The bakery was kind enough to let us attend a tasting so a family member could taste their various cakes for an upcoming graduation. All the samples we tried that day were very good. I personally have ordered many birthday cakes from Das Meyer in the past and they were wonderful. The family member needing the graduation cake went to Das Meyer on my reccomendation. My cousin submitted a drawing of her design idea and was told some of the features would be airbrushed. The cake was not airbrushed and had a tremendous amount of frosting which tasted horrible; the entire cake looked unappetizing due to the bakery's decision to not airbrush parts of the design. The cake made for the graduation was very dry and tasted nothing like the sample at the tasting. None of the guests at the graduation party would eat the cake after one bite and threw their serving away so my cousin basically wasted $130 on the cake. When she called Das Meyer to let them know about her dissatisifaction, their basic attitude was "too bad" and they offered absolutely nothing for their poor product. The low quality of their product and horrible customer service was such a shock and disappointment to me and my family. We will never us them again or recommend them to anyone in the future.

When I announced my engagement to my mother, she told me that I had to go to Das Meyer and at least do a tasting for the cakes. I first went to a number of other locations and left it as my final destination. I didn't walk in expecting much, since most cakes we had tried were either too sweet or bland. I was floored by not only how tasty the cakes were, but how many options there were, too.

I then went online to look at Das Meyer's reviews, and was a little concerned at first over a few negative reviews that I saw, but my mother assured me that they were the bakery to go with. I'm so glad that I did!

Not only have we received the best-tasting cakes out there for the wedding (there was hardly anything left at the end of it!), but we experienced absolutely wonderful customer service!

As for the negative comments, most seem to come from people who forget that Das Meyer is a family-owned, mom-and-pop environment. They simply can't afford to jump through hoop after hoop just because someone bought something that they didn't like or they didn't properly articulate their needs. Consider of the amount of money it must cost them to have the tastings every single Saturday alone! They are, by far, the kindest and most thoughtful folks and they will work with you to make sure that your wedding cake(s) are unforgettable!

Kudos to Rachel (our wonderful sales associate), Dennis (our fabulous baker), and Zach (our cake decorator--awesome job)! I highly recommend them, and we will be using them for every significant event in the future!

We used Das Meyer for our wedding cake last year and were very happy with everything. The cake tasting was easy and we were able to bring a couple family members to try the cakes too. The cake turned out just the way we pictured it and tasted great. We love that we didn't have to eat a freezer-burned cake topper for our first anniversary because Das Meyer provides a free one. Our customer service experiences have always been wonderful. We would go back again for any occasions in the future!

Das Meyer was recommended to me by a friend who bought her wedding cake through them a handful of years ago. By the time my fiance and I had arrived on location (after hours and hours of prior cake googling and reading a couple bad reviews on this site) we had some trepidation as to what the quality, and expense would be like.
The cake tasting building is albeit a little small, but not extremely so. We were met with nothing but very warm and friendly associates who were nothing but helpful, accommodating, and conversational. They kindly asked what our wedding date was and guided us to a wonderfully kind and fun older gentleman who chatted with us about the cakes, our wedding, and the history of truffles. We were offered as much samples as we could eat. We were able to sit down with our samples at romantic intimate tables and flip through books and books of beautiful examples.
the specialty cakes we interesting and unique flavors that were perfectly moist and not too sweet. The prices are comparable to KingSoopers and better. they also provide a free one year anniversary cake!
They are more than willing to work with us to create teh perfect custom cake for us with no additional charge. We are greatly looking forward to our Das Meyer wedding cake June 2010!

Pros: Delicious, beautiful, affordable cakes!

Cons: Perhaps some limited seating

WOW!!!! Das Meyer was packed for the tasting, but as we discovered, it's because they are really the BEST!! We tried cakes at other bakeries, but none of them even came close to the taste AND the customer service at Das Meyer. The people at this family business are truly friendly, accomodating, and so creative.
We took in a picture of what we thought we wanted, but when we saw the amazing creations that they make, we decided right then and there to change it.
Not only did they deliver exactly what we ordered for our wedding, but everyone commented on how moist and flavorful it was. I will return for all our family cakes in the future.

