Food inspired by that of Northern Brazil, the atmosphere is festive and the wide variety of south american drinks is amazing. I like Cafe Brazil for a special night out that doesn't cost a fortune but feels like a great party. Try anything with shrimp in it.

I've read some of the other reviews and feel the negative ones are pretentious drivel. If you're a stickler for service, then you'll go when the crowds aren't so thick, which is what I did. Also, Brazil is a very large country, so anyone stating that the cuisine at Cafe Brazil is not authentic must surely have eaten everywhere in Brazil (get over yourself)! I couldn't have designed a better restaurant experience. The food was fabulous and the service was excellent. I also appreciate the fact that they haven't spent a lot of money on decore. To me that means they're spending their money on the right stuff---the food and the servers. In the end, that's all that really matters. Good job, Cafe Brazil!

Oh - My - Gosh - I thought I had died and gone to heaven. When I walked in I instantly hooked into the beat of "Bate Forte o Tambor " - authentic Brazilian music. I was dancing while I was shown to my table. Be sure to reserve well in advance. I was told I would have to eat in the bar when I reserved, but they made a place for me in the main room when I came. I was literally dancing in my seat while waiting for my menu. The energy here is electric! Cool! Hip! All the waiters serve with a very happy smile and high energy. They have 4 high quality speakers placed around the room, and while they didn't dominate the conversation, the music created the hypnotic effect of feeling you are on a sidewalk cafe/restaurant in Copacabana, with the Atlantic ocean waves crashing on the shore across the street. I had the Moqueca de Peixe and it was a PERFECT 10! Did I say it was perfect? It was DELECTABLE!!! While I was waiting for my food I made a trip to the rest room. During that time, my soup had arrived. When I got back to the table, my soup had been covered with a plate to keep it warm, and my napkin had been artfully rolled into a scroll and draped across the top plate. Let me tell you, this is the best continental service that is RARE to find in America. The service is beyond what we are used to seeing here, and is at the caliber of what we would only see in a 5 star restaurant. But this place IS laid back, so it's not intimidating service. Expect the best of the best here. It's a great place for a second date, edgy, fun, cool. There were plenty of people in there in their 50's as well as some in their 20's and 30's. I just can't say enough good things about this place! I want to go back weekly. When it was time to go, I was actually sad to leave. Walking out to the parking lot, I had that same immensity of feeling that one has after seeing a great play, or having been to a great symphony, that you were totally mesmerized and taken over by some form of art. That's Cafe Brazil!

This is a wonderful spot for a romantic date or a business meeting (I've done both). The service is great, with just about everyone who works there stopping by your table throughout the night. The food is delicious, tends to be on the spicy side, so consider yourself warned. Your meal is presented as artwork, just beautiful. I was there last time with a large group and everyone had a different entree... all were delicious. You won't be disappointed.

I was sorry to read that LuvDenvFood had such a disappointing experience. Perhaps requesting the table you'd like vs. being unhappy with what you're given would've worked. Please try again, their service is almost always spot on (I've never, ever had the experience you did). I wish they'd open for lunch - they are pricey and it would give people the opportunity to try the cuisine without such a monetary commitment. That said, the food here is absolutely exquisite. I've tried almost everything on the menu and have yet to find a loser. You just can't beat fresh, fresh, fresh!

Okay, so I thought Brazil was supposed to be layed back and jovial. Not so.

We walked in, looked to the left, and there were two tables with people at them, the remaining 18-20 tables were empty. So where are we INSTRUCTED to go? The bar area...did i mention we had an infant with us! Then, he tried to seat us at a two seat table, yes there were three of us, and this was also right next to the door.

Disappointing, mainly because I had high expectations and the service was almost irresponsible as they had their framed "5280" etc posted. Plus, the nerve to serv $20+ entrees while you sit on plastic lawn furniture? I'll pass. Too many fantastic options in Denver with just as good food, but outstanding service, and very well priced.

