Firing Line is fine

by J C.

I am new to shooting but I have been to Firing Line for half dozen times. I don't think that the people there are particularly rude. The facilities there are OK. The partitions are somewhat narrow, particularly if your party is more than one person. There are shell casings on the floor. But I am not sure "filthy" is the right word. I go there for practicing shooting, not dining or sleeping. The air circulation could be better but the smell of gun powder is what I'd expect in an indoor range. The only thing that I am not completed thrill about is that I accidentally left a gun cleaning kit in the range and called back the second day, but was told that no one ever had ever seen it. So make sure that you don't lose anything there.

Rude Service, Subpar Range

by J W.

I usually take bad reviews on this type of site with a grain of salt, but they are accurate. The range is close to my house so I thought I'd give it a try. I was treated rudely and disrespectfully by the clerk who checked me in. I came very close to walking out. I have been to quite a few ranges and have never experienced such discourtesy. The range itself is not very good. The partitions are too shallow and allowed debris and powder from the adjacent lane to hit me in the face. Ventilation is very poor. Smoke lingers and burns the eyes, making it difficult to focus. The target retrievers did not work properly. They got stuck often.
The member lanes look nicer, but this is not a fun place to shoot. I would not buy a membership.

Very Good Selection, So So Everything Else

by jake w.

I have been to the Firing Line several times, almost every visit i notice that the customer service is almost non-existent. The sales people do have a tendency to ignore you and act like you are inconveniencing them by asking a question or requesting to look at a firearm. The range is not too bad, i believe that its 25 yards and the costs is reasonable considering the other gun ranges in Aurora are either exclusive clubs, or state parks that charge an arm and a leg to get in and are always crowded. Used firearms section is nice if your looking for a deal however they did sell me an SKS that was supposed to be in great shape but had trigger group problems from day one. But for the price that i got for i cant really complain.

Worst gun shop in Devner, maybe anywhere.

by Jeff E.

I moved to Denver about a year ago and immediately did a scouting mission to find the local gun shops and firing ranges. I found the Firing Line thinking it would be perfect because of it's proximity to my home and it's included firing range. Man, what a mistake. I foolishly purchased a membership to their range and now I regret ever having gone there.

The major problem is that all of the employees and even the OWNER will ignore you. They could give a crap less if you want to buy something so they spend their ENTIRE day milling about behind the counters talking to each other and ignoring every customer that comes through the door. When you do get one to talk to you they give the impression that you're wasting their time or keeping them from a very important conversation with their buddies.

The facilities themselves are sub-par compared to every other firing range I've every been to. 15yd range is weak sauce if you ask me. I had a hope that when they "renovated" a few months ago they would extend the range to 25yds but no such luck. The public range is just plain filthy, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft. pole. The new members range is an improvement, admittedly, but it's still not worth the money for a membership. YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED IF YOU GO HERE.

The last time I went in here to shoot I was treated so rudely that I just turned around and walked out the door. I will never go there again. If you're looking for a place to shoot that has friendly people, try the Aurora Gun Club.

Firing Line is Gross

by Joseph C.

Very filthy place. You'll probably get cancer just visiting the lobby of the range.

Not too friendly to law enforcement either. Sad.

The place can be empty and they will not allow law enforcement to shoot on the members (very slightly cleaner) side of the range.

Firing Line is worst gun shop I have ever seen

by Dee S.

I see that others have had the same experiences I have had for a decade plus. I try -hard- TO NOT GO HERE, even though they're the closest gun store. The staff is annoyed that you're there and wishes you weren't, and doesn't hesitate to let you know. Possibly all of them are going through bitter divorces from each other. Their sense of humor has been surgically removed. They could easily find jobs at the old Soviet KGB. Just for that extra edge, they all pack pistols.
Should you -actually- get one to talk to you, which will probably take a bullhorn and flare gun, you will then wish you hadn't. For example, I was rather amused by their effort to sell me grips for my .38 that were obviously for another handgun.
Technically I give them just a so-so, which is made worse by their attitude of "Our opinion or none".
If you should come in looking for a rifle part, the first question from them will be: "Why would you want that rifle?"
Another example: I'm looking for one of the best and most popular shotguns in the world, the Remington 870 Express. (The British SAS looked at every shotgun in the world and called the 870 the best). Now, guess whose website says they don't stock it? This is what I mean by "Our opinion or none".
There are lots of other gun shops, some who stock the right grips for a .38, and a Rem 870. I go to them.

The worst of the worst!

by joe s.

Has about the worst customer service that I've ever seen from a firearms dealer. Bought a gun here, had a problem and it needed to be sent back to the manufacturer, the British guy that works there wanted to charge me a transfer fee AND charge me shipping - he estimated the cost of his "service" to be about $80. I could understand shipping ($30) but a transfer fee was absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary. Especially since I bought the firearm there. I felt as if he didn't care about me as the customer - wanted me to just leave or charge me an extraordinarily excessive fee. Seemed lazy and unhelpful. Plus the place is perpetually dirty. Think twice about shopping there. I learned my lesson.

Employees

by John T.

I've been in there a few times and the employees are very rude. I was looking at guns, ammo and the range and not one of the employees asked me can I help you or I'll be with you in a minute. I was wanting to buy a gun there and shoot at the range, I was going to buy ammo there but I don't think I'll go there again.

Rude employees

by erik s.

I bought a few guns and became a member, and I feel invisible every time I browse the gun counter. I have to tackle anyone to answer any questions, and am asked to show them my ammo before I shoot.
I wish I could have every nickel I've ever spent there back, needless to say I won't be renewing my membership.

Everyone-Friendly Staff and Fun Too

by m h.

I am a small female w/small hands, new to the gun hobby. I went there w/a girlfriend of mine to purchase my first pistol. Normally in these "good-ol-boys hobby" type of stores, women get the "so, where is your husband" or "what are you buying for your husband" treatment. Not so at the Firing Line. The staff was friendly, and gave great advice on product knowledge. Plus, they have a wide array of rentals, so you can try before you buy. I went home happy w/my very first 9mm semi. Great store and great range!

Shooter

by Gene C.

Nice shop! I have bought 4 pistols there. The guys are very friendly and they know what they are talking about. I am a member so I shoot as much as I can. They do need to get some kind of air filter system going. It sometimes is very smokey and rather choking. Its pretty hot sometimes during the summer. All around a great place.

Nice gun shop, mediocre range

by Bill C.

Pros: Cheap to shoot (only $10 to shoot all day). Nice gun shop with lots of accessories and knowledgeable folks.

Cons: Indoor range has no air conditioning and poor air circulation. The atmosphere was chokingly thick. Lighting is very poor. Range could use some simple cleaning and sprucing up, including wall & ceiling repair and painting.

nice place to shoot

by Derek 1. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,807

We go here all the time to shoot. They have all kinds of guns that you can rent. If your looking to buy a new gun, see if they rent it first. That way you can try it out before you spend the money on it. The guys that work there are really nice. They have about 5 ranges. They have another set of ranges that you can shoot at, but you have to have a membership. The prices are not bad.

PROS: guns
