Oxford Club & Spa

by crystal r. | insider Insider | Rank: 20,002

This place is nice. The spa was relaxing. The massage was good. The staff was respectful and I didn't have to wait long. I would like to go back. This isn't the best spa I have went to but it is a nice place.

nice but they know it

by Crystal Z. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,054

When I worked close by I used to go here often for beauty treatments. The old building is really cool and it is beautiful inside. The services I received were always done very well but the staff is a little snooty. The prices are comparable to other high class spas but of course more expensive that regular salons.

PROS: great treatments, lovely building
CONS: snooty staff

BEST SALON IN DENVER

by happy lady

I recenty got extentions and my color done from a stylist named Malissa Garcia. They look like I went to LA or New York to get them done, she did such a good job. She new what color would look best on me without even asking what I wanted. I love my HAIR! I found a stylist for life.

Pros: I was like WOW!

I am a regular spa goer and am used to the type of atmosphere. When going to a spa I look for two things: relaxation and service quality. These standards were met until I checked out. I assume I was assisted by a manager because of her attire, and she bombarded me with sales tactics. I kept saying "no thank you" but the woman kept trying to push me into buying gift certificates, products, etc. I felt like I was talking to a used cars salesman. I left frustrated. I would want to go back for the services, but the pushness at the desk left a sour taste in my mouth.

Pros: Great Massage

Cons: Maybe they just want your money?

My favorite Spa in Denver

by CorrineP

I've been going to the Oxford Club now for about 5 years. I must say that their professional, friendly, & attentive staff make my spa experience a truly delightful one! I recently received my facial from Jenn, a massage from Christina & a styling from Abigail and absolutely loved every bit of it! These talented bunch of people are what keep me coming back month after month. Thanks Oxford Club for being my haven in the city.

Best Salon in Denver

by darcieallen

I have nothing but great things to say about the Oxford. I first went to Donna when my hair was a mess from an awful color and she did a complete correction! She was great and completely fixed it and my hair has looked great ever since. Its very reasonable in cost considering how high end of a salon it is. Everyone there is very friendly and professional and go out of their way to help! I've been going there for 6 years now and I can't say enough great things about Donna and the Oxford! Go check them out!

I love it!

by jjohns2

I've been going to the Oxford Club Spa since I moved back to Denver 5 years ago. I get my hair done by Samantha who refuses to let my hair make me look old (thank you Samantha!). When I can afford it I get all my manicures (love Becky), facials (love Catherine), and massages here. I have never been disappointed by the staff. I buy gift certificates for friends and they all love the services, too! I am also a member of the health club. It is an easy, casual place for people of all ages (and sizes) to workout in a comfortable atmosphere. I wouldn't go to the gym nearly as often if it weren't for the fact that I get to walk through that beautiful lobby and be greeted by people who remember my name and locker preference. Thanks everybody!

Pros: Friendly staff and beautiful facilities, particularly the sauna!

Cons: I don't even bother to try to workout on Fridays because of LoDo parking....

So So

by robynschaneman

My experience at the Oxford Club was an experience to remember. Right when I walked in I was greeted by the front desk with warm welcomes. They were so willing to guide me in the right direction throughout my service. I had the best massage with Alex who listened to all my needs about my aching body and succeeded all my expectations. I was waiting in the lounge for my friend and heard loud voices and laughter coming out of the office across from me. I tried to ignore the noise but people kept walking in and out of the office. This disturbance got me out of my peace of mind and I started noticing certain workers messing around. A blonde woman was "mooning" other co-workers and saying inappropriate jokes. My friend and I went to steam and she told me that during her massage, she could hear this noise as well. At check out time, we explained the disturbances and asked to speak to a manager but they couldn't locate one and gave us a small discount which was nice. So all in all, the services were great but the atmosphere wasn't.

Love the Oxford!

by MaryCPrender

I've been going to The Oxford Spa and Salon for close to four years now. I highly recommend it. I've never stayed with a stylist for this long and have no intention of going elsewhere. I love Donna Maes - she's an amazing stylist and colorist and is an interesting and funny person to boot. I get tons of positive comments about my hair color - she manages to make it both natural and fun and the color lasts for much longer than my color did when I went to other salons so I go a lot less often. I also get my brows waxed at The Oxford and, on occasion when I have the funds, I get a facial. Christy rocks -she's a very peaceful person and does a great job. My skin always looks better after I see her. They have great deals if you are a repeat client - it's well worth the trip to LoDo.

Pros: Thumbs up, Donna, Christy, front desk staff, great atmoshpere

Cons: Allow extra time to park in Lodo or take the train

Exceptional Stylist, ask for Donna

Good place for a trim

by MountainGoblin

The no parking thing is a bummer but...still worth it. It would, however, be nice if they validated with a nearby garage. Crazy parking + a haircut drives the price a little high.

