Pros: Example: best croissants in town

Cons: What are the drawbacks?

Owned by the same folks from Campo di Fiori, Gusto is a bit more novel, not as classic, slightly fused with other cuisines. Regardless of culinary description, it's wonderful.

Before commenting on the food at Gusto, I want to include a note on the fairly large number of children present. Never have I seen so many beautifully behaved youngsters. Not a single child was out of his/her chair, no undue noise emanated from where they were seated. They ate neatly & conversed with their parents. The two behind us, probably about 3 & 5, were so well-mannered that not only I, but the man at the table on their other side, complimented the parents on their offspring, noting that the training began at home we were certain.

One other note about Gusto: They have a fairly large number of 1/2 bottles of wine on their list. As I looked around I saw that a lot of patrons were partaking. Wine at this altitude goes to your head a lot faster than at sea level, so it's wise not to drink to the limit.

I ordered 1/2 a small roasted free-range chicken, prepared with large green olives & preserved lemon & served with roasted potatoes & the best sauteed spinach I've ever tasted. The sauce was a fairly light (as opposed to heavy, not color) brown sauce. My husband had one of those humungous pounded breaded veal chops topped with chopped tomatoes & greens, also served with the potatoes & spinach. I believe the term is "milanaise."

Our wine was an Amarone Valpolicella Brigalda that went beautifully with both our entrees.

Dessert consisted of a plate of small orange flavored biscotti covered with powdered sugar & garnished with raspberries and was just right with the cappuccino & espresso. This was a terrific dinner!
