Staff was slow, unknowledgeable, and down right rude. Management absolutely did not care! The entre was served as overcooked as it was overpriced!! I am unable to recall the last time I had seafood so difficult to even chew and swallow!! The overall experience was so unpleasant, I simply could not recommend this restaurant, and absolutely will never return. BE ADVISED, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

After seeing a picture of the restaurant in a local review book, my wife and I decided to give Augustine Grill a try. The experience from beginning to end couldn't have been more of a disappointment. The wine list is a bizarre combination of extremely overpriced bottles considering the quality of what is offered. My wife got the signature Augustine Medallions entre which features a couple of what looked like cast off carne asida chunks (advertised as medium-rare filet) that were overcooked to the point where they resembled leather. When we pointed this out to the waitress we were informed that that is how chewy it is supposed to be. My order of pasta rags did not taste anything like the ??fresh made? pasta the menu advertised but were extremely bland and overcooked. The service was poor and inattentive, our two course meal taking 2 hours to get through with no apology or recognition of the extremely slow food preparation. Will not ever go back.

I like the Augustine Grill but why do so many chef's use so much salt? If I feel my food isn't salty enough I put salt on it. Isn't that why it's on the table?

This was the greatest find for our wedding reception! From the initial meeting, to the actual event and final check, we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful evening. Anyone looking for a cozy and warm European atmosphere with delicious food should definitely make a trip to this restaurant! And if the weather allows, dine on the patio. You can see the work and time that has been put into this place by the owners. Fantastic!

My husband and I love to try new restaurants, but we keep coming back to Augustine Grill. We have our favorites there, but once in a while we venture out and try something else, we are never disappointed. The owner always takes the time to visit with her customers (unless they want their alone time). Augustine Grill has a "cumfy" feel to it, located in a historic home that has been converted into a restaurant. Tha gardens are beautiful, we love to dine out on the back patio, especially on beautiful Friday or Saturday nights when they have live music. Definately not a place for little kids, we've seen kids allowed to run wild through their beautiful gardens as well as pick their flowers. We've also seen well behaved kids treated very nicely by the staff. We have raised our kids, so we choose nicer restaurants hoping we don't have to deal with someone elses. We have seen the owners work very hard at making some wonderful changes over the years, and as I said, we keep coming back, it's worth it!

Pros: Ambience, cozy, gourmet menu,

Cons: Parking (during the day only) night time parking is fine

We came to Augustine Grill for a special night. We called ahead and worked with the owner who helped make our dinner so special, she made sure every detail was there, she even made special menus just for our special occasion helping us keep within our budget while still giving our guests wonderful choices. The portions were perfect, the flavors of the foods top notch! I would definitely suggest making reservations, I find it funny that people expect they should be able to just show up and be served. This is a wonderful place to dine, plan ahead it's worth it.

We have been to Augustine Grill many times, dinner for the two of us, or for a special event. The place may be old, but it is historic, part of the charm. It is beautifully decorated, and in the winter has such a cozy feel with the fireplace. We love the back patio in the summer, and find the inside romantic. We always have a hard time deciding what to order because we enjoy so many things on their menu! We try not to dine on a Friday or Saturday night as they are usually very busy, we prefer a quieter night. However, Friday and Saturday nights on the back patio are great with the live music! The prices are well within the range of other restaurants, but I would not recommend bringing children, unless they can sit well behaved in this NON-Fast food restaurant. It's nice to be able to enjoy a meal at a relaxed pace. It is or favorite!

We dine at Augustine Grill regularly and have for many years, it is always my first choice when asked what my favorite restaurant is. My customers that travel the world agree that Augustine is one of the finest establishments in the area. The food is fabulous, the ambiance is comfortably elegant and the staff always deliver good service with a smile. Treat yourself to a great meal in a relaxing atmosphere, you won't regret it!

We went to this small hole in the wall restaurant that cleary thinks more highly of themselves then the patrons. We were treated poorly and rude by the waitstaff. For those of you whom have ever had a pleasant dining experience don't let these reviews of it being good fool you. The smell in the bathroom is horrible as is the food.
Try Sienna much better. Finally some class in Castle Rock!

