This is just an amazing place. I love that they have so much space in here. This is really a great place for dancing. I like that they have amazing choices when it comes to music as well.

Falling Rock is one place in whole of Denver that offers the best selection of good beer and it's always changing. The food served is pretty good. They also have pool and darts, with occasional live music and off course Happy hours.

While the beer here is great, do not come less than fully able bodied. The wait staff is highly intolerant of those that don't move fast enough to suit them.\n\nThe recessed patio is a nice break from the rest of LoDo and the downstairs area is comfortable, akin to a family basement.

Pros: Good beer, nice patio

Cons: Terrible staff, rude

I've been to this bar several times over the past few years and things seemed okay (not great, just okay). But I was there on Saturday 7/25/09 from noon until 1:30 with a bunch of friends and we were not just treated rudely, as other reviewers have stated, we were treated with absolute disdain. The waitress was literally throwing plates of food on our table and the bartender acted as if we were vermin in need of extermination. We left and went across the street to a friendly bar with a competent and engaging wait staff. My friends and I will never set foot in this place again nor will any of our friends or relatives. These guys should be out of business soon if they are treating all their customers this rudely.

You know.....you can serve me good beer and tasty food all nite long, but if the service is terrible and the attitude is rude, I will not have fun. This place does not seem to understand that. I have tried this place twice and both times were horrible. The bartenders on both visits were rude. We seemed to have the incredible vanishing waitress and the bartender would not serve us while seated at a table....even if paying cash at the bar for the drinks to bring back to the table. In this economy, unless they change their ways, I have no idea how this place will remain open. Too many other nice places in LODO to spend my money.\r\n\r\nNo more chances for this place from me and I will make sure my friends know to avoid this place too.

I'll keep it simple - if you like good beer, you will like Falling Rock. It's a no frills atmosphere with a nice beer selection, and a far cry away from the meat market bars it shares a general area with.

This is one of our favorite places to go with or without our kids. It has a great causal atmosphere. It has a huge exceptional collection of some of the best beer in the world. I particularly love IPA's and they have great selections of hoppy beer. In addition they have great hamburgers and homemade French fries.

Good burger, good beer, angry ninjas.........what's not to like? If I had to complain, I wish it was closer to my house and not downtown.

Located in LoDo. Excellent atmosphere. They specialize in 69 micro and imports on tap. For bar food there's is superior. I don't drink beer but I have been introduced to Belgian Beer through their owner and loved it. This is a really fun place. One can sit inside our out.

...but I finally have to issue a review, and I'm afraid it ain't good. Let me begin by saying I've been a BIG fan of this bar and its beer selection for over seven years and have had many good times there. HOWEVER, it's no secret that the place has clearly gone downhill over the last couple of years. Like a lot of other reviews mention, the service here has become surly at best, non-existent at worst. The perception on the street is that if you happen to know someone who works here (as I'm lucky enough to) then chances are you'll receive great service. If not, well, there's no telling what you'll get. It's completely hit-and-miss, and I've witnessed servers and bartenders being downright rude and mean to patrons on more than one occasion. And maybe this is just me and my weird luck, but it seems like the last few times I've been in there I've had to pick three different beers off the menu before they actually had one that was available. \r\n\r\nIf the owner happens to read this, please PLEASE do something before I and a lot of other people finally just give up on this place. It's a shame to see something you love turn into something awful.

Pros: Best beer selection in the state if not the entire west.

Cons: Unfriendly service.

.

Great selection of beer, although often the vast selection leads to some skunky old pints. Don't expect good or even any service unless you are well endowed, and even then..... The OWNER HURT MY FRIEND when he slung a door into her and he didn't even say sorry to HER. I told him he should appologize and he cussed us both out and told us to get the ""F"" out of his bar. It used to be my favorite and only bar in Denver, but I will never return again!!!! There are better places to spend your money, plus their beer is fresher since they don't caryy so many varities!

Pros: Variety of (Skunked Out) Beer

Cons: No/ Horrific service from bartenders, waitresses, oh, and one of the owners is the rudest and unkindest persons in the world

I found it interesting that the last review also mentions that the bartender told the poster to ""get out"" - that was exactly what I was told. I had tolerated the bad service in the past because of the beer selection, but I will not be back. We stopped by yesterday and I went to the bar to order beer. The bartender walked up and down the bar several times but never acknowledged me. He finally looked up and down the bar to see who needed a beer. I gave a little wave to try to get his attention. As he walked toward me, he said ?I?m not your dog. Don?t wave at me?. (I don?t usually wave to dogs.) I said that I was just trying to get his attention and gave him my order. He walked away and told me he would need to see two IDs (because I ordered two beers). I was standing behind people who were sitting at the bar, so I tossed the IDs onto the bar so that the people in front of me wouldn?t have to move. At that point he said ?If you are going to act like that, I don?t want your money. You should just get out.? My friend and I moved on to another bar, happy to not reward such wretched service.

