This is without a doubt our favorite ski resort. The halfpipe is awesome for the more daring. I love the shop and the green slopes. The hot tube at the hotels is perfect after a long day of skiing. Get your pass early and you can have access to a wide variety of slopes.

Breckenridge is a fun ski resort with some pretty good runs. It's more of a destination location, like Keystone, but unlike Keystone it's a much better and more challenging mountain. Breckenridge the town is neat with fun shops and restaurants.

Loved skiing here. The hotel we had was ski in/out so we were right on the lifts. The skiruns are long and you can ski a different route everyday. The lines were kind of long in the mid-day but that was okay. The free shuttle around the (small) town was cool. This is a good place for skiing and going drinking and hanging out afterwards. No fabulous restaurants and no movie theatre and most of the stores are ski shops in this small town so if you are looking for something to do but drink and hang out after a day of skiing, to me this is not the place. I saw everything on the first night in the town. But overall I had a good time. I would go back.

I'm from Michigan, where glorified landfills serve as our "mountains." I LOVED Breckenridge! Admittedly, I'm a beginner, so I didn't get to some of the more challenging slopes, but I loved their beginner hills. Just enough slope to have fun, and a bit of terrain variety. We went the weekend after Thanksgiving, and the lines on Saturday were terrible, but on Sunday and Monday there were great. The town is also tons of fun. Very easygoing, with tons of shops, restaurants, and bars. We didn't have to drive anywhere the whole time we were there.

I've stayed her on several occasions and thought of it as a decent resort. The best things about it are how close it is to Denver and that you can ski up to the resort after a day on the slopes. Rooms are basic/simple. The place pretty much shuts down in the non-winter months, which can be a pain as far as admentities, food, etc. I've found the staff to be okay, but not exceptional.

I learned to ski here and would ski my last run here if possible to plan that way as it is a fantastic lodge, town and slopes. Used to ban snowboarders which I liked, but is now open to both ski and boards with a huge snow board park.

We have always enjoyed coming to Breck. Family vacation at its finest. Affordable, and always something to do - even for non-skiiers. Always stay at High Country Lodge with lots of family and friends. The scenery is breathtaking. Prefer February or March skiing. There is a slope for everyone. Snowboarding is big for the younger ones, but the seniors are happy too.

I get annoyed at people who consistently dis Breck for its flats and less than thrilling vertical. I have lived here for 8 years and the mountain rocks - you just have to be good enough to access it. The new Imperial lift (opening 2005/2006) brings you to more adv. int./expert terrain only available before by hiking. If you are just a basic blue skier, Keystone offers longer runs. If you're up for the thrill, experience the top of Peaks 7 & 8.

Pros: Great Expert Terrain, #1 Terrain Parks, Always improving

Cons: Lines on weekends

.

Cannot believe that Breck is recommended. You'll get a great workout there, a good upper body workout that is - you'll spend half your time pushing across flat areas just to get back in the lift line.

Breckenridge is an Indian word that means "always windy". Add that to the crowds and enough said.

Pros: town

Lower level skiers will think it's great once they get past the crowds and long lift lines. Good intermediates and above should look elsewhere. The tremendous amount of long flat trails and ho hum skiing doesnt compensate for the runs that are worth skiing and then you have to get in line again. Breck has its place though, which is why it draws a lot of skier visits. Nice town but the building codes make it look more like an authentic CO town than it really is but thats OK too because the town lacks that Mall like character youll find at other resorts. O if you must but I would use Breck as a camp for the other resorts.

This is the third time my husband and I have visited. We enjoy bringing family and friends to experience the mountain, town and Vail. Coming from the Northeast the powder is great, considering we are used to ice. Skiing is perfect for beginners to advanced. We love to get lift tickets and use a day or two at Vail (only 45 minutes away) which has another 5K+ acres. However Vail's shopping and restaurants are not as great as Breckenridge. The quaint Victorian Breckenridge is our first choice for skiing in Colorado.

Pros: Great Skiing, Affordable/Cozy Town, Close to Other Resort

Great ski school for kids and adults. Tons of great instructors on hand and plenty of terrain/room - even on the busy Thanksgiving holiday weekend. If you're serious about learning - and not picking up bad habits that will haunt you later - check out the unlimited (group) lessons deal (good Thurs-Sun). If you're lucky, you may even be a group of one! Been up for two days of lessons so far and loved it. Jane and Larry (instructors) rock!

In your review you forgot to mention that Breckenridge was the pioneer in snowboarding and has the best terrain parks and half pipes in the country as rated by top boarders and freeskiers. You also mentioned that it had good eats, LOOK AROUND, Breckenridge has over a hundred restaurants from bar eateries to some of the finest dining anywhere. I am a chef and I have eaten in some of the best restaurants in the world and I have a hard time choosing because there are so many good places. Those who say Breckenridge is for intermediates, contact me and I bet I can take you places that will make you wish you were back on a blue run.

