Horizon is a great company! I recently had a problem with my air conditioner. Two other companies came out and tried to fix it. After several weeks and a whole lot of talk from the other companies, I finally called horizon. From the first call I knew this was a good company, then the Technician came out and had it figured out in about an hour. It has run for three weeks with no problems!!! If you want professionals call Horizon

This company is very professional and I appreciated all the courtesies they extended in getting my air conditioner up and running in a timely fashion. I signed up for their maintenance program and look forward to having them maintain my furnace and air conditioner going forward.

I was inspired to write this review after a service experience that i received earlier today. My A/C stopped blowing cold air even though it was running, turns out i had neglected to replace my air filter (shame on me). Anyway, just the interaction of my technician with my sometimes handful pet, really left me feeling that this individual really did care about communicating what needed to be done, where he needed to go, so i was really placed at ease right away, and we even had a couple of laughs, which included my german shepherd, totally not what i was expecting from having to have someone in to correct my mistake. Cheers to Horizon.

This was my first experience with a service provider in my new home, and i did not know quite what to expect. I had an issue with my air conditioner not turning on, and it ended up just being turned off in the circuit breaker panel. My technician Keith pointed this out to me, but also pointed out the other utility shut-offs and placed tags on them so that i would remember in the future, i was actually very impressed with the approach, and will definately use Horizon again in the future (hopefully i will not need them again in the near future :)

We have used Horizon before for work on a rental property - so we called them recently when our new tenant was having a problem with her heat. I gave them verbal approval to complete the work and then later found out they charged us over $450 for a replacement thermostat that costs less than $60 at home depot (they charged $456 just for the part). I couldn't believe it! I wrote them - very disappointed - and never heard back. I feel really swindled. I will never use them again.

Whenever a furnace breaks, the need to fix is urgent. Horizon Mechanical relies on your eagerness to fix the issue immediately, with cost being no object. \n\nI know this because when my furnace went down, I called the folks who originally installed the equipment. To my surprise, Horizon answered. They had purchased the phone number of the original company after that company went out of business.\n\nThey came over in short order, which was nice. Their technician was very friendly and quick to diagnose the problem, which was also nice. Then came the price, which was not so nice.\n\n$1300 to fix a motor. Is that a lot? I don't know; I have to rely on the experts. But some of the ancillary costs had me wondering. In addition to the up-sell ""maintenance plan,"" they were going to charge me another $80 to pick up the part... on top of the $100 that I was already paying them just to come to the house. None of that sat well with me.\n\nSo I looked for alternatives. Two companies responded. One was $700; the other was $500. Both were fully licensed, bonded, and experienced (15 yrs average), with good BBB records. Heck, I could have hired them BOTH to replace the motor, one after the other, and still saved money from what Horizon was going to charge.\n\nBottom line: Horizon is terribly expensive. They'll rely on your need for an immediate fix, and fleece you. Call someone else, even if you have to shiver overnight awaiting the repair.

My wife and I had boiler problems 12/09 and had $1,200 work done on our boiler to bring boiler up to very good operating condition. Tech and office was very professional and all work performed well. However, and this is a big however.during recent Feb 2011 cold blast of weather our boiler was not turning on. We phoned Horizon and they showed up rapidly (45min) and the tech (Greg R) was knowledgeable and efficient. The igniter which was replaced in 09 had gone out. This igniter had a one year warranty and no longer functioned after 13 months. Greg said it would cost $575 to replace. My wife first talked with the owner requesting Horizon replace the part at no charge . She was told no. I called the owner and with a bit of haggling got him to discount $100. Although dissatisfied I accepted the $100 discount. BOTTOM LINE - BUYER BEWARE! HORIZON DOES NOT HAVE GOOD BUSINESS SENSE TO HONOR A VERY GOOD CUSTOMER VALID REQUEST. A $575 PART WITH A ONE YEAR WARRANTY NO LONGER WORKS AT 13 MONTHS AND THE BEST HORIZON CAN DO IS OFFER A $100 DISCOUNT? After work was complete I found the exact part online for $30.00 which can be installed with basic plumbing/electrical skills.

Make sure you find a salesman that knows the products that he is selling...

My pregnant wife and I had so many problems with our salesman that we would rather start over with a different company in the middle of the summer than continue trying to get our air conditioner installed...here are a few of the problems with our salesman:
1) he didn't seem to know how big the air conditioner was going to be
2) he didn't know Excel Energy's requirement that the unit could not be within 4 feet of the meter
3) he didn't know that he needed the air conditioner to be 1 foot away from any obstruction (like a fence)
4) he didn't want to listen to me or my wife that we wanted the unit on the roof if it could not be near the Excel Energy meter
5) he told the installer that he wanted to install the unit right outside our back window
6) he took it upon himself to place a company sign in our neighbor's yard
7) he took 3 days to get an estimate for a roofing company to build a platform to place an air conditioner on the roof
8) he decided to tell us that we were getting a cheaper air conditioner to place it on the roof
9) he had the gall to tell us that we were paying $1000+ extra to have the cheaper air conditioner placed on the roof

So please....make sure you find out a lot of information before you try to get a unit installed! A month later I still have no air conditioning!

Although the technician was professional and timely, the service manager provided sketchy pricing. After a warranty replacement by Trane allotted Horizon a $300 credit for labor, they indicated an additional $700 was required for the service. After questioning this, I was told a full day's 8 hour work would be required for the replacement. The actual work only took 2 hours, and the manager refused to lower the price even though his estimated time for service was way off. \n\nI again called to question their pricing policy before writing this review and was given a lot of lip service about the average cost per hour of their competition and how much ""research time"" was required. Simply refunding me some of the cost would have resolved the issue, but this was not even offered.
