Sierra Vista Health Care Ctr

I am a New CNA and I was hired at sierra vista. I was plesently suprised by the facility. Coming out of school I have been taught to go strickly by the book. I feel that for the age of the facility and funding it is well orginized and full of people with love to give. The rule there is simple TREAT THE RESIDENTS AND THEIR FAMILY LIKE YOU WOULD WANT TO BE TREATED! I really enjoy working there.

My husband was a resident of Sierra Vista, for several months.
I was able to bring him home, due to the love and care of each
and every individual at Sierra Vista he has made it through a very
difficult time in his life. Their patience and understanding, not
only with him, but myself as his spouse. They always took time
to make sure that my questions were answered and his needs were
met. Any concerns were immediately addressed, over and beyond
the call of duty.

It was difficult to trust someone else to take care of him, but
the staff quickly removed any fears that I may have had.

I thank each and everyone of the staff members.

The first problem i can see is that they must be very short on staff because when i call the phone will ring about 20 times and then a recording will cut in and say this is not a working number and i normally have to call back 5 to 6 times following this same procedure before anyone answers. I would say that half the time they are unable to get my sister to the phone because they can't locate her. i would not recommend this establishment to anyone. She says she does not get the treatments she is supposed to get. We have had to hire a private nurse at $80.00 and hr just to go in and check on her to make sure she is being cared for, and those reports we get back from her are not favorable either.

My grandmother is living at this facility and so far it seems really nice considering that it is a Medicaid facility. I know some of the facilities that you pay for are probably nicer but this facility is really great. It is always clean and the staff is always really nice and patient with the residents even though it seems they are understaffed. They always have things for the residents to do, they have a small beauty salon on site and a nice outside are for residents to sit outside. It would be nice if there were more staff to have more one-on-one attention but i guess for a state run facility you can't really expect that.

PROS: friendly staff, nice facility
CONS: somewhat understaffed
