I have curly hair and have always had a hard time finding someone to cut it where it didn't look all choppy. I heard about Shapes Salon and made an appointment with Megan. She was FANTASTIC! I got all over color with highlights and a Deva (sp?) curly hair cut. The color is beautiful, and the highlights are like a perfect platinum w/o any nasty yellow. I have been to probably 10 different Denver Salons (originally from California) and I finally found the best hairstylist ever. Thanks Megan!!!

I went to Shapes Salon because I found them in the westword. I have NEVER had a good hair cut anywhere. My hair is very curly and unmanagable. I was very nervous coming in to this experience, but Megan knew just what to say to make me feel comfortable and calm. She explained everything to me in detail about what she was doing and how. She had a very friendly attitude and we had great conversation. When I left the salon, I felt so amazing and my hair looked beautiful! She took her time and made sure that I knew how to recreate it at home. I would recommend Megan at Shapes Salon to everyone who wants the best curly hair experience of their life.

I recommend Jessica for the latest and greatest, be it a stylin' cut or color or both, Jess makes the best of what you have to work with - curly or straight - integrating your own personal flair with the newest techniques. Having just returned from her recent seminar in the N.Y.C., Jessica continues to add to her vast skillset which, combined with her uncanny ability for bringing out the beauty in everyone she meets, makes her one of Denver's premier stylists. Whether you want to rock the latest look or stick with a timeless classic, Jessica has the vision to make it happen. Personally, I am style-impaired and a total Tomboy, so I just tell her to do her thing, trusting that she'll send me out the door with a bit of that new-hair swagger. RIchelle gave me the best haircut of my life! I have never had so many positive comments about my hair - ever. It's difficult and different to cut really curly hair and Richelle is amazing. She really knows her craft. I highly recommend Shapes Salon and Richelle.

I get my hair done at Shapes (I'm a curly girl) and accidentally made an appointment with the wrong Julia. The other Julie seems great, but Julia McBride is the one who is the specialist with curly hair. This REALLY MATTERS because not all the girls there can cut curly hair. MAKE SURE you get Julia McBride if you want a curly hair cut.
I ended up waiting for an appointment with the right Julie, so it all worked out, but you have to be careful, because they don't do the same cuts!

I have been meaning to write this for a while; I guess the old saying goes, "no news is good news!" A few months ago, I had the UGLIEST haircut ever! In a panic, I called the salon, Shapes, Julia Dreiling, miraculously, was able to "undo" the damage. She was calm, kind, and quick! She even gave me a discount, and told me I could come back for a free maintenance cut. I definitely recommend her for anyone that wants a nice cut/color. She gives advice, without putting down your current style and her advice is A+. I am only going to go to her from now on! I think most of the girls at this Salon are really good, but I definitely recommend Julia D. Her cell is 303-564-7133.

I had my hair cut by Julia and was very impressed. I was very reluctant to try a new stylist because they all think they know what they are doing with my hair and then I end up with a bad haircut.
If I kew about Devachan cuts before I probably would not have ended up with so many bad ones.
I had to wait aout 20 minutes longer than my appointment time so that was a drag. But was offered something to drink while I waited.
The salon space was cramped and is a little inconspicuous from the street. I also did not like the Deva products they used on my hair, because it left it feeling very greasy.
But, when I explained to Julia what I wanted done with my hair and to just trim the ends she listened. SHe listened so well she gave me exactly what I wanted with my layers and fixed the problem areas.
She is very skilled at cutting wavy hair, she knew by looking at my hair what needed to be fixed, and just gave me a rockin haircut.
She cut it dry which I have had done before with bad luck. But what she did differently was cut it without disrupting the wave pattern. She didnt comb through it or spray it before cutting it. She looked at my natural wave patterns and cut it so all my hair pieces fall naturally in place-without it looking like I have a head full of layers (even though I do). She did not texturize or use a razor, something that can really be damaging to certain hair types.
I highly recommend this stylist. She is friendly enough and professional. She didnt talk my ear off either. She is just what I was looking for in a stylist and will definitely go back to her.

I have been seeing Julia McBride for my hair for the past 2 years. She is extremely talented and attentive to detail. She really takes her time even with the simplest hair cut! I have recomended her to many of my friends who have been happy with her work as well. I am always really happy with the cut and style that she does. I always tell her I wish she could style my hair every morning!

