I'm from NYC, and when I moved here, oh I missed the food so much! I was so glad to find Lao Wang's. Their Xiao Long Bao (Chinese soup dumplings) are Taiwanese style, and they taste a bit different than the ones I had in NY, which were Shanghai nese style. But they are still very good! The way to eat them is to pop a little hole on the top and blow into the dumpling so you won't burn yourself when you eat them. Then, stick the entire dumpling in your mouth and let it pop in your mouth!
I've tried everything on their menu and they're all good. No complaints at all! Other dishes you MUST try are... the potstickers of course, the cold noodles with chicken (its made with a peanut sauce), the wontons and noodles (their wontons don't have shrimp in them and thats the way I like it!), and absolutely try the dumplings in chili (this is my favorite dish of theirs, it's in a brothy chili soup, but its not tooo hot).

We were going to go to J's Noodles next door, but changed our mind at the last minute, as we've always wanted to try this place. We're so glad we did! I haven't been able to find five-spice beef in Denver that tasted as good as this since I lived in LA, where I grew up. The potstickers really are the best in town. The meat is perfectly spiced and I believe they're hand wrapped. So good! We haven't tried the Shanghai dumplings yet, but will next time we're there. Also, the portions are HUGE. If I order the dumplings ($6), they have to be shared or I can't eat anything else, b/c there are 10 per order. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the owners are really nice. The only thing is that it's dirty. The walls haven't been cleaned in ages, nor have the condiments on the table. When we go in, we just make a concerted effort to avert our eyes from the walls and pick up the soy and vinegar bottles with napkins.

Not a huge place, so it can be packed at times. This place has friendly service and fantastic food. The owners/operators of this authentic Taiwanese restaurant create addicting foods such as soup dumplings, potstickers and their traditional beef noodle soup. Give this place a try, it absolutely rocks!
