RS did an awersome remodel job and the bar is beautiful. The crowd was upscale, educated, and friendly. Great music fit the atmosphere with downtempo beats.

This was really a great experience and my crowd will return for sure.

This has been the last savior to a downtown that seems to have turned to ghetto rap and a trashy crowds.

Pros: Enviroment, Music, drink prices

Cons: Not enough bar staff

Four of us dined here based on reviews. I can't beleive it's the same restaraunt. We were seated 1 hour after our reservation time. Three out of four sent their steaks back. (the Red Sqaure Bistro version of Strohganoff).\r
They were so tough they could not be cut with a knife. Some of the worst I have ever had. They took the steaks off the bill only after the manager came over and queeried us on what our problem was. He offered one excuse after another. Will never return and I give this place my highest...... THUMBS DOWN!

Pros: Liked the interior

Cons: Small Portions

The maitre d ' was exceptionally gracious and hospitable. For appetizers: Pelmeni and garlic vodka. Delicious. Then more vodka - red pepper (spicy!), dill, and horseradish (oof!). Our entrees (beef and fish) were perfectly cooked, with the only negative being very stringy leeks with the fish. The sauces were full of flavor but not overly salty, as some other reviewers have found. For dessert, the banana crepe was very tasty. Not the best cup of coffee I've ever had, but not awful. The service was attentive, friendly, and helpful. Definitely place I'll come back to.

Cons: turns into a night club type place after 10pm

I've been to red square numerous times and I thought it finally time to write a view. The food here is phenomenal and its almost a diamond in the rough with every place there is to go in Denver. They have daily dinner specials and that absolutely rock in price, presentation, and taste. Try their charcuterie plate. Now this is one of the few places that infuses their own vodkas in house weekly, not to mention they have some of the best ones i've had. Try their grapefruit and horseradish, its incredible. Max is one amazing bartender and really knows his vodka and service. The weekends are pretty insane there but how can it now be, apparently everyone is catching on. If you want great food, excellent vodka, and a very upbeat crowd then look no further. Welcome to the Square.

Pros: One of the best bars in Denver

Cons: Weekends, but you can't win them all.

Unlike the pretentious tone of some downtown restaurants - The Red Square is refreshing and warm with great atmosphere and attentive staff. Complement this with its delightfully delicious menu served with crusty traditional European bread and you have a fabulous Denver resto tucked into a cozy corner of Writers Square. Our friendly waiter and host made us feel like we were family with excellent service. Once you're there, try some infused vodka before your meal. I like mine served straight up as a martini. Fig infused vodka, although it sounds a bit strange, is flavorful and delicious. You'll feel you've taken a trip back to your favorite European city...Actually, my boyfriend and I will be taking another trip to Russia very soon and it's only a couple blocks away...

I have wondered if these people are trying to run a business and for whom does it work. There was a bartender with salt and pepper hair who seemed to have some pride in what he did who made the place enjoyable. The food was also better then, maybe he cooked as well. Since then the staff seems to be concerned with cigarette breaks, frowning, little effort, and watching the time go by. I like the decor except the 6 month bathroom remodel, and the vodka, but at this point in the economy go where someone wants you, and has good food as well. These folks should disband - the frowns and lethargy may be contagious.

The food is good, the atmosphere is good, but the vodka and inexpensive bottle prices are the main reason to hang out here. Located in the middle of Writer's Square, Red Square is a nice place to enjoy some vodka served by people who know how to serve it best.

I hate this place. The owner is totally rude. (he has been rude to me multiple times when I have come in there) The food is mediocre at best. The vodka, which is supposed to be the main focus of the restraunt, is something you could buy on the corner liquor store. I have tried it over and over and I am giving up. Just go somewhere else, Denver has to many great restraunts to waste your time on this place.

We started frequenting the Little Russian Cafe and migrated over to Red Square when it opened. We absolutely love the staff, the ambiance, the food&the vodka. We have never experienced the kind of personal attention and wonderful service as we get every time we go in here. We keep introducing new people and everyone we take in loves the place. We have NEVER had a bad meal and have tried just about everything on the menu. Anyone who has given this place a bad review needs to go elsewhere and make room for those who love this place as much as we do!

Pros: Variety of Vodka, Excellent menu, Superb service

Cons: Occupancy is limited and bar gets noisy

There are many different options for vodka here. Flavors I would never have dreamt of, garlic, etc. It's interesting and fun to try the different options. The food is very European but heavy (big German influence). It's a place you go once but not someplace that is on my list to return.