Julia McBride has been cutting and coloring my hair for about 9 months and I have been absolutely pleased! Julia McBride (note - there are 2 Julia's at Shapes) is a true professional and a perfectionist when it comes to her work and the results show it! In addition she is a sweet human being who cares about the people who sit in her chair. I was so happy with my hair that I sent my mom and both of my sisters - one of whom has crazy curly hair - Julia took extra time to talk with my sister about her unique hair and taught her new techniques to embrace her fabulous curls. My sister felt like a movie star when she left! You don't find talent and kindess like that hardly anywhere. Julia McBride is a gem and raises the bar at Shapes!

I have been going to Shapes getting my hair cut and highlighted by Richelle for about 10 years now. There was 1 time in that 10 years that I decided to go to someone else because it was more convenient (I live in Colorado Springs). NEVER AGAIN! I learned my lesson and now value even more the work that Richelle does. It is worth the drive to know that I don't have to worry about whether or not my highlights and cut will look great. Richelle is extremely knowledgable and does an outstanding job! I would recommend Shapes to anyone!

Richelle at Shapes saved my hair (it had been dyed orange by a friend), listened to what I wanted and what kind of a lifestyle I lead (professional but still fun), and I left loving my color and cut! After three bad colorings I was a little skiddish about coloring my hair, but I absolutely love my hair and I trust Richelle and her skill set. I am so glad that I found such an amazing stylist.

Julia is the best hair stylist ever -- I wouldn't go to anyone else! She has such a great eye for cut and color. I don't always know what I want when I go in, but I tell her generally "shorter" or "more layers" and she does it just right. I have always been thrilled with my hair cuts from her! Also, I have curly hair and not only does she cut it well, she also styles it (and teaches me to style it correctly), which makes me really excited about my curls, so I don't straighten it every day any more. I have never had a stylist actually deal with my curly hair before and make it look great. And in the past year, I have started getting color done too, and I love what she is doing. I can give her a sense of what I want, and she puts things together that are perfect. I am doing more than one color in my hair -- I have caramel, red, and dark browns right now -- and the colors always work together and are never overdone or too light. My hair has never looked so good or professionally done! (Plus, Julia does brow waxing too and she is great at that as well -- again I won't go to anyone else)

I recently had my hair cut at Shapes by a stylist named Julia, and she did a tremendous job! As I was fairly ambiguous in my description of the style I wanted, she was still able to help me communicate what I wanted and make it come to life. She was extremely helpful in that way and very friendly, too. The setting of Shapes is warm and inviting, located in the Highlands neighborhood overlooking downtown Denver's skyline. I will definitely be returning for my next haircut with Julia; I've already received several comments from co-workers who liked my haircut.

If you want the absolute best hair cut EVER ask for Julia. THIS GIRL HAS SKILL!!! She really took time to listen to what I wanted and ask a lot of questions to make sure she got it just perfect. Her perfection must be with her highlights because the color came out awesome. She is very friendly and made me feel really welcome in a new salon. Shapes offers a wonderful environment that is warm and inviting. They play up beat music that can't help but put you in a good mood. Trust me, you will not be sorry!

If you are looking for a great stylist or colorist, then look no more. Eliza Stallings at Shapes Salon has all the talent and personality to get you feeling and looking your best! I came to Eliza a year ago with a style and color disaster! Eliza was able to fix both problems and I walked away with fabulous color and a great style after the first visit. I have been a loyal customer since.

As for the Salon, relaxed and friendly and someone is always there to talk your call! Oh...did I mention parking? I can always find a place to park and, it's free!

I loves Shapes Salon! My new stylist, Julia, took my bland dirty blonde hair and gave me the perfect balance of highlights so not only does it look natural, it looks fabulous. I'm definately turning heads. . . The cut is also perfect for the shape of my face. And I got my eyebrows waxed for the first time and am now addicted. Julia taught me that eyebrows shape the face, and mine look great. If you go to Shapes, ask for Julia, she is true professional and really knows her stuff!

If you are unhappy with your hair you must see Eliza. My first visit she discovered my hair was actually curly. All that wasted money on horrible perms in my youth!