I unfortunately can't comment on the food or the beer, as we never had either. We stopped at the Tap House on a whim and encountered such amazingly horrible service before ever ordering that we gave up in disgust and left. When we told our waitress we were ready to order, she said she'd be right back, then went and chatted with the bartender for TEN MINUTES, doing absolutely nothing- and I mean nothing. The bartender was leaning against the bar just chatting, not making anyone any drinks. In the meantime there were several people standing at the bar waiting to be served and being ignored. When I finally went up to the bar to ask if we could get some service the bartender interrupted and said if we didn't like it, we could get out. So we did. We won't be back, and neither will our friends.

Pros: Great place to go if you like being treated like dirt.

Cons: Being treated like dirt.

If you are in Denver and want to experience 70 or so taps from which to choose local, national and international craft beers (and many more bottles, particularly Belgians), then this is the place.\r\n\r\nIf you want a margarita, a Bud Light, or a pitcher of Coors (all of which are fine if that's what you want), do NOT come here. This place is catered to those who are Beer Advocates. They also serve halfway decent pub grub at a good value (great Bison burgers).\r\n\r\nIt is true, the service isn't always good, especially if the place is slammed, but if you are a local or try to order decent beers then you will probably be treated just fine. In fact i'm a regular and i'm treated very well, but i kinda had to work my way up to that.\r\n\r\nSome may not think that's right, but i think it was worth it because you can't get a better beer selection within 1000 miles of this place, and that is a true fact.\r\n\r\nCome to Falling Rock and try something you've never had before, your favorite type of beer may just be waiting for you there, even if you don't think you like beer!

I have been here a couple of times and recieved horrible service! Then I had to meet some friends there so I went in expecting horrible service, I was very surprised when before I even walked in the door the waitress managed to offend me even more! I have heard from other people in the industry that you just have to know someone there. I can accept that to be treated very well, you need to know someone, but its nice to go somewhere and at least be treated in a civil manner!

The first time I went in there was with a couple of my buddies. We had this waitress that is amazing. She was bringing me small taste beers to try before I decided on what I wanted to drink. After a couple of hours we left to aonther bar over in the area then headed back to the House. The waitress got us another table and brough us a couple of rounds on the house. We ended up closing the place around 3am and walked out with the workers. It was a few months before my friend and I went back but when we walked in our waitress the first time remembered us and hooked it up for us agian. Everyone there is starting to get to know me and my best friend. The man at the door always welcomes us with a hand shake and knows our name. The staff is so down to earth that it makes you feel so welcomed. I ended up at the Tap House a few times a month and everytime it gets better. I dont understand some of the negative reviews. One guy bitching about not getting wine. They are a TAP HOUSE not a winery that would be like going to a scotch bar and asking for Patron. If you are looking for a place to chill with some good friends and good people this is the place. You can actually hear each other when you talk and dont have to listen to lame music.

Food was decent but we were hugely dissapointed by our servers' brazenly rude behaviors. So muchso that it completely spoiled my experience and soured my impression of this place. I went in with a few people about a year ago and can relate to the last reviewer who said that his/her server just seemed annoyed to be waiting on them. We experienced the same thing with more than one staff member. We had a cocktailer take our drink order, and then a server took our food order, and both just seemed patently put-out by us. I'm not expecting all smiles with people falling all over us; I'm pretty easy-going as I've waited tables before and can understand stresses of the job, but these folks just had over-all bad attitudes. So after a particularly icy start with both servers, we get our drinks and place our food orders. One friend, who just got off of an 18 hour shift at Rose Medical, closes his eyes. Not leaning over, or slumped-over drooling on the table, not even resting his head on the side of the booth. Just sitting quitely, perfectly upright with his eyes closed while the rest of us talk. He fades in and out and chatting or about 10 min. The server greets us with two plates of food saying ""Hey, if he's passed out you gotta get him outta here!"" My friend opens his eyes as everyone at the table, fed up by the prior rudeness says, ""He's fine!"". With this, server literally drops the plates of food onto the table, and with no apology, just storms away. Never seen anything like it. If he had politely asked, ""hey is your buddy alright, cuz if not, we can't have people asleep in here and you'll have to leave"", it would have been one thing, but this guy was just over-the-top. I'd like to say that it was an isolated incident, but I've heard from others, including on this site, about rude behaviors from the staff here. I'll never know for sure, because sadly, I'll never go back. They just completely blew it.

Pros: location

After waiting 15 minutes for service in an empty bar, the wait staff person finally arrived and stated she was in a bad mood. OK great. it was a birthday party. Not what you want to hear. \r\n\r\nWe asked her for merlot and she said ""no merlot"". ""Ok""...we asked ""what do you have""? She said ""Red or white"".\r\nHonestly I thought this was a joke. This is a BAR....correct? Granted a beer bar, but a full service bar non the less.\r\n\r\nWhen the red wine arrived it was so sweet that is was hard to drink. A wine out of the box would have been better. Seriously. \r\nTrying to get her to take our food orders seemed like it was really putting her out, she would not write anything down & she seemed irritated that we wanted food. At this point we all just wanted OUT.\r\n\r\nSo between the worst service ever and painfully sweet wine, I won't be going back any time soon. We all moved down to the Celtic, where they seemed to actually want our business.