Pros: Most Beautiful Cakes

A few weeks ago my daughter and I stopped in to inquire about a baby shower cake. It is obvious they are only interested in the $$$ they get from wedding cakes, because they only have photos of them and no other cakes.
They offer cake tasting only if you are getting a wedding cake, etc.
They do serve stuffed pockets on the weekends and I ordered one with spinach and feta cheese. After one bite I was unable to eat it. Tasted like it had too much baking soda in it- very salty. I quietly stood at the counter until a woman came to assist me. I explained that the item was unedible and that I would like to try a different item. I was told they do not take returns. I tried to tell her I thought there was something off about the taste and that I wanted to have her change it for something else because I was unable to eat it. Again I was told, "we cannot take it back, it is against health code". No "I'm sorry", "let me get you something else" basically "too bad for you". They were not interested in making me happy, I only spent $6 on two small items...I informed the woman that I would go to Rheinlander Bakery in Old Town Arvada for my cakes and that they had lost a customer and many others because of their lack of customer service. I also gave them back the bag with the nasty stuffed pocket in it and told them to throw it in their own trash, as I didn't want it in mine. The owner was standing there when I did it and no one even tried to make me happy, so over a $3 item they are willing to risk their business opportunities with my family and our friends. No problem, Rheinlander is much better quality and prices, and they have better customer service. I was just so shocked that they were disinterested in keeping a customer happy and saving their reputation.

I went here over a year ago when I was at the height of wedding cake tasting. They only offer tastings on Sat from 10 am to 2 pm (I think) - no way to schedule anything - so the result is a huge line on Saturdays and very limited seating - and it would be okay if everyone waited in line together, got their cake and then sat down, but what happens is the bride to be's end up waiting in line with a girlfriend or mother while the father or groom to be sit at a table and hold onto it, and people were very territorial about their table and even the books of photos- while my bridesmaid and my mom and I were waiting, we glanced at an open book on an empty table to have a father come by and get mad saying it was his book and table - then we finally get to the cake counter and there are limited flavors - pick what they have - and all the cakes had the same buttercream frosting - and then there were no tables and we had to eat our cake standing up! I asked someone about a flavor I saw on the website but it was not there that day and asked how I could try it - they said I would have to call every Sat AM to see if they made it, and if they did then I could come in. I said what if I pay for a sample? The answer was no. I said well what if I want to pay for cake of it, I at least want to try it, and they refused to find an easy way for me to get a sample. In this business, customer service is everything! The cake was okay, but I find it was over rated. We heard from lots of people it was the best cake ever - and I certainly don't agree with that. Also, we got a cream cheese blueberry pasty thing there for our family, and it was terrible! the smallest layer of pastry with a huge chuck of gross cream cheese in the middle. The pastry fell apart when you cut it and the cream chese stuff was not goof. I ended up going with Elegant Bakery - they make tasting appointments and samples just for you with the flavor cake, filling, and frosting you request, and they care about what you want and they do what you ask! Which is what should be expected from a wedding cake baker!

In a world filled with Costcos and Sam's Club's and dying small businesses, it is resfreshing to enjoy the Das Meyer experience. We went to the cake tasting yesterday-- enjoyed impeccable service and look forward to an absolute divine wedding cake. The raspberry lemon filling awakens the tastebuds. The cakes are not too sweet -- just right and the pricing is reasonable, aligned well with quality and service.

Pros: Best Cakes in Denver. Period.

Cons: North Side of Town

Our family has been using this bakery for years. I personally have never had bad customer service and the cakes are divine!! Birthdays, Anniversaries, Easter, Mother's Day. I am now ordering for Mother's Day. Not sure what happened with some of these others. If it is true - that is very sad because our experiences here have been wonderful!!!

