I called Th'ink tank tattoo FIVE times, asking to speak with a specific artist about getting a small ring tattoo. Not ONCE did I get a phone call back. Apparently, in order to have one of their mediocre artists give you a non-original tattoo, you have to know someone in the shop. Their customer service is ridiculously horrible. I finally called and made an appointment for a consultation, just to get in the door. And someone called the next day to remind me of my appointment, which was TWO weeks away. Thanks for the "helpful" reminder... If you want to get a tattoo, there are better shops with better artists who do a better job and who will return your call.

Pros: None, unless you like wasting your time

Cons: Can't get a tattoo, even if you're standards are low enough.

I've been to a lot of tattoo shops in the past 3 years before moving to Colorado. Think Tank is the best shop I've been tattooed at as far as quality in work, price, the atmosphere and all of the artist are extrememly friendly and personable. I have had 3 different artist Tattoo me and Ryan W. is by far the most creative and his artistic skills are out of this world. If you go there I recommend Ryan because half the time you wont even know your getting tattooed because he cares about who he has in his chair and conversation comes easy. I cant wait to go back again. If you want to be blown away with your tattoo see him!

Cons: Nothing!

Having a hard time understanding the few neg reviews. I am 3 sessions into a 5-6 session sleeve being done by sam, and my experience from top to bottom has been extremely positive thus far. Both of the front desk people that I've dealt with have been laid-back, friendly, and helpful; and Sam I the freakin' man. I love traditional American tattoos and Sam is simply great at this style. All one has to do is check his portfolio out in order to see that he has skills. I suspect that the woman who found his work to be "generic" either had a lame idea for a tattoo or doesn't appreciate the art of tattooing. Sam has listened to what I want and added his own ideas and improvements to create a piece that I couldn't be happier with. In my experience, Th'ink tank's great reputation is well-deserved. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else in Denver.

I've traveled extensively and been tattooed by quite a few different artists in many different places. I guess you could say I know a thing or two about what makes a decent tattooer.

From the moment I stepped into Th'Ink Tank, I was treated with the utmost respect and professionalism. I had a consultation with Patrick Schackley and he blew me away with his dedication to his craft and all-around persona. No giant ego or acting like he was doing me a favor just by talking to me. He asked a lot of questions and literally pulled my ideas out of my head and put them to paper with a quick sketch.

Then the hard part, I did end up waiting about 5 months to get in for my tattoo appointment. I know it's a long time to wait. But, to my relief, it was absolutely worth every minute of waiting. He expertly applied an amazingly detailed and colorful piece of artwork on me. He was surprisingly gentle. In fact, I think he has the lightest hand I've felt before. And was conscientious about engaging me in conversation to distract me from the rough spots. The tattoo healed perfectly and is by far and large my very favorite one! I will certainly look Patrick up when I'm ready to get my next piece.

The studio was clean and professional and the other artists were very friendly and engaging as well. I had a fantastic experience and am giving Th'Ink Tank and Patrick Schackley five stars only because I can't give them ten!

of all the tattoo shops i have visited and been tattooed in, Th'ink Tanks is on top for sure. Any artist in the studio can handle any tattoo you throw at them. I knew by walking in and not seeing a trace of Flash Art on the walls, just paintings and other art work, that this was a place for me. The complaints I've heard from others is either that they are too expensive and that the wait for certain artists is too long. If you are serious about tattoo work, money should not be an object, and if the wait deters you, maybe you should give your tattoo idea more time to make sure it's really what you want. I have had nothing but fantastic experiences here and would recommend Th'ink Tank to anyone who is looking for the best tattooers in Denver.

My friend and I got a tattoo from Ryan tonight. He drew up the design quickly and went to work. He was professional and very pleasant to chat with. Not bad to look at, either!

The other employees were pleasant and friendly. The place was very clean and comfortable. We didn't feel out of place or anythink. We were nicely welcomed. We aren't young gals...we are of the older variety.

I'd go back there for more tats, for sure!

I ended up getting tattooed by Sam. His version of a custom tattoo is pretty generic, pretty copycat. Now I have to get tattooed again to make my tattoo more unique. I will go to someone else.

I had the best tattoo to date. After a short consultation with Scottie Deville he seemingly pulled the picture out of my head and put it on my arm. This combined with a friendly counter staff and a clean, child free environment makes for a awesome tattoo experience. highly recommended

This is Denver's best tattoo shop with the best employees and anyone who would say otherwise is an idiot and you should not continue interacting with them. Everyone at Th'ink Tank is personable and professional, every time. It's not unlikely that by the second time you go there, the schedulers will know you by name.