Pros: Outdoor patio.

Cons: Parking is expensive. Pitchers start at $14.00. Service BAD! No merlot in a BAR. Pricey.

The last time i visited the Falling Rock was in 2005, and havent forgotten about it since. It was in the late summer of '05 after Huricanne Katrina. The management, bartenders, and even the regular coustomers had that southern hospitality that i was looking for in a bar. Unfortanatly i could not stay in town for as long as i origanaly planed, and had to return to my native southern home of New Orleans. But as soon as i get back to denver this weekend ill trip right back into the falling rock, berring gifts of Louisiana local beers Dixie, Abita, ect to add to the extensive collection of beer bottles displayed along the walls. I recomend this bar to anyone looking for a cool place to chill. And if the Big Easy recomends it than it must be for real.

My fiance and I frequent many brew houses and pubs in Denver due to his love for ""elite beer"". I've been to Falling Rock several times. I have to say that although they do have an amazing selection of beer and OK food, the service has been consitantly AWFUL. Our waitress who we have had the last three times we went there was very rude and unaccomodating. She was not polite, pretty much threw our beer at us and spoke in one answer replies. A few weeks ago, we chalked it up to her having a bad night in a busy bar, and overtipped her at 50% to make a point. Tonight she was even worse, overcharged us actually. We did have a large party (it was actually a company gathering/holiday party, way to ruin a night!) and they would not give us seperate tabs, which is understandable, but when three different people added up the bill and each came up with the fact that we were overcharged about $15, we brought it to her attention. She said she would re-add it, coming back about 30 seconds later and said ""it's right"". We checked our math again and tried to leave the correct total in cash, she finally becomes animated and says ""no you can't leave until you pay OUR total"". And to top it off, when they won't do seperate tabs they add a huge gratuity, despite the crappy service which deserved no tip at all. I tried to get the manager to bring a calculator so we could show him their error, he said ""sure"" and never came back. So 20 minutes later we wanted to get out this horrible establishment, and ended up paying the over charge anyway. Unless you enjoy getting ripped off and having the worst service I've ever come across I would suggest avoiding this bar. There are plenty of other brew pubs and taverns in Denver with excellent service and excellent beer: find one!

I immediately loved this place because of the outfit. But there are several drawbacks.\r\nYes, there is a long list of Colorado and US beers - can't say anything bad about them. \r\nBut tried several european beers on tap there - almost all of them are too wattery. Probably old.\r\nYou may find a better Guinness in Denver. The same about German Pilsners.\r\nAnd yeah, what's with just one unisex restroom with a long lines to it?

Pros: Large beer list.

Cons: No good beers, one unisex restroom.

Every year we come from L.A. to Denver for the Great American Beer Festival. This is the place that we look forward to the most. For those that know, this is the place to be every night after the fest let's out. Great Beer selection and atmosphere. keep up the good work Chris!!

I have been a regular at the Falling Rock for years and have to say that I am always excited to go! The beers are great, the staff are personable and the band, Dysfunction Junction always puts on a good show. We danced until the lights came up! I don't know why they don't advertise when DJ is playing. Call ahead to find out.

I have been loyal to the Falling Rock Tap House for 3 years and the staff is still pretty much the same as when I first started going. This is absolutely unheard of for a bar in Denver! Any place that makes the employees so happy must be doing everything right. Plus, the beer selection is the best I have ever seen!

I have friends who only drink a certain brand of light beer. I've seen them turn down other light beers in an effort to find their brand. These friends of mine should stay across the street at the sports bars. Falling Rock has the most incredible selection of quality beers. Drinking here should earn a person a college credit due to all the knowledge about ales, lagers, and seasonal beers. Mmmmm, I had such a great time sampling all the incredible brews!!!

Bad food and bad service and they were out of most of the beers we asked for. Overall it was just a bad expeirence.\n\nStay away from it if you can! Go to Crocs or red fish for happy hour, much better deal and food.

The Tap House is one of Denver's best bars. It is never too crowded, always has classic rock cover bands and the beer selection is unreal. Behind the large bar is a wall filled with an insane amount of taps. This isn't your average, Bud, Bud Light deal either. The Tap House has Fat Tire, Easy Street Wheat, Guinness, the works. If you're looking for a chill scene with good beer and good tunes, there is nothing better than the Tap House.

Message from Falling Rock Tap House

The Falling Rock Tap House is a beer lover's paradise. With a revolving door of beers arranged by region and weight, The Tap House offers a selection paralleled by few other bars. But the libations are only half the fun. Check out the extensive menu of sandwiches, salads and sides.