My boyfriend and I love this place. We have been there three years in a row for Valentine's Day. The menu is a bit small, but we haven't had a bad dish yet. The steak stroganoff sounds like a weird idea, but trust me- it is fantastic. In addition, the service is always good. \r
\r
On a side note, I have found coupons for this place (pay $50 for a $100 coupon) so search the internet to find them as they are worth it!

I chose this place because it looked interesting, but the service was so bad I didn't stick around One thing that really bugged me about it was I had to ask for more vodka and the bartender acted like he was doing me a favor by serving me. When I got up to use the restroom I came back to my seat at the bar and the bartender had piled up dirty glasses and dishes in front of my stool and made no effort to move these as I sat back down, so I drank my vodka quickly and left. I headed over to 1515 on Market and was treated like a king there. Too bad I really like the horseradish infused vodka but I doubt I'll go back, the service was so bad I didn't bother to try the food. After reading all the bad reviews here it doesn't sound like I missed anything.

The Red Square is a classy little ""Euro bistro"" tucked away in the corner of Writer's Square. All of their vodka infusions, especially the pineapple, are delicious!! They look and taste innocent but pack a p unch- they don't kick in right away, so watch out or you'll be stumbling home. These shots are best sipped, not shot! The setting is intimate and the crowd is relaxed and friendly. The Red Square is a gem!

Dined here for restaurant week. The selections look fabulous on the menu.\r
I agree with a previous reviewing, the front Desk fella was indeed less than friendly. Our waitress was adequate. We went with wine instead of vodka and the glasses were small. I chose the seared scallops and the centers were cold. My co-diner went with the mushroom and onion soup and you could actually see the grease. We decided to each get a different entree and split them. She did the NY strip, I did the salmon. The steak was overcooked and chewy, the salmon was ok, but whatever sauce was on it smelled BAD. The berry desert was tasty. All in the food left every much to be desired. I might go back for the flavor infused vodka, but probably would just go to Purple Martini if I was over in that direction of town. I?d save your money and find some place else to eat.\r

Pros: Very cute location, ambiance was great

Cons: food was sub-par

.

We were disappointed. The menu had some interesting plusses - the borscht was very good and the lemon tart for dessert was okay (almost too tart). The main entrees were both over salted and over sauced, not to mention that I ordered duck and received chicken, and it was left on the bill. It's a cute atmosphere though,&the waiter was very nice in spite of the screw up, but overall it just fell short of expectations.

Pros: jazz music, some neat traditional Russion dishes

Cons: use of salt in the food - overkill

My boyfriend and I where out on a date night and decided to try something new. We had read good things about The Red Square. The atmosphere was cozy and the service was friendly. The servers where celebrating Russian Halloween as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. \r
I love the idea of individual carafes of vodka from around the world, and our server was fairley knowledgeable and helpful when itcame to makeing a selection. The vodka was very good.\r
We ordered the cheese selection, which did not come with enough bread for the cheese portion. I found that the entrees where equally as disapointing. The Strogonough was gloppy and overwelming when paired with the steak, and the sea bass was salty. The swiss chard felt tough and overwhelmed the flavor of the dish.\r
Fotunatly enough the prices where reasonable., so I only left with a bad tast in my mouth and not a hole in my pocket.\r

I was introduced to it last fall by my boyfriend. Depending on which side of the restaurant you choose to sit, you get a completely different experience. The left barside is a lively vodka bar and on the right side dining area you experience a small Russian bistro. I love the salmon stroganoff, the mustard based salad dressing, and the wonderful bread. Oh, the vodka selection is amazing when you are in the mood for a good vodka shot or an entire carafe of vodka to share. I really love the Red Square, is is delicious, romantic, and lively.

My husband and I just moved to LoDo, and were anxious to try Red Square, as we walk by it all the time. So we made a reservation, and as soon as we walked in the door, we knew we had discovered a special place. The staff was courteous and professional without being stuffy, and they were all smiling and happy--a sign of a good restaurant in my book. We had heard about the house-made flavored vodkas, so we started our meal with shots of raspberry vodka: delicious! As for the food, for appetizers I had the goat cheese and tomato salad, the perfect combination of fresh tomato and warm, comforting goat cheese drizzled with balsamic dressing. My husband had the scallops, which were seared to perfection and came with artichoke hearts and crispy garlic. We had a tough time deciding on our entrees, as everything on the menu looked good. I finally chose the salmon, and my husband went for the duck. Our waiter helped us pick out a great bottle of wine to go with our meal. My salmon was fabulous, and my husband enjoyed his duck, although it was bit rich and heavy for the hot summer weather. We were too full to order dessert, but the table next to us had a lemon tart that looked amazing--we can't wait to go back and try it! The only negative thing we experienced was that toward the end of our meal, the bar started to get quite full and noisy--it was a Friday night, after all, but if we had made our reservation for earlier, that wouldn't have been a problem. Overall, we had a great meal with great wine, and didn't cringe when the bill came; everything was very reasonably priced. We will definitely go again!