Seriously, Eliza is great, works with the hair you have and makes the most of it. She is always on time, spends extra time with me if I need it and works enough hours that I never have trouble getting in to see her. She always has a smile and makes the whole process fun and enjoyable. Eliza is a 10 in my book!!

I have been seeing Sarah for a few years now and have never been happier with my cut and color. The staff is always continuing in their education and it really shows. I'm impressed that Sarah does everything.....I'm not passed around from stylist to stylist. She works two days a week so I always pre book and never have issues getting in. I highly reccommend Sarah to anyone who is looking for a fun but solid, reliable stylist who knows what she's doing.

I needed a change that my normal stylist wouldn't give me and my friends hair always looks great, so I decided to go see her and she listened to what I wanted and had great professional suggestions as well. I feel compelled to write this review as I have been receiving EXCELLENT highlights and the BEST haircuts from Eliza for the past three years. I first started going to her on a recommendation from a colleague, and it was convenient for me to go to her in Louisville. She now works in Denver, and I am MORE than happy to make the trip to see her in the Highlands.
Right from the start, she got the color right to work with my skin tone and keep it looking natural. I was born a blonde but now need help... but from her awesome work you wouldn't even know it comes from a bottle.
My haircut is a blunt cut, which is hard to maintain because ANY uneven growout can be easily detected. The way she cuts it is unbelievable. I am frequently complimented on my haircut, not only for the first few days after my appointment but for weeks and even months later! Both women AND men comment on how great it looks! In fact, a client commented last week that I had the hair they had always dreamed of! And my best friend told me I looked 10 years younger! Not bragging here... this is definitely the work of a professional and FUN hairstylist that keeps me looking GREAT. I owe it all to Eliza!!!

I have visited many salons in the downtown/LODO/Highlands area and this is the spot to be. Upon arrival, I was introduced to the types of services and products used at the salon. I was not overwhelmed even though there is a ton to look at - the staff answered all of my questions and offered their opinion on the best product for my hair type, all before I was admitted to my appt. My stylist Richelle is amazing to say the least - I have come and gone for two years now, fully satisfied after each appointment. I have refered friends to Shapes as well and Richelle did my entire bridal party. Many of the people from my bridal party and now here loyal clients as well. You will not be disappointed!

Being a Colorado native, I've been through many local salons and hairstylists and, well, we all know it's tough to find just the right match. I was referred to Shapes by a good friend who knows how picky I am with my haircuts. On first entering Shapes, I noticed the vibrant natural lighting and that I was welcomed with a friendly, warm smile by the receptionist upstairs. They have a great collection of men's hair products and it appears women's as well.

My stylist is Eliza, and after my first cut I knew I had finally found someone that understood how to cut & style my hair. The best endorsements to the quality of her cuts are all the positive comments I get and as a result I have referred many friends to Eliza. I would definitely recommend her to men looking for a stylish and quality haircut.

I've been going to Nicole for years now for color and everytime I walk out with a smile knowing my color looks natural and amazing. I've been brunette as well as blonde and whatever the color is she makes in look natural as well as it has a beautiful shine to it. I have very thick, long, curly hair with quite a few layers in it. This type of style can be bit difficult to work with, and when I moved back to Denver, I was having a hard time finding someone capable of styling my hair. However, I found Eliza almost five years ago, and she is a wonderful stylist with great talent. She works wonders with my cut and color. She is always friendly and upbeat, and I anjoy going to get my hair done. I always come out of her salon with a style and color that I love. I highly recommend Eliza if you have curly hair.

I recently got the great lengths extensions and hi-lights done by Nicole and I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair. The people who know my little secret about extensions all love them and want them, themselves, and the people who don't know keep asking, "where I get my hair done and it looks so healthy, how do you do it"? The extensions look extremely natural, partly because it's human hair and not that synthetic stuff and also because Nicole know's how to place them well to blend with your own hair. She also did my color and I absolutely adore the fact that there are hi and low-lights that blend well. I highly recommend her and the salon. Great staff, comfotable atmosphere, and easy to get to.