We dined at this establishment and found the staff to be as distasteful as the food.
It is a small hole in the wall which claims to be charming. The wait was too long. Food not so good and over-priced.
Not to mention the smell in the bathroom which happens to be crammed right next to the kitchen.
Maybe invest in proper plumbing. Nice but not so nice try on the charm!

Wonderful, quaint restaurant with a European feel. The food is always so tasty and the quality is excellent. Not a place for ill-mannered children though, the seating is intimate. We witnessed children tromping through the beautiful gardens next to our table and picking flowers. We love this place. Have the Ahi Tuna or Lamb!

Pros: Cozy and a great patio

Cons: not for small children

We live in the immediate area and go there on a fairly regular basis and except for one time when it was very crowded the service was slow, the food is always incredibly good and the desserts are the same. Also, I agree with another reveiwer ,don't bring young children (especially ill mannered ones ) to a restaurant of this caliber,it's just not done.

I had a very unfortunate experience at Augustine's Grill in Castle Rock. I was there with my 2 small children and with a friend with her daughter. We asked to sit outside and were treated very poorly by the waiter. I actually overheard him talking about my children when he went into the kitchen. He and the owner were talking about how they should have a sign on the door stating "no kids allowed". When I approached them and asked the owner if he had a problem with my (well behaved) children, he looked at me coldly and said "not yet". We we so shocked and offended that we immediately left and will never return.

I can?t agree with you ladies more. We too had a terrible experience with our family at Augustine?s Grill. The waiter was totally rude. Outside in there patio area it smelled like garbage. The hostess area is a tiny little 2x2 space and it takes 20-30 minutes to get seated. The food is way over priced and not very good. I think the owner thinks way too highly of his place as we complained and he said ? We are very busy we must be doing something right?. Does he not realize how limited the choices are in Castle Rock? When we actually get some decent restaurants trust me the place will be dead. Don?t go there it is a waste of money! The owner and wait staff are sub-par.

My husband and I were returning form a funeral in Cheyenne, WY and he decided to treat me to dinner at the Augustine Grill. This was my first time there and I loved it. I had the rac* of lamb(for some reason this site finds the correct spelling of this word offensive) and he had the special which was crab stuffed salmon. It was so good I even ate my vegetables which I hardly ever do!
This is ADULT dinning. Personally I think no child should enter a restaurant with table clothes on the tables unless those children are old enough to attend and have attended cotillion. (referring to one of the poor reviews below). People don't generally go to nice restaurants and spend their money on great food to be disturbed by children.

I went there for lunch with my two children, a friend and her daughter. Our table was outside, and it smelled like garbage. Our waiter was rude to us right away, and was clearly not happy to be waiting on 3 little (well behaved) children. Then I overheard him talking to the owner about how they should hang a sign on the door stating "no kids allowed". I approached the owner and asked if he had a problem with my children, he coldly said "not yet". We were so offended that we left before we got our food. (the kids had shared a $7 bowl of macaroni and cheese). We spoke w/ the owner when we left, he never apologized and he said that his kids would never throw mac and cheese on the ground. And something to the effect of how dare we bring our children there when it was a busy lunchtime.

We ate at the Augustine Grill last September- it was my first time going. While their menu is somewhat limited (it can be found online) it had enough variety, offering a few pasta dishes, steak, chicken, seafood, and salad options. We ate outside in the "back yard" area as the sun was setting. The service was impeccible and there was no rush- it really feels like a place you could sit at for hours, dining and chatting. The food was excellent, the dessert was to die for. We'll definitely be going back again soon!

Cons: I can't think of any!

This was a very pleasant experience visiting the Augustine Grill. We went there for a friends birthday party and we sat on the patio. The atmousphere was great. They had a band playing in the background and the lighting was perfect. The wait staff was very friendly. The food is prices comparably and is pretty good too. If I was invited, I would go again and possibly for a special occasion as well.

we have dined at the augustine grill before, but had'nt been in the new addition. it is absolutely beautiful...very cozy w/a fireplace, lots of windows and much more roomy than the original rooms. i had the sesame tuna and my husband had the rack of lamb. it couldn't have been more delicious. we had a new waiter, but the service was great and it was obvious he was trying hard. he suggested the creme brulee and i have to say, being a dessert fanatic it was the best i think i have ever had. my wife and i will be back & look forward to taking our guests there. i hear the holidays it's beautiful. a great treat as always.
