I vacationed in Denver with my family for the first time 3 weeks ago. This place was listed in a tourism guide book, so we went. WOW. This place is so old and yes the rides are very scary and not in a good thrill seeking way. I do see where others see it's charm IF it was tended to and kept updated for safety. Now, the employees were my biggest problem and reason I would not recommend Lakeside to anyone visiting Denver. First of all, it rained the entire time AFTER we already paid for wristbands. Yet, the rides were still being run, even water ones. When we thought the rain had died down, we took our kids to a water ride and was told by an employee, "If your kids get electrocuted, don't blame me." No, he was not kidding, but he proceeded to let them thru! (After what he said, of course we told them not to get on, but to wait) All he had to say was, even though the rain stopped, we still don't think it's safe for kids to get on, etc.... Period. When it was safe for kids to get on because the sun came out for a little while, we overheard him cussing loudly in a conversation to another employee next to him. (I thought this was a kids park?) Then, there was a rude security guard, tons of young kids running the rides who looked beyond bored out of their minds and just had this attitude like they would rather be at the mall or texting on their phone. The food areas were gross and the arcade had way more broken games than working ones. Even the working ones were malfunctioning and eating up our money! When I got home from vacation, I decided to send an email comment to management about my experience and after 4 days of no response, I called the park. Low and behold, I get a very rude and hostile operator who not only hung up on me, but flat out told me she didn't have time for me and that I had the attitude. She cut me off all in our conversation, I didn't get many words in to have an attitude. Again, I see where this park has BIG potential- old or not, but the people running it are obviously letting it go downhill.

I have been going to Lakeside for along time.My family and I both enjoy it. I am not the kind of person who can afford to take my five person family to Elitchs Water World. Lakeside might not be as nice as those but I am gratefull there is a place I can afford. Now I read something about it being in a bad part of town.I would like to know where that person lives I am sure in Highlands Ranch. Its not a bad side of town I have lived here a good portion of my life. Dont believe everything you read on this go check it out for youeself. Its worth looking at the history we do not have much history here anymore to experience ourselves

I have been going to Lakeside most of my life and the place itself is awesome. It is like stepping into the past.. full of history and great times that have been had there. There is so much personality and charm attached to the place, everyone should visit at least once to understand this. My complaint about it is the fact that the people in charge of it dont seem to realize this. It doesnt seem like anyone takes any kind of pride in keeping it cleaned up and safe. They are letting it die a slow death. Half of the rides dont work, most of the games are out of order and they have some of the rudest employees I have encountered in a long time. The ones that arent necessarily rude, dont care. It is obvious they are there to collect a pay check and have no regard for customer service. The park itself would be truly unbelievable if someone took the time to restore it, clean it up and keep it in shape. How sad it is that we live in a time where places like this go so unappreciated. Its not the park that deserves the bad rap it is getting, its the owners.

Very reasonably priced. Can have kids birthday parties, picknicks. They have lot of kids rides and a lovely miniature train. It is close to Denver downtown.

Lakeside has been around forever...and it shows.
The rides are more like what you would find at a Carnival than an amusement park. And some are quite scary.
The price is good, but other than that, I doubt I will go back.

The place can be fun but it needs to be cleaned up and it doesn't seem all that safe. It has had a long run, but it looks like it hasn't been taken care of at all. It probably isn't the best place to send your kids.

This is a very old amusement park and it shows it's age. It tends to draw a crowd that most parents do not want their small children around, so go when school is in session. They have really cute rides for toddlers and school ages and a wonderful train.

Okay this amusement park has been here in Lakewood FOREVER! The roller coaster is original and I don't think they have made any repairs on it sincethey have been open. I went here this summer and thought that every ride I went on was going to break! The food/snack bar was deserted like the rest of the park. My nachos were from like last year and they have like 2 employess running around running all of the rides. Go to Six Flags and be safe! Also this is a bad side of town.

This is an older park and doesnt have the new and outrageous roller coasters. Now that thats said, here is what it does have. A ferris wheel, Auto Skooters, Bumper Boats, two steam trains from the 1904 worlds fair, Cyclone Coaster, Merry-Go-Round and much much more. There are 16 major rides and then there is an extensive kiddie area, great old buildings, lots of mature trees for constant shade and you are allowed to bring in your own picnics. This is all for at least half of what Elitches charges for an unlimited rides pass. Even less during the week and for nonriders the entrance fee is 2.00. Now this is a place I can afford!

This amusement park is a pretty good deal for the price...but there is no way I would go on the weekend. Of course, I probably wouldn't go to ANY amusement park on a Saturday or Sunday, but since this one is less expensive than Elitch's, it tends to attract more teenagers on those days, who seem to act overly silly...like teenagers :) That's their right, I guess, but I'd rather avoid it during those times so my small children can enjoy the park.

This place is so-so. I wish that they would clean up the park a bit, but they don't. Thier rides are out dated, but the pirices are reasonable! 3-stars

This place has great rides and is a real "amusement park" - not some "theme" park that's primary purpose is to extract green-backs from your pocket. What is sad about this park is that when I read other reviews talking about it being "dirty" or old- what you really see is that its not just plastic and steel themes. Underlying this is that a multi-ethnic mix or people go to this park. Here, my 5 year old blonde/blue son rides with all ethnicities and all economic backgrounds. When we go to Elitches its suburban white families, standing in line for endless hours.

So back to the place- whether its the great steel ferris wheel (which my son says "we can see the whole world" - not quite ;-) ) or the authentic steam locomotive, 2 fantastic coaster (yes- the Wild Chipmunk is worth its name!) or variations on traditional carnival rides, the underlying theme is fun at the park.

Catch this park before it becomes history- undoubtedly it will.

Yes, Lakeside is old, but that is what makes it Lakeside, the entire park is living history today. The rides are older, not the highest, nor fastest, but you can go to this park with the entire family and not take out a second mortgage on the house. And if you have any interest in american amusement park history---WOW, you can spend an entire day just looking at it all.

If you want to ride the rides that made grandma scream this is the place. Since most of the the original rides are still here the main reason you will scream is out of fear it will fall down while you are on it. It is too bad because it could be a fun place if someone spent a little money on it. The prices are cheap but that does not mean it's a value.

Pros: Location, Big Shady Trees, Nostalgia

Cons: Worn out rides, Smelly Lake

Lakeside is one of the best amusement parks I have ever been too! It may not be Disneyland, but it has everything you could want from a classic park. Lakeside has all the classic rides and a WONDERFUL wooden rollercoaster. Other attractions are good for younger kids too. Add in the venue (the don't call it Lakeside for nothing!), the shady walkways and the low admission price and you can't beat this park!