My wife and I are new to the city. Many people recommended the food of the place and everytime we walked by it had a crowd. They seated us in the patio and brought old, hard bread. We ordered wine by the glass. It was very vinegary, couldn't finish it. And finally, the steak stroganoff (supposedly a specialty of the house). The cut was not good. Full of fat and very hard. Bad experience. We are not going back ever again

A group of friends and I went to this resturant for a birthday dinner, and manged to have th whole restuarant to ourselves. The food was fantastic, service was great and the wait staff was very helpful. Now we have visited this resturant prior to this and the service was good then as well. I recommend the Red Square Strognoff which is a great twist to what you expect strogonoff to be. A nice NY strip steak with a mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes. The ambience in the restuarant is wonderful as well its romantic, not loud at all and a perfect setting for a date. I recommend the pineapple vodka it has a suprisingly wonderful taste at the end of a great dinner.

My wife wanted to try Red Euro during Denver Restaurant Week, so we made a reservation and went there with great anticipation. The restaurant was full, bustling with people and overall ambience of the place was nice. We were promptly seated and the waiter took our drink order first and brought out some bread. The sourdough he brought out looked and tasted like it's been sitting out for days. Even putting butter all over it didn't make it better. They had set menus for Restaurant Week so my wife ordered the Seared Sea Scallops, leeks, tomatoes, truffle-brown butter vinaigrette and I ordered the Potato leek soup, bacon, sourdough crouton. Scallops were decent, but the soup wasn't even lukewarm. I had to put lots of pepper in my soup to taste anything. For entree, she had the Sauteed Salmon filet, Dungeness crab salad, zucchini, yellow peppers, roasted tomato sauce and I went for the Grilled N.Y. Strip, roasted fingerling potatoes, green beans, bleu cheese jus. Presentation of the dishes weren't bad, but we were utterly disappointed with the taste. Perhaps we are not accustomed to authentic French/Russian cuisines, but the sauces for both dishes were bland and made me want to ask for some A-1 sauce and horse radish. Evening ended with sub-par desserts and I had to have them credit my very FLAT diet coke refill which was apparently not free. Well, I had asked another waitress if they gave refills and she said yes and brought it to me. But when we looked at the final bill, they had charged us for it. Our waiter was good about taking it off, but we were disappointed and left the restaurant after finishing only half of our entree. Perhaps we should have taken couple shots of vodka before we began our dining experience there.

We tried out the Red Square based on the reviews I had read here. Unfortunately everything was off the mark. \r
The service was slow, the food took FOREVER to arrive and when it did it was not worth the wait. We ordered two dishes. The first dish was inedible. Roast pork loin wrapped in prosciutto with fingerling potatoes, haricot beans and a fig reduction. The pork was so over cooked that the prosciutto was jerky. The pork was bone dry and flavorless. The fig reduction was a salty brown sauce with out a hint of fig and the beans and potatoes were flavorless as well. There was nothing on the plate that was even mediocre.\r
The second dish was the Stroganoff. Basically it was a steak and mashed potatoes with stroganoff sauce. It was good, it was not $20.00 good. We did not stay around for dessert.\r
As for the ambiance, I didn?t find it particularly romantic other than the red walls and it was freezing inside. The one positive was the fig infused vodka, it was delicious. \r

Cons: everything else

Loved the decor! Romantic and very warm, but not in a frumpy way. It has a cosmopolitan feel. Excellent service but somewhat laidback. I like to be checked on again and again, but not interrupted in the middle of a conversation. I think its an art for a waitperson to be able to check a table but not become a part of the intimacy.\r
\r
The food was unique. Dont go expecting your babushkas borscht. I had Stroganoff which was a small portion but the quality was there. If you are looking for monster portions, go to the Cheesecake Factory. Writers Square is the little plaza where Red Square is located. This is definitely a romantic place Id recommend for a date, it would also work for a special business client.