We hunted around the city for our wedding cake for our June 2008 wedding. My in-laws had a different preference for cakes, but the delivery charges of many of the other bakeries around were ridiculous (more than the cake at one place). I did some searching and happened upon Das Meyers. My maid-of-honor and I did a tasting about 8 months before the wedding, and set up the order. I knew sort of what I wanted the cake to look like, and so just told them a general idea. OH MY GOD! It turned out to be the most beautiful cake I have ever seen. I could not have imagined it any more beautiful.

We returned to Das Meyers about 2 months before the wedding with some ribbon, and another tasting. My fiance and his parents loved the flavors.

They delivered early on the wedding day, so when I arrived at the venue it was already waiting. What a dream. We went with the Bailey's Irish Creme, Orange Dream, and Strawberry's and Champagne. My only complaint was that my husband and I only got our few ceremonial bites, because the cake was gone by the time we stopped dancing! Everyone raved about it, and I have never heard of another wedding that didn't end up with any leftover cake!

We look forward to our 1 year anniversary cake, and will use Das Meyers again in the future.

Very reasonable prices, amazing flavors. Go early for tasting, because it gets a little crowded, but a great place to work with. Plan on not having any cake left-over!

I got married in september, and I wanted something completely different for our wedding cake. I searched all over Denver to find a decent priced, what I wanted cake. I had read mixed reviews on Das Meyer, but they were the cheapest I found, who were also willing to make my cake how I wanted it. Not how they thought they could do it. I gave them a picture and they made it perfect!!! I was so pleased with how my cake turned out!! They delivered it on time to the venue and it was the right flavor as well. The staff was so friendly, and the cake was delicious! Everything I wanted for our wedding cake and more!

I'd heard such good things about Das Meyer, so on the advice of my uncle (whom is friends with Dennis, the owner), I took my mom along for a free cake tasting for my upcoming wedding in August 2007. After my first bite of strawberryies & champagne with buttercream icing, I knew I wanted Das Meyer to bake my wedding and groom's cakes. Rachel was wonderful to work with and I never had any issues with rudeness on the staff's part. I chose a 3-layer cake (2 layers of strawberries & champagne and 1 layer of tres leches) and it was decorated to my simple specifications. They delivered it on time and my florist topped it with fresh flowers as requested - it was beautiful!! (and tasted even better!) In fact, we had the staff at our wedding location hurry to box it up so we would have some leftovers! Our guests really enjoyed it and so did my husband and I. His groom's cake was also decorated to our specifications and tasted out of this world (chocolate truffle). I expected our order to be much more than the total price we were charged, so I was pleasantly surprised that the cost was so reasonable. I also had no problems ordering or getting our free first anniversary cake in August 2008 - it was delicious! I would highly recommend Das Meyer to anyone looking for an amazing bakery for a wedding/groom's cake. I'm sorry for some of the other reviewers who didn't have the same good experience I had, but we're all entitled to their opinions, and I'm just glad my experience was outstanding.

Pros: Excellent service, tasty cakes

Cons: very busy free cake tastings on Sat. mornings, had to wait for a table

.

Das Meyer definitely makes good cakes, but that's only part of the overall package. The other -- more critical -- part is how well they treat their customers and they are sufficiently lacking in this area. Our wedding was a year ago and we had ordered three different cakes for a non-traditional ceremony. We were informed that Das Meyer (like most wedding cake shops) would provide a free cake on our first anniversary. So, we called them to order it and the girl indicated they had no record of our order. She checked under other names, but was unable to locate it. I found a payment to Das Meyer for $143.31 on my bank statement and she indicated that they would make the cake and asked that I just bring the statement in. No problem.

About 30 minutes later the manager called and said they would not be making the anniversary cake because they had no record of the original order and that the bank statement would not suffice. Plus, she said that their cakes started at $180.00 (seeming to suggest that I was lying). After some back and forth, she explained that she was "sorry", but still refused to make the cake.

A few things here: (1) A simple anniversary cake would not cost that much for them to provide. (2) I had proof of a payment, though not the original receipt (why would I save that for a year?) (3) A little effort on their part could have made for a "tremendous" experience for the customer.