Simply fantastic

by bigbradlove

I took my wife to the spa for our anniversary. I was very nervous as I have never been to a spa before and had no idea what to expect. We got the small spa package which was a massage manicure and a pedicure. I dont know why i waited to have any of these things done to my body. My massage was with Spirit she was amazing, I felt fully comfortable talking with her before hand and she put my body into bliss. My wife loved her massage as well (sorry I dont remember the name of the person who did her massage). We then went in for our manicure and pedicure with Becky and Brian they were great too. I got to sit next to my wife and hold her hand while they did out feet. They were very professional and fun, It did not hurt that we were served a couple glasses of wine. All in all it was a fantastic experince, I know that we will be returning soon.
Thanks to everyone that day

Pros: Freindly professional staff

Denver's hiddden treasure

by patsycline

I am a massage therapist and generally against large spas for bodywork . When 3 of my friends came into town and wanted a spa day I was reluctant but ended up pleasantly suprised ! My massage was one of the best I've ever had, not the usual weak, slathering of lotion most spa/hotel therapist deliver.I loved the complimentary hot towel foot wash at the end - no greasy feet! The 2 hour facial was amazing! It's much more than just your ordinary facial- foot bath, massage, lyphatic therapy in 2 hours of total relaxation.Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable but down to earth, not all about pushing products constantly. Also, we enjoyed the private room they have for small groups (a great place to chat and sip complimentary tea or wine) and the steam room. They also have a gym and yoga studio that we could have used ,but we got side tracked by the wine! The beautiful historic building added the final touch of decadence. This place is worthy, special occasion or not.

horrible service

by citygirl2122

I made my appointment an hour before I wanted it, so they were able to fit me in which was good. I went there for a brazillian wax, and the woman who did mine, swore the whole time. And told me that she wanted to get this done as fast as she could. She was all over the place, so the wax dripped all over my legs, which in the end, she made me clean up. She made me hold different parts of my legs, and at times she would say "Yeah, this one is going to hurt." Hearing this when someone is about to do something like waxing to you, is not professional. She made me uncomfortable, and afterwards, I had been burnt by the wax, and there was still a lot of hair in places there should not have been. I would not reccomend the waxing part of this place, though I would never go back for any of their other accomendations.

Pros: Could make an appointment on short notice

Cons: people were rude

not all it's cracked up to be

by chloepenguin

I don't understand the appeal. Year after year the Oxford Spa is ranked as one of the top spas in Denver. I have always only had rushed appointments, rude front desk clerks and how can they not provide parking? I vowed never to return after a miserable factory like massage 8 months ago but was given a gift card for a recent event. I really went in with an open mind hoping for a few hours of much needed relaxation. Alas, the bikini wax was rushed and sloppy. Then, I awkwardly witnessed my tech yell over the balcony, in front of other guests. to the reception attendant that I had upgraded the service, apparently by asking her to even the hair line. My massage was amazing, really. I was so pleased and thought, maybe I have been too critical in the past. Then, the woman checking me out said I owed additional money even though the cost of both services fell well within the gift card amount, tips included?! When I questioned her math and her reasoning, as she fumbled with a calculator in her hand, she raised her voice and questioned if I could afford what she claimed was the difference! I was so humiliated after some back and forth, I gave her the cash and left mumbling: this is why I never come here, they drain the relaxation right out of you. There are countless other Denver spas with more intimate settings and kinder staffs who are interested in assuring their clients enjoy a few hours of luxury.

Pros: the building is a historical wonder

The Oxford Club

by spaqueen1

This is the most amazing spa I have found in Denver! The historic charm and ambiance I just love it! I received the Dr. Hauschka Classic Treatment facial from Lizzy what a treat. It was two hours of pure bliss unlike any other facial I have ever had, and Lizzy is such an amazing therapist. I would recommend that everyone try this facial!

Like Butter...

by msvivid

I just had the most wonderful experience at the Oxford Club. I received a Moor Mud Bath with Michael that was just phenomenal. He really took time to understand what I was looking to get out of my massage- I explained how stressed out I had been and that I was there to simply relax- and relax I did!!! My body was exfoliated and then I got to soak in a beautiful clawfoot tub- I felt like I was something in an old western and when I was finished my skin felt like butter. Usually I am accustomed to a fluff and buff massage during a specialty treatment like this, but I was pleasantly suprised when he gave me one of the best massages I have ever had. Although I don't normally chose male therpaist- I felt very comfortable with Michael- he rocks!!!
