After many trips to Italy I have been unable to find great Italian food until Il Pastaio!! Not fancy, just a hole in the wall, but excellent, down-home food like you find in mom-n-pop restaurants in Italy! Fresh, fresh, fresh, all made

I tried to eat at this restaurant several times at lunch-time and have always walked out after seeing the nasty cafeteria-type food sitting under hot heat-lamps. Several dishes containing what I think was supposed to be lasagne but had so

Terrible ambiance. A few tightly clustered tables next to a to go counter. Surly service by an old guy I'm guessing is an owner. The food... small portions, but considering how unimpressive it was was probably a good thing. Been once,

This is the best Italian in Boulder by far! The prices are competitive and the food is excellent! They are not open on weekends and tend to get busy after 6:00 but the food is worth the wait.

This is a great Italian restaurant. Make sure you either have time and patience (you will have to wait for a table) or make reservations. It is worth it. For the price (very reasonable) you will be very satisfied. Try the ravioli or any of the pasta dishes. Everything is wonderful.

I can't say enough about Il Pastaio. Let me start by telling you that if you asked the manager of any other Italian place in the area "where do you get your pasta?" They'll answer "Il Pastaio." I told Giuseppe and Martha 6 years ago that their little intimate restaurant was gonna take off, and that's when there might be 2 other people there, now, every seat is taken all the time. In addition to the normal menu items, Giuseppe always has some special item, something he just creates from his mind, and it's always fantastic.

Enjoy

Pros: Small, intimate, personal service

Cons: I don't have any.

This is a very small italian restraunt so you should make resevations if you want to eat there. Their chicken parm is my favorite, but I would also suggest their raviolis. All the pasta served is made from scratch at the restraunt and I think they even sell pasta to cook yourself at home.

This place is so different than other restaurants I've been to. First of all, it's tiny. Just a few tables. Then the presentation - All the food is premade and put under a glass counter so you may choose what you'd like. For lunch you get one entree, one side and it comes with a small salad and a roll. The owners are the only employees and they speak very little English. Everything I've had there is delicious! Portions are very reasonable - not too little, not too much. Everything is on paper plates with plasticware. This is a really great place to go to get some new flavors and have a casual, relaxing lunch. The owners sometimes watch their customers and very obviously love it when you enjoy your food. That's the Italian way!
