.

We chose this plan primarily for the price. It was the least expensive of all the plans we were offered through our employer. The cost to you depends on the plan that your employer chooses. For us, we pay a co-pay of $20 each time we are seen and the rest is covered. The care you receive depends on the clinic and doctor you see. This makes all the difference. I absolute love our pediatrician at Southwest.

Here's what I like:
It is nice that everything is included (shots, lab work, x-rays, etc.) in your co-pay.

The pharmacy carries the best price for EVERYTHING I've ever needed - even over-the -counter things like cough drops, thermometers, face cream, etc. They are truly a bargain, especially when you buy their "store" brand.

After searching and trying different docs, we have found providers for the whole family that we LOVE.

There are some things I don't like:
You have to call the call center to make appt.s and that is a huge pain. There is no condoned way to speak directly to your doctor, you have to leave a msg for someone at your clinic to call you back.

There are usually long lines to get Rxs.

For OB appts you pay EACH and every time you're seen rather than one co-pay for the first visit like other plans I've seen.

We have to been at St. Joe's downtown for hospital stays.

That said, I am satisfied, but not excited about Kaiser. I would recommend it if your needs are simple and cost is a big consideration.

PROS: Cost, pharmacy
CONS: typical HMO

I know they claim that they care for their members and care how they are taken care of. I am sorry but I do not feel like as a member they really did care for my well being. You could never get a hold of your docotor even thought they swear that they paged the doctor for you. Took forever to get results back. Huge lines for your medication and check ins. I am sorry this is a poor example of HMO health care.
