... ordered 1 pizza and 2 canolis. Only 1 pizza showed up. The guy went back to Abo's to pick up the rest of the order, and in the meantime we received a call from an Abo's employee actually admonishing us for: a) not signing the credit card receipt (well, duh... we only got half our order!), and b) not giving them the coupon (well, again, DUH... we haven't paid yet). The canolis did finally arrive, the bill was paid, and the coupon rendered. Rest assured, we won't be needing any more coupons.

Maybe a review like this will encourage other customers of this Abo's to reply and agree, and maybe it will decently warn new customers to beware of sketchy employees/management.

Summary: Decent desserts, OK pizza if you eat in. The service is absolutey ABYSMAL (for the owner/management/employees of Abo's... this means bad.)

Pros: Canoli's!

Cons: Customer Service

Chain restaurant with the feel of a family place...

by loujberger

Too often, the suburban pizza experience is more reminiscent of limp cardboard slapped with canned toppings, in a pristine and clinical environment without a hint of personality.

Not so at Abo?s Centennial. From the moment you walk in the door, you are home. Gabe, the manager, grins and beams at you with a friendly and honest smile, his staff scurry around with the intensity of art students, creating masterpieces of Italian goodness. Want some home-made lasagna? It?s available after 4 PM. Don?t forget to order, in one of the many repeat visits you will undoubtedly make, the splendiferous meatball sandwich. Their meatballs are tender, flavorful, and quite literally the best I?ve ever had at a restaurant, chain or no.

The pizza is cooked to order, so be prepared to wait a bit. The crust is crispy, the ingredients fresh, and the staff seems to be just waiting for an opportunity to prove to you that, no matter how strange your request, they can do it and do it up right. When I visit with my 2 year old, he scampers around the place as if he owns it. The staff grin and make sure he doesn?t wander into the kitchen. Got a party of 40 needing some pizza? NO problem! Come on in!

Pull Gabe aside and ask him about the Denver Crush. He recently generously gave away dozens of ticket vouchers for hometown Denver Crush games to support Cub Scouts. Abo?s is the official pizza of the Denver Crush and you honestly couldn?t find a bigger fan. When you go in, look for the cute brunette named April behind the counter. Tell her Lou sent ya.

Pros: Great location, fantastic food, friendly atmosphere, great iced tea

Cons: loud environment when busy