Overall, the place was stuffy, pushy, dismissive and just plain snobby. Really? Are YOU doing me a favor by seating me and allowing me to eat there. No thanks. We left after the water was served and the liquor menu was shoved in our face and BTW the menu was not that impressive. Try another restaurant.

I have to say that I was truly surprised and impressed by this restaurant. The food was amazing from start to finish. I have to rave particularly about my fiance's dish... a Chilean white fish with a Mango/Pineapple/Macadamia Nut butter. It was one of the best things I have ever tried in my life. This restauarnt is a hidden gem and in different cities the lines would be out the door.

I could not have been more pleased with my dining experience at Cafe Brazil! The food was phenomenal and the service was speedy and friendly! I had the Cazuela Colombiana and savored every bite of it. If you like spicy food, this is an excellent choice. Remember to save room for dessert!!!

I could care less if this authentic Brazilian food or not. The food is fabulous. I take friends, business associates, and clients here and EVERYONE raves about the food and almost all tell me that they have been back (even some business associates from out of town). Great Brazilian drinks as well. The service is more relaxed than most Americans are used to so don't bother eating here if you're in a hurry or don't want that South American or European "dinner as an experience" relaxed atmosphere. This is one of my favorite Denver restaurants.

My fiance took me here for my birthday in August. We had reservations and had to wait, but I can handle that. We sat down, and had good service, and the food was really good. However, the host or hostess allowed too many people at this table next to ours, and in a crowded restaurant's major pathway from the kitchen, this was not a good sign. I had already scooted as far over away from the pathway as I could because I could see this being a problem at some point, and I was not disappointed. My drink was spilled when our table was bumped by a server. Lucky for me, my foot was the only part that got wet. The people working here took our information saying they would like to make it up to us and would be in contact with us, but alas, here we are almost four months later, and have never heard a word. Had they not made the promise in the beginning, I still would have gone back, but because of the lack of follow through, I won't.

This is NOT Brazilian food. The feijoada is runny bean soup that they just throw in a few pieces of sausage or chicken after you order, not REAL feijoada by any means. Most of the rest of the dishes don't even exist in Brazil. I didn't see one single Brazilian working there to perhaps tell the cook that that he/she had no idea about authenticity. The other dishes that the people in my party (mostly Brazilian natives) ordered were ok, albeit small, and again, not authentic by any means. Over all, very disappointing.

Their version of a Caipirinha is very good, perhaps the best I have had in Denver in a public establishment. The service was so so, many times we were left waiting for a drink, appetizer, etc.

If you are looking for authentic Brazilian fare...try Texas de Brazil. They don't know how to spell their own name correctly in Portuguese, but they know how to cook. It's a bit pricier, but for much more authentic.

I went to this restaurant for the first time years ago, I think in 1999, before I moved from Denver for a few years. Now I have moved back after being gone for years and my husband and I went here for out anniversary about a week ago. Amazingly, it was every bit as fantastic as it was the first time.

The food is SO GOOD here. Vibrant, colorful, and tropical. Heavy use of coconut milk and chile and red bell peppers. Great condiments including a fiery hot sauce made in house. Get anything on the menu, it is all wonderful. The desserts are the only drawback. We wanted something to take with us so we ordered the sour guava cheesecake. It was nice but I probably would not order it again. Everything else was phenomenal and the service and staff are attentive and pleasant.

Went there last night for girl's night and was pleasantly surprised by the customer service and food. Our water glasses were never empty. The food was great. We ordered the cheese special that came with a herbed garlic sauce that was incredible. Our entree's were very flavorful and hot. Large portions and very colorful with fresh vegetables. Order the Cocacabana!!!!! Next time I will order the black bean soup instead of the salad, which could use a little love. Overall great experience. We will be back.

It's a bit pricier than I normally seek out, but it's such good food I love bringing out-of-towners here. The focus is on grilled meats with accompanying veggies and rice. But no, this description sounds bland. Every morsel is packed with unique flavors and spices. Entrees $15-25.