In this industry, customer service is extremely important and they failed to deliver. I would never do business with Das Meyer again and will not recommend them. You can find cakes just as good at a place that offers stellar customer service.

Das Meyer definitely makes good cakes, but that's only part of the overall package. The other -- more critical -- part is how well they treat their customers and they are sufficiently lacking in this area.

Our wedding was a year ago and we had ordered three different cakes for a non-traditional ceremony. Cons: Poor customer service

Das Meyer has wonderful customer service. Their cakes are very delicious. BEST CAKE I EVER TASTED. The design of the cake was beautiful. I told them an idea what I wanted and let them do the rest. It looked fantastic. I had many compliments on how great the cake looked and how great it tasted. I had people calling me for months after the wedding asking where I got my cake. Thank you Das Meyer

We were one of the many 7-7-07 weddings, and had a wonderful experience with Das Meyer. The cake was worth every penny. We were able to sample several weekends until we finally decided on the three flavors we liked the most. Each time we tested the cake, they offered us water, and/or complimentary coffee, often times space was crowded, but they still made you feel important even with the volume of people there. We had a very sweet person who assisted us with our order going over all of our options with color, design and decoration. We went with fresh flowers delivered from our florist for the cake topper and cascading flowers down the front and sides. It was the most beautiful cake ever. The cake was so well received that there were not any left overs at our wedding! It was the cake of our dreams. The flavors we chose were chocolate baileys, berries in a cloud and cookis and creme. Honestly it was a hard decision as all of their flavors are just fantastic. The cake was a high priced item, but when you're planning a wedding most things are! But it completed the special day, and I don't regret for a second chosing them. We are definately looking forward to our complimentary anniversary cake this year, we know that it will bring back special memories that cake brought us for our wedding. I highly recommend Das Meyer.

The entire experience with Das Meyer was a pleasant one, starting with the cake tasting. When ordering, the young girl that helped us was very receptive to my needs and intricate details. I gave her several pictures of cakes and told her which part I wanted from each including colors. When I saw my cake for the first time I was amazed!! It was Perfect! Not to mention all the compliments of how delicious it was. Thank you Das Meyer for a wonderful experience. I can't wait for our anniversary cake;)

We have used Das Meyer for nearly every b-day and event in our family for a couple years now and they have consistently delivered great tasting and GORGEOUS cakes. Recently they made the cake for my sister's wedding, a phenomenal design and very unique. All 148 guests commented on how delicious it was, they made each tier a different flavor so there was something to please everyone. Although they made the bottom tier a different flavor than requested, the only one who noticed was the bride and no one seemed to care. Not to mention, it was an outdoor wedding, almost 90 degrees, and the fondant miraculously held up all afternoon in the heat! I don't mind them substituting when they are out of flavors...it is an indication to me of the high-quality, fresh ingredients used. Better to sub something fresh then use poor-quality, IMHO.

Go Saturday mornings for the best tasting selections. Beautiful decorating on top of superior quality and great customer service too! I compared 13 vendors and they went above and beyond all the rest by far!

I love this bakery! My brother used them for his wedding and at the wedding the best man and brides maid (me) were in an awful accident on the way to the reception. Since the I was a the grooms sister our parents had to spend most of the reception at the hospital and missed the cake cutting. Well Das Meyer heard about the accident and provided a free 6" cake for the bride in groom to cut in front of the grooms parents when they returned from their honeymoon. Then, when I got married, I had a three month engagement, which isn't much time to plan a wedding. But they were very accommodating. It was a three tier cake and they allow you to make each layer different, we had strawberries and champagne on top, cookies and cream in the middle, and chocolate with chocolate filling on the bottom. I printed a picture of a decorations I wanted from a website of an EXPENSIVE bakery and they made it look IDENTICAL. It turned out BEAUTIFUL, and of course it tasted delicious (very moist and flavorful). What I like best is that on your one year anniversary they give you a free 6" cake for free. Easy ordering, on time delivery, best taste!

