After studying abroad in India and discovering that even there one has to be selective when choosing a yoga school and teacher, I feel blessed to have discovered Iyengar yoga.
Upon returning to the states I tried several forms of yoga in pretty studios with charismatic teachers and great marketing. After attending several classes over the course of several years the teachers' skill levels at each and every one of the schools were eventually revealed as lacking with respect to yoga and anatomy (not to mention a disciplined understanding of the philosophy). Eventually, it became clear to me that I was putting myself at risk for re-injury or new injury, if I continued attending these "shiny" schools.
After realizing that I needed to stick with an authentic form of yoga, I traveled the distance to IYCD, the Iyengar Yoga Center of Denver. While a couple of the younger teachers where relatively new to teaching yoga, I learned that they were in ongoing teacher training and counseled accordingly.
One thing for sure: I FELT TOTALLY SAFE and confident that I was receiving the finest teaching available no matter which teacher I received instruction--and my practice, sense of well being and measurable level of health improved accordingly (just ask my doctor)!
Once again, I feel blessed to have re-discovered Iyengar yoga.
Thank you IYCD for reintroducing me to me and the soul that has been aching to emerge!

I was new to yoga when I first started taking lessons at the Iyengar Yoga Studio of Denver, and I was impressed with the quality of the instruction. I'm not flexible, but the teachers are very good at helping you get into modified poses so that physical limitations don't have to stop you. There are many classes of each level, so I can always find a class at a convenient time. The prices are comparable to other yoga studios around denver, cheaper than some. Some instructors are better than others, but there are none I'd avoid, so even the less-talented teachers are still good instructors.

PROS: Beautiful studio inside, excellent instructors, typical prices
CONS: Not enough parking

I wish this yoga studio had more classes on the weekends because I don't always have time to go during the week. Most of the classes are 1 1/2 - 2 hours long. The instructors are a mixed bag, but there's enough classes that you can find one you like. You can buy a punch card of 5 classes for $60.00 ($12.00 per class.) They also have a four-week introduction to yoga class for $40.00.