I too get my work done by William Thidemann (who charges a very reasonable $150 per hour) and I can personally vouch for the quality of his work. He is respectful, hygienic, conscientious, talented, and above all, he loves his work. I have known him for close to ten years and he has done a variety of pieces on half a dozen of my close friends and relatives. After seeing all of his work first-hand, I knew that I had no other choice for my sleeve. When the time came, he was able to nail down precisely what I wanted without me even knowing what the hell that was. Now, I would put the ink on my arm up against anyone's work in the world. And it's not even completely finished yet. So, unless you want to walk around looking like a chump for the rest of your life, go see this group first.

I am in the process of getting a sleeve from William T and am thrilled with what he has done so far. Everyone I know that has gone to the shop has had nothing but positives to say and I love seeing the pieces that come out of there. This is the place to go in Denver if you want a piece that turns heads.

I'm the proud owner of a full sleeve from William Thidemann thidemann dot com <---- check his work here. William is absolutely an amazing artist and produces some of the best tattoo's on earth! In addition, he's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Good things are worth waiting for. His work is in high demand, so you may have to wait to get into his chair, but well worth it!

After a long time between tattoo's I found myself walking into Th ink Tank Tattoo after hearing good things about the place. I was greeted by the lovely front dest gal and told to look through the photo albums and pick an artist for a consultation. I picked my favorite and the following week I was dicissing my plans for my tattoo. After showing my other work to William Thidemann we soon realized that he had done my last piece in Boulder 10 years ago.Now excited I made my appointment. I must say I was impressed with William's work 10 years ago and the work he's doing today is amazing! He did a cover up on an old tattoo that was just too small and it turned out amazing I can't stop showing it off to everyone I know and don't know, so if you find yourself looking for a good artist or a good place to go you've got to check out Think Tank and William Thidemann a step above.

Think Tank is quite a special shop. With tattoo shops popping up in every section of the city, it is hard to know where the best experience will be. Wether it is your first or tenth tattoo, Think Tank artists and staff make you feel at home and collaborate with the patron on what would be the best tattoo for them. I can't wait to go back!

First, let me qualify my review. I've spent 15 years getting tattoos and searching for a good place with good artists. I've spent the last 4 years working directly with William Thidemann and I couldn't be happier.
I've seen several hack factories and I've had several gnarly tattoos. I can only wish I met William and the folks at Think Tank earlier.

It's a good feeling to know that you no longer have to search for a good stable shop with excellent artists. A few of my friends have gone here and they all loved the place and what William has done with them. One of those guys flies out from California just to get his work done here.

Rest assured, you're in good hands.

I have over 50 hours of work and I will always come to Th'ink Tank. Appointments are well handled, great parking, extremely clean equipment, attention to sanitation and absolutely killer artistic talent. William T. is the artist that does all of my work, and because of the time I've spent in the chair, I've witnessed incredible tattoos by all of the artists here.

I've been coming to Th'ink Tank since the shop was downtown.... It was good there but the location on Broadway is bigger and better and It's cool that they still use the walls as a gallery for other artists.

When people see my tattoos they ask... where did I get my work done? I never hesitate to recommend this shop and William specifically.

I have gone to Think Tank for several years now. Many of my friends have gone as well. They say "everyone get's the tattoo they deserve". However, it takes time to get the one you really want. You can't expect to get a work of art on your body without taking the time. I have worked with with William T.. From the beginning, he took the time, understood my vision and then came back with a masterpiece. I have been very pleased so far. Please remember, the process of a tattoo is long-term, it may take months to get an appointment to Think Tank and they are not the cheapest on the block, but you have the tattoo for life. Don't get fast food tattoos, take the time and pay for the talent. You will be pleased 20 years from now. You will have the tattoo you want.

Best tattoo shop I've been in! I've been getting work done by William for a couple years and he never ceases to amaze me. My mind is blown every time I come in. Well worth the wait...the more I learn about the tattoo industry, the more I realize how important it is to find a good artist even if they have a long wait. I recommend the shop to anyone!

As for the review below me, you can blowww me. Take your head out of your a$$. You obviously have some sort of personal vendetta that is controlling your life. As far as I can tell, you are the one who is worthless...not William. Get a f***king life!

This was my first tattoo and was a little apprehensive about the process but I had nothing to worry about once I got to the shop and it was a very nice and clean shop with friendly artists who made me feel comfortable about what I was doing. My tattoo came out very nice and the colors were very strong and vibrant, just how I wanted them to. You could tell the artists were very proffessional and took pride in what they were doing. Their website was helpful as well with lots of photos of tattoos and artwork each artist had produced. I was lucky and got an appointment on the day I called and got in that afternoon to get my tattoo. I would happily travel back to Denver to get another tattoo from here.

Th'ink Tank is the best Tattoo shop I have ever been to. Had a cover up done by Patrick, he is the most professional tattoo artist I have ever met. The entire shop was full of friendly, upbeat, and fun personalities. I cant wait to go back!! Had to wait 4 weeks to get in, but it was absolutely worth the wait.