I loved this restaurant. The food was fabulous! It's colorful and lively, yet romantic. Reservations are a must, and don't expect a quick bite to eat. Spend time enjoying the music and atmosphere, not to mention the food! It's rich in flavor but not too hot and spicy. The meal is beautifully presented which makes it even more appetizing. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Denver! I actually loved the previous location, but at least now there's a little more room. Contrary to some of the prior reviewers, I think the music and lighting creates the wonderfully authentic atmosphere. But the important parts - the food and the service - are to die for! I highly recommend getting at least one of the specials, as I have never been disappointed. I had an appetizer on special, which was a fried cheese with an avocado sauce, and it was so fantastic I've been combing the internet to find a similar recipe! I recommend this place to anyone with a mature palate, a desire for fresh food, and love of cultural immersion.

My best friend just took me to Cafe Brazil for my birthday. It was a great gift. This place is small and quaint, all be it a little bit dark for me. Thats not the point of this review though. The food was excellent. I got the special (I forget the name). It had 3 nice chunks of halibut, 2 good size scallops, 2 muscles and 2 big shrimp. With a coconut sauce that was filled with yummy veggies, coconut pieces, green onions, and golden raisins. All over a bed of rice. It came with bread and soup or salad (I got the black bean soup and it was yummy too). Since its pretty small I agree with getting reservations. Although, we went on Thursday night at 6:00 and got a table for two without reservations. Give this one a try, Im sure you will enjoy.

As we entered the inviting brightly-colored dining room with eclectic lighting, we were greeted with a handshake by our host Mauricio. After we ordered a Mojito and a Caipirinha, our server recommended that we begin with the special smoked pork loin appetizer that had been marinating for 3 days and served with a spicy plum sauce. We were not disappointed. For our entrees we tried the evening's Snapper special served with shrimp and avocado and the traditional Brazilian dish Xim Xim that features chicken, shrimp, coconut rice, peppers and cashews. Both were excellent and exotic especially when topped with the fresh pepper condiments provided at every table. The reasonably priced wine list features selections from Spain, Argentina, and Chile. The flan-like dessert we chose was a little lack-luster so I recommend that you skip it and have more appetizers. We will definitely be back!

I've eaten at Cafe Brazil just once since it moved to it's new, larger home at 44th and Lowell. The decor is inviting and though it is still an intimate establishment, at least you don't feel like you're hovering over other guests as you wait for a table! Be prepared to go with the flow...you will be taken care of as if you were a guest in someone's home but this isn't the kind of place you'll be in and out of in an hour. Some of the portions are on the small side, but most dishes are excellent. Ask you server for a suggestion--they know what's good and what's just so-so. (P.S. I take offense to the person who referred to this location as the "hood." Maybe you should just stick with Chilis in Highlands Ranch if this quaint, colorful, family neighborhood is too scary for you.)

Entering at night made me feel like I was in on a secret. The atmosphere is quaint with the sounds of soft Bossa Nova music playing from the back room, the staff occasionally saying something to eachother in Portugese. This along with the aromas eminating from the kitchen really takes one to a far-away place in another hemisphere. Food was great ... best calamari I ever had! My wife, not one for seafood, even loved it. I was disappointed with the Feijoada Completa. It was basically their blackbean soup with a few pieces of sausage ... I was expecting better. My wife had a ginger chicken dish that was AWSOME, although it tasted more like Thai/Brazillian fusion cuisine ... still great though. The whole experience was so beautiful that it actually made my wife tear up (no kidding) ... maybe a couple of glasses of red wine helped ;-)

Pros: Intimate, Calamari, Music

Cons: , Neighbor "hood", Feijoada disappoints

I've been here many times and consider this to be one of my favorites. The value iss excellent, there aren't many restaurants in the area that serves such excellent food in decent portions at a price that actually matches. I've never left hungry or unsatisfied, and have never left thinking that I spent too much. The seafood dishes are my favorites, the prawns always cooked perfectly and taste fresh. Vegetables are cooked prefectly, still crisp, not overcooked. The rice is always done well. The combination of meat, rice, vegetables, fruits (mangoes, others) and spices make the dishes here exotic, different, exciting and delicious compared to anything else in Denver.