What kind of business does not have call waiting?
I have been trying to get a hold of these guys for three days. Either no one answers the phone or the phone is busy, and they do know what a answering machine is!

I just cut into my birthday cake and was surprised to see it was NOT what we ordered. We ordered white chocolate with raspberry filling. No raspberry filling. My husband called to inquire what was going on and they told him "Oh, yeah we gave you a $5 discount because we didn't have raspberry today". What? They never even bothered to tell him in person that it wasn't the cake he ordered.

They offered to make me a complimentary cake in the flavor I ordered, but tonight is my birthday and birthday party - nice try. They refused to refund our money. On top of it all, the cake was disgusting. I have never been disappointed in their cakes - but this was almost "wet" tasting (husband said it tastes "milky"), and the filling (without raspberry, of course) was too thin and watery. We will NOT be using them for any functions in the future.

Finally, we were VERY disappointed with customer service- they did not tell my husband the cake was incorrect, and when we called they only offered $5 for our troubles. It's one thing to ruin a birthday cake, but imagine if this was you wedding cake, you know? We have been using Das Meyer for years for all different occasions, but this will be the last time.

Not only is Das Meyer the best bakery in Colorado, their employees (owners and all) are the nicest, kindest people I have ever met. I'm not sure what Brian is talking about, but I have had nothing but great experiences with this bakery, and the people that run it. Their cakes are FANTASTIC and they are willing to work with you, no matter what you want or what you're looking for. My family, and now ALL of our friends, have been going to this bakery for years and we have never come across any type of rudeness or arrogance from anybody. I recommend this bakery to everyone, and will continue to do so!! At this point, we try coming up with excuses to order a cake because they are so good!!! Not only are the cakes the best, their pastries and breads are also to die for!! I highly recommend the Bon Bons. :)

My fiance and I were trying to book Das Mayer for our wedding. We attended a cake tasteing and worked out the prices and talked about when we wanted it, but we were told that we couldn't book them until 6 months before the event. Three months later, we heard through the grapevine, however, that other people we knew with weddings after ours were already booking Das Mayer for their wedding. We went today to try and book them and they told us that they had a previous annual engagement and would be unable to make a cake for us. Needless to say, my fiance is freaking out as our second choice is already booked and we now have to scramble to make up for lost time. What gets me is that if they had looked at the date of our wedding when we first tried to book them, we could have avoided this whole mess because thay knew about the conflict even back then. Also, when they discovered the conflict, instead of trying to work around it, which is what I tried to do, they gave up on our business giving us only the option to pick it up 2 days early, and store it ourselves until the wedding because they are closed to the public on Sundays. I would think that if we were gong to take the time and effort to pick it up ourselves that they could let pick it up on a day when they are 'closed'. Shouldn't they be the ones trying to work things out with us?

Das Mayer has a reputation for this kind of poor customer service, and I would like to suggest that this reputation is well earned. I know now that the most important quality in any business is reliability and the ability to adjust to adversity. Das Mayer gave us bad information on when we could book them and then simply refused to work with us when thay discovered a bump in the road. They are definitely not the place you want to entrust one of the major components or your wedding. I would be very weary of any place that gives up on you at the first sign of trouble. Good luck to all you couples out there. Keep looking.

I used Das Meyer for my wedding cake in October, 2006. Everyone there was so nice! We tasted cake on a Saturday and they even allowed me to take free samples home to my then fiance, who couldn't be there. The flavors were wonderful, especially the Creme Brulee and the Strawberries and Champagne. Their plain white cake was the best I have ever tasted!

The customer service was wonderful. Everything on my wedding day went perfectly; the cake arrived right on time and looked gorgeous!

I just put in my order for my top tier at our one year anniversary. They were so nice and I can't wait to have out first anniversary cake! Yum!