I have been skiing for years and Breck is one of my favorite place to bring friends who are first time skiers. They have a great ski school for kids and adults and even though the lines may be long you get through them very quickly. Great food throughout town and friendly, helpful people in the stores. My 5 year old daughter wants to give up the time we spend in Florida to spend more time in Breckenridge!!!!

Breckenridge gets a bad rap from the wrong people. The resort is huge and offers awesome terrain. The new Peak 7 has made this resort a competitor with Vail and Steamboat. Some of the best snowboarders in the world ride Breck everyday. So, you get a high caliber of riders carving turns on the mountain. The people are friendly and laid back and lodging is reasonable. Nightlife is probably the best in CO.

Definately better then Keystone and closer then the superior mountains of Vail, Beaver Creek or Steamboat. Does get pretty crowded on weekends and they don't seem to have a clue when it comes to crowd control. But all in all good.

I had the pleasure of growing up in Breckenridge and now that I am in college, I can't wait to go home and ski. There is something magical about Breckenridge and the way the town and people open up to you and welcome you in. The skiing is amazing and I would recommend staying on Peak 8 for the best terrain accesible via lifts. The T-Bar is a must for advanced skiiers - and if you're looking for an even bigger challenge, a hike to the top of Peak 10 (from 8) offers fresh powder and outstanding views of the town. Also, for all you snowboarders, our park is second to none and well worth a visit. I highly recommend coming to Breckenridge and I hope you see why I've fallen in love with my hometown.

So, there are a lot of negative reviews written by folks with really cool ski-related e-mail addrsses ("hey, look at me ... I'm a skier!"). Here's the scoop from a local ... if you can handle it, stay on E chair. Never a crowd. Why? Intimidating and challenging terrain (bumps, steeps, funky fall lines), or access the Windows. Also some great stuff on the north side of Peak 10. Or catch the Super 8 Expres at mid point. It's not Taos or Vail, but there's a good reason Breck is crowded. Unlike Taos, there's great nightlife. Unlike Vail, there's nothing ostentatious. Well, except fora few knuckleheads with really cool e-mail addresses who don't really know the mountain.

Breckenridge was pretty lame, yYou spend all of your time travelling between peaks. When the wind closes down the advanced lifts it is one big lame beginner hill. Anything under black pretty much sucks on this mountain but the peak 7 bowls are pretty cool...double diamond with no moguls but they got a lame T-bar to get to them...and you have got to WALK to get to half of em. The terrain park is very good but be warned...EVERY hit is MAJOR air and if you go off the side you end up on icy rocks. The half-pipe is the best I've ever skii'd, it has nice high walls with a hill to drop in from so you get air from the beginning. Overall...advanced skiiers/boarders will tire quickly of this mountain. Bring your helmet for the terrain park...and don't hurt yourself...

Skiing with my family was great. Great powdersnow, good slopes, nice town with good restaurants. Only setback was the freezing cold and windy lifts. For what they charge, one might expect a new gondola or two, bubbletops on the chairs. We usually go to a little village in Austria where such infrastructure has been standard for years, so why not in great Colorado ?

I was a ski instructor before I blew out my ACL. Since then I've been snowboarding, and now I teach that instead. Breck is a great mountain for riding and skiing, but it is not as user-friendly as it could be. Long lines, separate peaks, and lengthy flats (which are especially hard on snowboarders) detract from how great the mountain is for actual skiing. First-timers may also have a tough time since the teaching areas are small and crowded.

I think that this ski resort is one of the best places to get some major skiing time in, and is perfect for a family getaway. I thouroughly enjoyed this resort while I was there last year. I would most definitely highly recommend this ski resort to anyone. So if you're looking or a lot of major air time and a good place to get some weekend skiing in then this is the place for you.

Breckenridge is my favorite resort because of the great conditions and beautiful vistas. My favorite holiday memory is sitting in a warming hut at the top of the mountain on Christmas Eve.

We had skiied hard all day. As we sat inside the hut; the fire was burning, we were sipping hot chocolate, and huge snow flakes were falling outside the window, with the Rockies in the background. PRETTIEST THING I EVER SAW !

I am only 17 but I have been skiing at Breck for 15 years now so I know it pretty well. All these people saying that this is a beginner mountain and that there are no good technical runs. Well you don't know what you're talking about. On peak 10 there is the south side which has some of the best terrain if you go in the morning before it gets all icy. Then on peak 9 there is E-chair. You can find the doors and the windows here. Finally on peak 7 and 8 are some of the best bowl skiing you will ever experience and if you are actually a good skier not someone pretending to be then you should hike over to the Lake Chutes. They are the steepest chutes in Colorado that are inbounds.