This is definitely a romantic place Id recommend for a date, it would also work for a special business client.

Pros: Ambiance and unique food

Cons: Very rich dishes. Don't go if you are dieting.

We were anxious to try Red Square as we had seen all of the positive reviews. However, we were highly disappointed with our visit. We had reservations and were seated promptly though it was back in a corner which made us feel as if we were in time out. The waiter was prompt at first but simply forgot us the rest of the evening. He failed to fill our water so we were left to eat without any drinks. The workers didn't seem to care about whether or not we were there. On to the food...I ordered the stroganoff as it seemed to get good reviews. I was disappointed to see it was a steak over mashed potatoes in a not so hot mushroom gravy. The steak was tough and blah. My wife had the rrack of lamb which came in a liquid that was supposed to be a ""reduced fig sauce"". With it came a side of mushy chopped up vegetables. Overall, a very bad experience and we will not go back.

I keep going back to this place at lease once a month. The servers are always personable even when the place is packed. Friday special is alway a lobster roasted in garlic butter, and it is excellent. The vodka list is huge, so ask your server for reccomendation, they will not steer you in the wrong direction. Overall it is a fun and very reasonably priced restaurant, the above mentioned lobster is only $28. Thumbs up for red square.

Pros: Vodka, Service, Lobster on fridays

Cons: None in my book

we (couple) were seated at table for two in small room next to large party 15 obnoxious loud people. blaring dance music over poor speakers that screamed the cymbals and nothing else. no wine list offered. appetizers so salty, food taste not found. beef (strogonoff) served raw center (ordered medium). it came back from kitchen rare medium. sent it back again. they got mad at me it came back well done ruined. we left - i without dinner. companion's serving was small portion of salmon in too salty! sauce. i don't know what the cook was thinking but it couldn't have been dining, maybe the focus is on the vodka, which was average, served medium cool with medium cool pickle. don't be fooled by the nice web site they have, this is not a romantic spot nor a place for fine dining. go elsewhere

Pros: if you like red

Cons: boisterous, salty dining, get a new kitchen

I absolutly love the Red Square Euro Bistro, I was a number one fan of the Russian Cafe and the Little Russian Cafe, but theis is just as great. I am so glad to have gone, the waiter makes you feel as if you have trully stepped into the Red Square yourself and are being seated by true Russian gentleman. It was trully an experience that I will never forget.
Cïacèáo, (ask the waiter what it means)

Pros: Enchanting waiter, Charming , Great date location

.

I thought with it's high rating it should be good. The food was okay and the service wasn't that good. The man kept forgetting to give us stuff like straws etc. If you go there, I recommend the Russian soup, pelmeni, and chicken in a lemon sauce. Also, the dishes come in small amounts. A dinner for four is about $100.

First, you'll find that the bar at Red Square offers some of the best deals in town. They have an assortment of house infused vodkas for $3 a shot as well as over 50 vodkas (including premium items like Stoli Elit and Ultimat). I've been starting my nights out there for quite some time. The bartenders will always comp you after a few rounds and I've never had a bartab where I've been charged full-price.
The food is also terrific. It's got an obvious American influence, but the food does have a semi-authentic flair with the dill and cream touches on more familiar dishes. Appetizers are also very tasty. All drinks come with fresh pickles, so even if you're just drinking you get a nice snack to keep your stomach happy.
Service is wonderful for both the bar and restaurant.
Red Square is top notch in every way!

Since I am Russian myself, I can not really tell you much about how the food is, since I eat it almost every day. But I am sure for people who never tried it before will definitely be an experience like it or not.
There bar is great, the variety of vodka amazing, service is excellent, atmosphere is relaxing.

Wonderful service! You feel like they actually enjoy having you there. That is the way it's suposed to be! The food is delux! Perfect for a business meeting or a date.
The Ambience is high class Russian decor. You almost feel like you are in a foreign country while dinning here. Maybe it's the real vanillia flavored vodka.

Remember you can catch a cab or an RTD home if you over do the fermented potatos!

Cons: Hidden away, Not advertised much

With spaciously arranged tables draped in white linen, and a fireplace to add warmth to a room already bathed in Red, Red Square is a romantic and classy establishment. My boyfriend still craves the beef stroganoff, with creamy potatoes, savory mushroom sauce and a juicy steak. I had the monkfish, which was perfectly succulent: not a touch over-cooked. The only complaint is that the appetizers lack the same care in seasoning as the entrees and are missing the pizazz needed to whet the appetite. Try the infused vodkas: honey, pepper and surprisingly, garlic, are very nice.