Terrible Customer Service the Day Before Our Wedding!!
Not Recommended
We used Das Meyer for our wedding cake because they came so highly recommended. We went to the cake tasting, and the cake tasted great, so we ordered ours that day. The morning before our wedding, we received a call from our florist, that was dropping off the flowers to Das Meyer to decorate our cake, that Das Meyer had no idea our cake was to be decorated with flowers. We had discussed this with the salesperson, and putting flowers on the cake was on our original receipt! Das Meyer insisted that they were not putting the flowers on our cake, so I called our florist, and begged her to decorate the cake for me. She agreed, so all went well, however, Das Meyer did not honor their agreement with us. The florist also said that Dennis (the owner) was very rude and arrogant when delivering the cake. We had been warned of his arrogance, but didn't believe it until we experienced it first hand. Upon returning from our honeymoon, we called Das Meyer to discuss our frustration with the service we received, and to get our money back that we had paid for the flower decorating, but Dennis was again rude and obstinate and would not do anything to help us. I will never use this bakery ever again, and will warn all my friends not to do so as well! And a word of advice to brides...don't worry about the cake too much - no one eats it anyway - 2 whole tiers of our cake were thrown out!

Pros: Great tasting cake when at the bakery

Cons: Rude and arrogant

My family has been customers of Das meyer bakery for several years! we have always been completely satisfied in the past with all of the cakes we've ordered and purchased.
This month (June 2007) we ordered 3 cakes 2 of which we nothing like we ordered. When we contacted the owners of the bakery they were very argumentative and very defensive. I tried to let them know that I was NOT A SATISFIED CUSTOMER and was very unhappy, we were told that they did all they could and were not going to do anything to compensate us for the cakes we purchased and " It was up to me if I wanted to walk away from them and they wished me a good day!" Showing no regard for my being a loyal customer for so many years!
The two cakes that we picked up were NOTHING like what we ordered!
Basically what I would like to let everyone know about this bakery is that..."WE" as the customers are not valued!!! No matter what "WE" the customer asked for is NOT right in this company?s eye. My family will no longer be ordering any of your cakes from this family owned and operated bakery. We are very sad that this was the out come and overall we are very disappointed with the way we were treated by the owners of Das Meyer when we tried to express our concern regarding our order.
Please know that Das Meyer's cakes are wonderful...but you will not be treated as a valued customer if you have an issue with their service. To Das Meyer..." The customer is never right!!! They are!!!!"

Please know that Das Meyer's cakes are wonderful...but you will not be treated as a valued customer if you have an issue with their service. To Das Meyer..." The customer is never right!!! They are!!!!"

Pros: Wonderful cake

Cons: terrible customer service!

.

I have been hearing about Das Meyer for a while from my mother in law. She raved about the cakes and pastries. When I got engaged we immediately went there for a tasting. Their flavors can't be beat with creations like stawberries and champagne, chocolate raspberry truffle, and orange dream. Their cakes turn out beautifully and the customer service more than met my expectations. There is something romantic about ordering my wedding cake from a family owned bakery rather than Safeway. Not to mention the taste and artistic quality are outstanding. I can't recommend Das Meyer to enough people. Be sure to visit AT LEAST six months prior to your wedding because they book up fast. And although this bakery has a family owned and family friendly atmosphere, I would not suggest bringing children. It is not an enormous place and there are display cakes and breakables everywhere!

Cons: Don't take credit cards

No offense, Derek, but you must have had a cold when you rated two stars for the flavor of your Das Meyer cake. Presentation is out of this world and the cake just gets better when you taste it ~ YUM!! They make a ??Creme Brule? cake (tasting JUST like the real thing) to ??Orange Blossom? cake (with real orange pieces) and everything in between. Their butter-cream frosting just melts in your mouth (coming from someone who usually doesn't enjoy frosting)...and that??s just the start! They're outstanding! They may cost more than your grocery store cake ~ but they're worth every penny! I initially called on them to make my wedding cake and since have used them to make my daughter's Baptism cake and my family's birthday cakes because they're that spectacular. Five Stars all around!

I used Das Meyer to purchase a cake for a friends baby shower. The cake turned out beautifully, and they were so helpful in decorating, as my friend opted to not find out if she was having a boy or girl, so they did the cake in a jungle theme to match her nursery and it came out amazingly. So many compliments, everyone at the shower was afraid to cut the cake it was so pretty, and tatsy, we got the Chocolate rasberry truffle...so good!