.. and so on. This is one place well worth going to. Original, authentic, out-of-the-way. I don't wish to say that Denver needs more restaurants like Brazil, because it's one of a kind, but I will say that Denver could use an authentic, non-pretentious set of ethnic cuisines tucked all over the city. Kudos to Brazil for making a cozy place with great food. It's a bit crowded for kids or private romantic conversation, but hey - you gotta make your own fun (I brought the kids and they loved it).

Best restaurant in Denver! Such great food, international flavor, and friendly service (especially if you know a little Portuguese). Don't forget to say Obrigado!

Although it had been almost nine years since the last visit, we were pleasantly surprised to find that Cafe Brazil still serves phenomenal food. Sure, their prices have gone up, but only to catch up with the times. The portions are still well worth the price. You want small portions at trumped up prices? Try Cuba Cuba.

Any seafood dish is divine. My favorite is the Calena. Its perfectly cooked sea scallops and velvety flavors are heavenly! The Colombian Casserole (Cazuela Colombiana) is out of this world...as it should be...the owner is from Colombia!

Good, affordable wine selection. Excellent coffee!

Located in a little pink house that is deceptive to the dining experience inside. My wife and I went to Cafe Brazil for an aniversary dinner after seeing the "most romantic" rating. While I would not say it is the most romantic of places being for the most part jam backed and loud, the food is fantastic. We have been back a half dozen times or so with family and friends and each and every time the meals have been consistantly outstanding.

Insiders tip? Try the specials. I have had the specials the last 4 times we have been and have shared with all at the table. To a person they have all agreed they are outstanding.

I'd heard a lot about Cafe Brazil but only recently decided to visit this infamous Denver favorite. Wonderfully fresh and flavorful food infused with spices that were a new experience for me. My entree selection: grouper fish and giant prawns, accented with a fresh mango salsa and pomegranate seeds. Amazing. The service is very efficient. The food arrives in a timely fashion - not too soon and not too late. My only qualm - some of the waitstaff need to learn how to smile. Not the warmest group. But trust me, it's such a minor setback compared to your overall experience here. My biggest recommendation - make reservations. One more thing - Cafe Brazil is conveniently located one block down from some of Denver's well-known contemporary art galleries - PIRATE and BUG. Make a night of it!

We're going back to Cafe Brazil tonight for the 5th or 6th time. The food has been consistently well-prepared on each visit. The service is efficient and typically fast (even when crowded, as is often the case). The calamari are the best we've had in Denver . . . always fresh, crispy, flavorful, tender. We've yet to find an entree that was not good. The wine list (focusing on South American wines) is reasonably priced.

Cafe Brazil is the type of restaurant you could find in NYC's Greenwhich Village. The building looked like a little house turned restuarant. Small, but very personable, unlike any corporate restaurant that plagues most of the Denver area. We ordered the halibut special($21), the traditional brazillian black bean stew dish($16), the hearts of palm appetizer ($12) and the mango cheesecake ($6). The food was delicious, you could taste the freshness of everything from the collard greens to the beans. There were two let downs. The black bean dish description included smoked meats and sausage. There were about 4 small slices of suasage and that's it. The halibut was tasty, but I would have liked more flavor, the glaze was too light. The dessert was DELICIOUS. Overall: refreshing food, exotic decor, good music and service, but slightly overpriced, especially for it's location.

Ok, so I will agree with the previous reviews that Cafe Brazil has INCREDIBLE food that is second to none, but romantic? I would beg to differ.

Unless you like sitting elbow-to-elbow with the table next to you, and hearing everyone else's conversations (and vice versa), I would not consider Cafe Brazil romantic in the least.

Still, it is worth a visit for the cuisine, the wine and the desserts, which are worth saving room for.