I have never highlighted my hair and was nervous to add some color. I was referred to Misty by several friends and a few strangers I met at the mall, coffee shops, etc. I am so glad I finally got to see her (she's really booked) and I am extemely pleased with the results. My hair hasn't ever looked this healthy, shiny and my blonde highlights look totally natural. My cut is great too, I can actually style it myself. All of the staff was friendly and worked together well as a team. I will never look for another stylist!! Thank you Misty!!

Eliza is an absolute pro at cutting and coloring curly hair. I searched for years trying to find a stylist who could cut and color my curly hair and finally found Eliza about 2 1/2 years ago- she's the best! This salon is great and Melodee was awesome. I will go back -- she taught me a lot about caring for curly hair so that it doesn't look awful. My hair is now growing in after a bad hair cut before I went to her and is looking much better thanks to her advice. She also recommended the Curly Girl book and said that she went to a training session in NYC by the author of the book to learn more about the techniques. Highly recommended!!!!

The salon is very clean, cute yet saavy. I am a Fitness instructor in New York and have been to some of the best salons all over the world, including Europe. I didn't think of Colorado for a salon, but a friend of mine told me that she was going to get her hair cut there while we were in Denver for a wedding. She has wild curly hair, and has had several "bad cuts". Shapes salon boasts about specializing in curly hair, and they were right! They did a great job on my friends hair. I didn't get a service myself, because I faithfully visit a salon every 4-6 weeks depending on what city I am in for work (travel for on set movies). I did find that the seasoned stylist cutting her hair wasn't very friendly, but my friend felt that the haircut made up for it! We all have bad days right?

i recently moved to denver and i was quite nervous about changing salons... but after visiting shapes my hair is seriously better than it has ever been. the bumble and bumble products used are just amazing for any hair texture and the deva curl system has done wonders for my hair. i really enjoy getting my hair done by Melodee. she really makes me feel comfortable about what shes doing to my hair. she listens well to the ideas that i have for my hair. i really believe that if you want to visit a great salon, shapes is the one for you!!!

If you want the latest styles from New York or simply a quality, classic cut hair without the snobbery found in many salons, then Shapes is the place for you. Shapes is warm and welcoming with the same Bumble and Bumble products and expertise found in the most elite salons. My stylist Melodee is by far the best I have ever had! Rather than ignoring my requests or getting frustrated by my not having one specific style in mind, she truly listens and combines my ideas with what she knows about my personality, my straight hair and the latest in hair trends to create the perfect style. I have NEVER had so many people ask me who cuts my hair! Now I proudly carry a stack of Mels cards in my purse to share my hair secret.

Hi, I want to recommend Melodee for anyone who is nervous to try a new stylist. She is a great listener, and always finds a way to recommend styles after she listens to what I want, incorporating her ideas with mine. I have naturally curly hair, and Melodee just got back from New York for some training at a salon in SOHO, and learned new techniques for curly hair. It's the first time I've been to a salon and they didn't want to fry my hair straight, but instead "work" with the curl and help me learn how to style it myself with out frizz. I can't explain what a big deal that is, unless you have natural curl, then you know!! Also, my highlights turned out beautiful, natural looking, no "stripes", just beatiful color! I would recommend Melodee to anyone, but especially if you are nervous about trying a new stylist, she makes you feel comfortable right away and really listens!

For the first time in my life I had a positive experience getting my naturally curly hair done at a salon. Richelle is specially trained to work with very curyl hair and I left the salon feeling like my curls were valued and thought to be beautiful rather than straightened, blown dry or combed out. I waited over 40 years for this experience and I feel so lucky to have Shapes Salon right here in Denver. I recommend this salon to anyone with naturally curly hair. Thank you, Richelle! I first visited Shapes about 2 1/2 years ago, I was referred by a co-worker to her colorist Nicole, she's so friendly and professional and has saved my but plenty of times, and has always done a fabulous job. Since my work requires me to travel a lot she always finds a way to schedule me in even when she's booked up. I love this place, Nicole and the rest of the staff are the greatest!

I just had great lengths extensions done and I absoultely love them. No one has a clue that they are even extensions, they look so real because they are real. I have been going to Shapes for over 5 years. My whole family get services done here. Myself, husband, 3 daughters and my son and not one of us go to the same stylist. The manicurist is awsome, Richelle rocks with color, Courtney is great with everyone and comfort is number one.