Pros: High quality work, no matter the occasion

Cons: No credit cards accepted, hard to get in and out of

After a negative experience with Rheinlander bakery in Arvada, I am thrilled to be a new customer with Das Meyer. Beautiful cake decorating and friendly service. They listen to the customer, which in the end, makes them the better bakery in Arvada. I have converted my friends too!

Pros: The best cake and sweets that I have found in all of Denver

Cons: Not always easy to park, cash or check only

The cakes at Das Meyer are the most beautiful and best tasting cakes I've ever had and I've traveled over the world. There are NO corners cut, with only the best quality butters, creams, and vanillas available. They host a cake tasting and tea on Saturdays for brides and others getting ready to order for a big event. Customers choose the cake look they want from several photo albums, or custom cakes are available as well. There are hundreds of flavors available for frosting, filling and cakes; the possibilities are endless (try the strawberries and champagne!) They did the cake for my wedding and will be doing the one for our upcoming 10th anniversary as well. Oh -- and dependable? They delivered to my wedding in Downtown Denver in a blizzard. On time, no less.

My family ordered me the most beautiful cake I have EVER had from Das Meyer. It was a hazlenut tort and had beautiful flowers, blackberries and strawberries on top and the sides. If you want someone to feel extra special, order a cake from here as it truley is a work of art! The cake itself was so delicious with a wonderful german flare (which is my fave!). It is a little more pricy than Costco or Safeway but well worth the price. At Das Meyer, you get what you pay for and I am so impressed with this adorable place! Highly recommended!!!!

I used Das Meyer to make the cake for my wedding, and it turned out better than I could have imagined. I went to tastings all over Denver, because let's face it, how many times in your life are people begging to give you free cake?
Das Meyer had the best tasting cake of anywhere that I went. I like that they had predefined cake/filling combinations, such as Creme Brulee, so you didn't have to guess what would tast good together, like I had to do at a tasting at Child's Pastry.
They have free tastings every Saturday morning (and different flavors available each week). My husband and I went twice and fell in love with the Chocolate Lovers, Strawberries and Champagne, and Creme Brulee flavors.
They were easy to book, but I should admit that we booked a year in advance so that had something to do with it. The price was better than any other bakery that we visited. And the only issue was its location, because it isn't very central. They delivered, however, to our wedding venue in central Denver.

We also used Das Meyer for weddings. Both of my daughters chose Das Mayer after tastings at Karens, Gateaux, and Childs. The cake is simply delicious and in every flavor variety you could want. We had Bailey's and Chocolate, Rasberry Champagne, and Strawberries in a Cloud for one cake. The staff there is helpful and willing to make every accomodation. The final product is beautiful. But there is more than wedding cakes there. We go there weekly for pastries and pies, which are all just as delicious as the cakes. I think this is the best cake shop and patisserie in Denver.

Das Meyer Fine Pastry Chalet is excellent! The atmosphere reminds one of a gingerbread house which stores lots of tasty goodies. Everything in this shop tastes great and the service is friendly and upbeat. We particularly like the cakes. The flavors of the cakes and frostings are delicious--like Mom made them homemade from scratch but even more perfected by a fine pastery chef. The beauty of the of the cake decoration is phenomenal and far surpasses ANY bakery including Childs, Karen etc. They made our wedding cake in 1998 and we have celebrated every family occasion with a Das Meyer creation since. Mmm, Mmm good!!

This place must make good money. The amount they charge for a cake is crazy. I do have to say it was a nice looking cake. I would give them a 2 star for the taste of the cake. As far as appearance, the cake was outstanding. For that I would give a 5 star, so thats why they get a 4 star rating. Back to the taste. It looked yummy but it had a kind of strange taste. Its hard to describe. If you want a nice looking cake, give them a call. If you want a good tastiing cake, go somewhere else.

PROS: looks
CONS: taste