Red Square was nearly perfect, but there were a few things that took away from the experience. The atmosphere is wonderful, but there was nowhere to put our coats so they hung on the backs of our chairs. My cosmo was fantastic, but the glass was cracked. The stroganoff was delicious but overcooked. Red Square has all the right elements of a good restaurant but needs that added touch to make it truly great.

Red Square is a unique and wonderful restaurant. When the weather is nice the patio is the spot to be - you do not feel like you are in downtown Denver! The food has been excellent each time and the flavored vodka is great! The fish is always extremly fresh and the beef stroganoff is the best!! Red Square is an experience you should not miss out on!!

It was my husband's birthday and we had just moved out to Denver - not knowing where to go, I checked out City Search. This restaurant was rated really well and ""cheap"". We arrived earlier than our reservation and found that you didn't really need one. The inside was painted deep red with white trim and every table was elegantly set. We were greeted by a charming russian waiter and he offered us wine suggestions to complement what we wanted to eat. Since it was my husband's birthday, we were given a shot of any vodka on the menu. It was a great experience and one I will highly recommend to my friends.

Excellent food. Great Vodka selection. The service was not very attentive, but the atmosphere and food more than made up for it. We sat outside and enjoyed a quiet meal in the heart of a bustling city. The Red Square ""Stroganoff"" was the best I have ever had and the stuffed pork chop with apple was also exceptional. For dessert we tried their mocha glazed torte. It was delicious. Very rich, so we shared it.

We chose to take our visiting family to RED SQUARE for a farewell feast. After all of the wonderful reviews we had read, we were confident in our choice--what a mistake! The waiter could have cared less about being there. As we began, three of the five entrees that we attempted to order were not available, and the waiter tapped his foot and rolled his eyes while our 80 year old grandma scanned the menu to pick another item. The food was average at best, our drinks were not re-filled (water or alcohol), and they forgot to bring us desert. The worst part was that I e-mailed them the next day, and did not even receive a response.

Having lived in Russia, I have to say that this restaurant is IT. The food is true to Russian tradition but with a modern twist. The vodka is good but try the Baltika 4 beer! The staff offers true Russian hospitality. Only problem, the place is NOISY, but don't let that stop you from ordering dessert.

I have visited here twice and both times the food and the service were superior. The wait staff gives you a beautiful example of traditional Russian hospitality and the food is purely decadent.

He too would have found his favorite dishes transmuted from the ordinary to the extraordinary. After many meals, I can honestly say I haven't had anything less than excellent. The warm staff for the former Little Russian Cafe has infused this chic new location with warmth, humor, and the same cool vibe that the former location had. Whether you are dining solo, or want to impress a date, you can find it all here. Bravo Steve!

As a former patron of the Russian Cafe, I was hoping nothing had changed since the restaurant relocated. But to my surprise, it had actually improved! The menu and food presentation are now much more interesting, while the flavored vodkas are as tasty as ever. We started with the excellent mushroom dumpling appetizer and follwed that with the outstanding stroganoff and salmon in a pumpkin sauce. For dessert you can't go wrong with the rum baba. This place is a ""must try""!

Dined at the Red Square on 10/14/03. First time diner of the Red Square and thought the atmosphere, food and service was excellent. Had the Yazyck for an appetizer and Farshirovanaya Kuritsa for dinner. Both were exceptionally tasty and served well. Was nice to find a place off a main road and not overlooking traffic. Quiet and romantic location! Looking forward to dining at the Red Square again and trying some different vodka shots!

As an Italian used to good food and a nice ambience, I am always quite difficult about restaurants. Last week I was travelling to Denver for business and stumbled on the Red Square. It was a blast! I enjoyed the food very much, found the staff really friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere relaxing. Highly reccomended! I look forward to being back in Denver and back to this place. Thank you for making my evening!

Had a friend in from San Fran the restaurant capital of the world who wanted something good but different. It took a while to think of a restaurant that is not a chain in denver&then it dawned on me . . Red Square Euro Bistro! The service was GREAT! As soon as we walked in they were giving us samples of their delicious frozen vodkas. Then we were given a quiet table where we ordered side dishes&appetizers. Loved the asparagus, feta cheese&tomato tarte&the potato latke. I strongly suggest the stroganoff - DELICIOUS&try to save room for dessert - the bread pudding is a favorite!
