I had seen many bad reviews for the store and was a bit hesitant to go there, however when a couple of friends requested me to go for grocery, I went along with them.

The positive thing is that this store has huge variety compared to other little grocery shops in the vicinity. You can practically find everything there.

I then tried to test the complains about expiry dates and it came out to be true. Many products either had expiry date not present or expired. BEWARE of buying anything without checking the expiry date.

I finally went to the billing counter and asked the guy (an old man with winter headgear) if he has Boroline, he found one in one of his drawers and handed over to me. I looked at it and found that it was manufactured in "09/2012". I showed that to him, he took it from my hand, went back to his drawer and put it back there. I thought he probably would look for a newer item, but to my surprise, he calmly came back, and started billing the items for the next person behind me. He didn't even look at me once, as if I wasn't present there. I stood there for 10-15 seconds realizing what just happened and then finally left in disgust. The person behind me looked at me once and then looked at the old guy, I could see on his face, that he too felt bad.

I totally agree with other people in this forum that he thinks that he is doing a favor to us by selling us grocery, not to mention at OVERPRICED rates, when compared to other stores.

One person has given a comment that we desis are used to fake Walmart greetings and mistake the shop owner's "focus" as "rudeness". In my opinion, he "is" rude and I would request you NOT TO MISTAKE HIS "RUDENESS" FOR "FOCUS".

Be careful when buying in this store, i see expired goods are sold intentionally. For a situation the expired date was hidden by the price tag for the product i was looking for . I accidentally took the other box of the same product i saw the same which was hidden by the price tag. This made me peel the price tag and see the expiry date. I was shocked to see the product was expired 2 years ago dated June 2011. When i questioned the shop keeper he replied me "THE PRODUCT IS STILL IN MY STORE AND YOU DID NOT BUY IT YET".So fellow buddies please be AWARE while purchasing there.

I've shopped at Bombay Bazaar, and am amazed at the selection of items that here-to-fore I've only been able to purchase on a visit to India. Bru instant coffee, for example. I always leave with more than I intended to buy.
I never found the owner to be rude. He is very focused on his business. When the lines at the single register exceed 7 people at times, I think he is focused on making sure that everyone gets checked out in an efficient manner.
The downside is, the help that keeps the store so immaculate is not aware, or maybe not authorized, to offer advice on where to find things. The owner will help you if he has time, but when he's checking out a customer, that customer comes first.
I would shop here all the time if I lived closer.

I have shopped at Bombay several times, and never experienced 'rudeness' from owner or staff. In fact, he has helped me several times when he saw me searching for something I couldn't find.

For me, the most important aspect of a market is its selection. I find Bombay Bazaar very strong in this measure. I have not tried too many other shops, but the ones I have have NOT had the selection that I find at Bombay Bazaar.

I am very happy this store is in Denver, and hope it continues in business for a long time. Coming from Detroit, MI area (where there are multiple south asian markets in every neighborhood), I had initially despaired of cooking Indian/Nepalese/Tibetan food, but now I am free to cook my old favorites and also try new recipes.

Thank you Bombay Bazaar.

had bad experience with Bombay bazar. Sardarji is very rude and things are really costly. He is changing prices every week. The register price for Frozen food is 1.99 $ and he is charging 2.99$ to 3.99$. The prices from distributor is 1.99$ every where in US. Oh my god the things r expired and he is not taking out from the rack. Please before buying anything check the expiry date and dont buy any sweets. You will get food poison. We bought the Sweets from there and had immedately . After half anhour i started vommiting and went to emergency .We called Sardarji and explained him that sweets are spoiled , he kept the phone. he didnt utter a single word.
One morething he is charging you for the Newspaper which comes free in Newjersy. One morething check the bills before going out from the store because he charges extra in bills. We have very bad experience .

I don't know what all these bad reviewers are on about - I've never had a negative experience with Bombay Bazaar, everything I've ever purchased was fresh and the owner is consistantly friendly to me, even when I did ask questions. I only wish another Bombay Bazaar would open downtown, I'd do a lot more of my shopping there.

Better not to buy anything. Keeping expired items. It is very difficult to identify the product expiry. The sardar is very rude and thinking as if he is doing favor to the customer. Not giving proper response.

Never go this store. The owner(Sardar) is a cheat. Very unfriendly and cheap mentality. He does not put price on any item. Gets angry when you ask for the price. He behaves like he's doing a big favour by opening his mouth when you ask him a question. If he doesn't like opening his stinking mouth, why doesn't he put price labels on every item in his store. Items are definitely over priced when compared to any other Indian stores in Denver. Since there are no price labels on some items, he charges whatever he wants and if you dare to ask him the price, he gets extremely upset. Atleast I don't want to spend my money in a store where the owner is a jerk like him.