I am fortunate to have 3 tattoos by Patrick at Th'ink Tank. These are custom creations drawn by Patrick based on my description of what I wanted and they are beautiful! I get compliments on them all the time with everyone asking where I got my tattoos. Patrick is incredibly talented, extremely professional, and makes the whole process easy. This is not your typical walk in, pick a design off the wall kind of operation. When you go, be prepared to describe what you want and the artists here will create something beautiful and one of a kind. It can take 3 weeks or more to get an appointment, but it is worth it! The quality of work and beautiful artwork is amazing. I can't wait to go back to get another tattoo from Patrick!

My boyfriend and I came to Think Tank to get his first, and my second, tattoo after several stellar reviews from other employees at our work, a lot of whom have gotten many designs done there. Patrick did both of our tattoos, and did an absolutely amazing job from consolation to finished design. He was more than accommodating in redrawing designs, moving the stencil around, etc. On the day we were both scheduled, we ran out of time, and he offered to come in on Monday (they are closed Mondays), to do mine. Awesome guy, awesome designs, awesome service. We will definitely be back, and sending friends this way!

A few months ago I started contemplating covering a tattoo I got during college during a lapse in judgment. My old tattoo had virtually no creativity or style. It was out of proportion to the location on my back and the lines were remedial at best. In short, I hated it. However, I was nervous about coupling one mistake with another 20 years later. I made the decision to get together with Patrick and discuss my needs.

Patrick has unbelievable talent and creativity. In addition, he is able to translate nebulous requirements into amazing results. I have been pleased enough to get two tattoos from Patrick and expect that I will visit him again in the not too distant future.

Beyond his skill level as an artist, Patrick displays great professionalism. He is not judgmental about the requests of his clients but tries to guide them and add the perspective he has from years of experience. Thank goodness for this because I am not particularly creative.

All of the people at ThinkTank were really cool. I enjoyed the experience greatly and would recommend to anyone serious that they visit one of the Tattoo Artists there.

Thanks Patrick.

I had my first tat done this past weekend at the Tank & I can't stop telling people about my experience! At the first consult, I met Mr. Patrick Shackley & gave him some design ideas I had. Upon meeting Patrick, I was immediately comfortable - he was extremely personable, listened to my ideas & open to answering any questions I had. The second consult was a day before my appointment where I came to see the designs Patrick created. Since everything at this shop is custom, you know you're getting something that is unique & personally meaningful to you. The sketch Patrick created for me was so intricate & detailed, incorporating all the ideas I'd mentioned to him. It was amazing... for someone who does usually curse, I left there telling my friends the design was f*cking awesome! The day of my appt. Patrick took his time in placing the trace paper just right on my lower back & made sure I was happy with the placement & size. He showed me the sterilized equipment, sealed & fresh out of the enclave as he set up & explained everything to me as he was doing it since this was my first tat. Patrick asked me throughout the process how I was doing & completely put me at ease. About three hours later, I was ink'd with a gorgeous butterfly & flower design on my lower back. Patrick took his time & really blended the colors so they look realistic & compliment each other, rather than looking "cheesy" like I'd heard some colored tats can be. I've since received endless compliments on the detail & beauty of my tat & I've been handing out Shackley's card like candy.

Long story short... if you're looking for a place to get ink'd, talk to Shackley at the Tank. His artistry, professionalism & way with people can't be beat. The cubes are open so if you're modest about other people seeing you, get over it. If you love your tat like I love mine, show 'em some love & tip your tat artist! Shackley is the bomb!

The talented Adam Rosenthal did my large lotus/cherry blossom tattoo and it turned out amazingly! He is an incredible artist and it shows in the detail and brilliant color of my tattoo. The shop is clean and professional, and as with all good shops, touch-ups are included so they are sure to get your tat perfect! I highly recommend Think Tank!

Truly gifted artisits work at Think Tank Tattoo. Great people, great business, and great experience. Mr. Patrick Shackley did an amazing belt peice that took about 20 hours (not all at once of course). The vision was right on and the efficiency that the work was done in was exceptional. As the customer it was always professional and I was made to feel comfortable. The banter amongst the artists is entertaining.....you must be lite-hearted though. This outfit is serious about their work so you should be too. Patrick made this a lot of fun for me and I am looking forward to my next visit. If I would have known it was this much fun I would have been in a lot sooner. Stop by....you won't be dissappointed.

ps this was my first tattoo.

This is not the place to go if you want an off the wall tattoo, these guys are artists. Patrick did a piece from shoulder to shoulder and it is beautiful. When people see it they ask who did the art, and I hand out his card like crack on colfax. If you want a serious piece, this is the place. Clean, friendly (as much as gruff tattoo artist can be), and fabulous art.

Look, these guys do art. The medium happens to be ink when they are not doing other stuff on paper or canvas.
