I would agree with the first review on this page about the state of most mega churches in this country including Timberline. My family and I recently stopped attending Timberline after 7 years of being involved in various ministries. This was not an easy decision as it was almost like leaving family behind. But for the sake of the true gospel and our children we decided it was better to part ways. Sadly Timberline like so many other churches are doing these days have decided to follow the path of ecumenism. Rick Warren is a house hold name now at timberline and the seeker sensitive church model has been fully adopted by the leadership. The lack of true discernment has become appalling as they have now joined up with Young Life. If you do a little investigation into this organization you will find they support social justice and bringing together the Church of Rome and Evangelicals. Lest we forget the over 50 million martyred for the cause of sola scriptura during the dark ages by the Papacy. Social Justice is a term coined by the Jesuit Order meaning simply socialism. Don't believe me? Look it up on wickopedia. If you want to feel good about your sin Timberline is a great place to hang out drink coffee and mingle but if you want to truly be Holy (meaning separate) then I would suggest looking else where. The harsh reality that I have learned by carefully studying scripture is becoming a Christian is not an easy feel good lifestyle. It is a daily struggle against the flesh and the traps and snares of this world. It is an constant awareness of our fallen sinful nature and the great love and grace of our Creator. If you think I am wrong that is fine. But do yourself a favor and prove me wrong with scripture. I beg of you to turn off the t.v. pick up your bible (preferably a King James) and find out if you are following the true Jesus of the bible or the false Jesus of this world. Jesus commanded us to earnestly contend for the faith and to go out and make disciples of all the nations. To proclaim the truth that All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. Except one... that one being Jesus. We cannot change the world through good works or good deeds only through preaching the Gospel can we change a mans heart to Christ. I pray that you will search for the truth as I have and have an adventure along the way a leap of faith as it were and find as I did if you really want truth it will always lead you to Christ. God bless and God speed to all those that love the Lord.

The sad reality of this review is that the state of many attending church today is a desire for casual pampering without facing the harsh truths contained in the bible. The response I expected to hear against this critisism isn't the warm caring environment of TL, which may be true and good, but the overwhelming gratitude and joy of God's people for the graphically horrifying suffering of Jesus on the Cross. Love does not cover up truth by pampering people's emotional fragility, it clearly demonstrates joy unspeakable in God's infinite purity and the friendship and peace we obtain ONLY through the brutal torture, bloody murder, and victorious ressurection of Jesus Christ. The trama of hearing such a story as a young child is a wonderful opportunity for you as a parent to teach your child about God's Holiness, the seriousness of sin, and the never ending inexpressible joy of knowing God's tender mercies as sinners worthy of nothing but God's wrath. If you wish to protect your children from the majesty of God's forgiveness at Calvary then feel free to water down the torture and suffering of the cross. If however you value their eternal souls, I see God giving you an opportunity to powerfully present the gospel to your child.

We were very upset at the Sunday School program for elementary children last Easter. tI consisted of horror stories about the Stations of the Cross. including some fabrications, like the Romans nailed 4 inch thorns into Jesus head as the Crown of Thorns. We will NEVER go back. This church seems to deal with fear mongering.

I have attended Timberline Church since March 1990. I chose Timberline from several other churches due to its family atmosphere and focus on 'Let Love Live'. The church has grown from 200 in 1990 to more than 5000 today. There must be a reason; people feel God??s Love there. Timberline has 2 services on Saturday and 3 on Sunday morning... All this while still maintaining a warm environment. Small friendly ??home Bible studies?? are cultured to help people feel the friendly surroundings of a smaller church.
Not that the ??accusations?? of Steve need to be addressed. But the books are covered annually in the members only church business meeting. I have known the Business Administrator personally for 15 years and know there are no concerns of misappropriation. It is easy to point fingers at something you don??t understand.
God is at work in this church and it is evident in all they are doing not only in the people that walk through the doors every week, but around the world. This work is also around the world including the most recent project in India to fight child slavery and prostitution.
You want an opportunity to let God work in your life? Timberline can help you find a door to explore. There are even occasions to travel to remote countries to build homes and churches for furthering God??s word and love.
You want God to work in your life, the best way is to try working for Him. I highly recommend Timberline as your Church home. There are settings of worship from 5-10 people to services of 300-1500 people. Service formats range from the conventional to the ??up tempo??. There are even very well organized programs for children. All three of my teenagers have been involved in the intense training and preparation that was required to present child oriented programs; designed to teach children and raise them in God??s will.
Give Timberline Church a try. God did not tell us that we would always be perfect. He just instructed us to try to live that way. The best way to do this is to find a place where God can talk to your heart. If you are looking for ??issues?? you will probably find them. After all, a place with issues is the best place to see God doing His work. You just don??t want to be controlled by those issues. If you have issues in your life, God wants to be there for you; and I feel the people at Timberline (both the staff and people like myself) would like to share God??s Love with you too. Asking God to be in your life is the best way to remove ??your issues??.

Jesus may be Lord at Timberline Church, but Dary Northrup and those he favors are the greatest individual financial beneficiaries of that franchise. Dary Northrop assures the congregation continuously that Timberline's leadership is accountable and sober. But, ask to look at the books and the inquiry will be treated like sin on Sunday. Dary Northrop, and his friend Jeff Lucas, live lavishly like few of those who attend Timberline each week. Jesus loves you Dary. He also loves you to show us your compensation and expense package. And, while your at it, show the corporation's provisions for distribution of its assets upon dissolution. Toto, where are you?

I have attended Timberline Church for almost 2 years and have come to know it as family. The church is large (6,000 per weekend) but you always feel like family there. Highly recommended for the new believer or those who have a heart for ministry service!! The Wednesday night services with Rob Cowles will put your heart and your walk with Christ on the right track. A must attend service!!

PROS: Mega Heart!

I was refused assistance for my shutoff notice because I was not a member of this church and that they only help their members with monetary needs. Why advertise that they help when they really don't. Wonder what they tell their members