I have been a customer of Bombay Bazar for more than 12 years. The shop is well maintained, clean and all the groceries are up to date (Not expired).Customer service is much better, if you try to be smart don't forget that the store owner is also a "desi" like you.Go in and get the stuff you want, you are not there to build relationships.I

I know it may not be professinal to write a review of another store. For those who think the price is right, visit Sathvik Foods. I used to be (in the past tense) a customer of Bombay Bazaar until I found Sathvik Foods about 3 months ago. If i start comparing prices i know i would step past the "professional boundry" even further.

One huge diff i see is the bill. At Sathvik Foods I get an itemized bill listing the unit price the qty and total cost on each item. While it may seems like a like small aspect, that, personally, was a huge diff for me.

A very good Indian grocery store, for all the items you require which includes atta to saullt. I found that some other stores d't have sault / few small products but this store has all the Items. And it also has DVD's collection with latest releases. I d't know why there are so many negative comments about this store.
Prices are similar to all the stores and sardar was also good at people, he also asked us weather we need somethings else.He was pretty gud.Leaving a side all the negative reviews, it is suggested for the quality items.

My husband and I have been shopping at this store for a few years now and we have tried others in the area but definitely consider this our main desi-food stop. The prices are reasonable, and the inside of the shop is well-organized and neatly kept. We have never found any product we bought from this store to be too old or not living up to its expected quality.
I would pay no heed to all this criticism re the owner's "customer service." He is a very respectful, ethical, and pleasant guy. My guess is that we are so inundated with fake-smiles and walmart-greetings that people assume a taciturn guy is just plain rude. He will not come running after you to push products on you, which I appreciate, but he is always very helpful when I need assistance looking for something.

I have read all the negative reviews below. However, my question to all you reviewers is you are not precise as to what kind of customer service was bad. i.e. please give incidents and what your expectations are.

Secondly, you are buying groceries and paying him. Just like all of us, he has bad days.

The store has been open for more than 12 years and he is still in business. I wish I could say that for a lot of Indian restaurants and shops.
I think it is well organized and I have been shopping there all the 12 years; and yes we can get a lot of items.

Stores should be evaluated by wait line and availability of things. Not for customer-service!! It is not a restaurant!!!

After reading these reviews, I was hesitant to shop here but I ended up doing so after asking around about other stores. First off- the manager was very nice to me and didn't show me "arrogant" attitude I read about here. The store had everything I needed and more.. it's definitely nice to have a store like this in a home away from home. I would definitely recommend this to indian grocery shoppers in town...

It is great store I always shop there. I do not go there to socialize I go there to get my groceries and never had bad experience. I have gotten worms in the atta from other 3 nearby stores. It could be the bad shipment. And if you make the effort he will talk to you.

I would not recommend you to go this store. The owner, a Sardar is a very rude and arrogant fellow. He behaves as if he is giving away alms to his customers. I have never come across a shopkeeper this arrogant ever in my life. There are other good Indian stores to go in Denver. Definitely not this one.

It is the cleanest store in Metro Denver with fresh merchandise. The sardar at the frond desk is as rude as his counterparts in Bangkok.

He can sweep away the competition if he wants to by stop being so rude. Most people don't shop there because of his behavior; the same reason we took our business somewhere else.

The prices are simmilar to other stores'.

We use to go to this store previously for South Asian groceries and produce but stopped lately due to poor customer service. The owner does even bother to say hi or greet customer. Also prices are comparatively higher. There are few other stores offer better customer service and better prices. One day I bought a sweet box from this store and found not good (bad smell). When I went to return it, the owner was hesitant to refund, but finally did.

This is one of the best Indian grocery stores in the Denver area. The store is well stocked and Ive always got whatever Indian items I needed. They have s separate section for DVDs and this shop is up to date in getting the latest DVDs in stock. Though the price is a bit high when compared to other Indian grocery stores, I prefer this store since its well stocked.

This is one of the grocery stores that caters to the needs of Indians or anyone looking for Indian grocery. The store is very well stocked. Indian vegetables and Indian Sweets are also available. They also have a very good collection of Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam cassettes and DVDs. I am a regular for their DVD rental section. This store always has the latest DVDs in stock as soon as they hit the market. Also the store is very well organized making it easier to search what you want. They also have DVDs and CDs on sale throughout the year. The only negative aspect of this store is that the pricing is a bit on the higher end.

PROS: Well stocked
CONS: Price is a bit high
