"PupGal"'s review couldn't be farther from the truth. In fact, her review sounds so little like the school that I have come to know and love over the last four years that I almost wonder whether it was mistakenly posted for this school. Montessori School of Evergreen places a high value on creativity and self-motivation. There is nothing repetitive about the curriculum -- in fact, one of the school's great strengths is that the curriculum is individualized to fit each child. This insures that the children are always challenged and engaged in their work. My children have been to a couple different schools and none of them has held a candle to the phenomenal education they are receiving at MSE!

Tedious, repetitive, unchallenging drills resulting in mind numbing boredom. Zero room for creativity. Testing, grades, micromanagement of students' time. Time spent on pursuits of very questionable value for children of the "information age"-- Ex. "in your very best cursive handwriting?" Is this really the Montessori philosophy? Are these students being allowed to think for themselves beyond the prescribed curriculum designed, in my opinion, to keep their parents impressed and feeling secure. For $10,000+?

My daughter has been at the Montessori School of Evergreen for 6 years now and we think it is a fabulous school. There are wonderful materials that make learning very hands-on and truly inspired teachers. However, the school experience goes well beyond academics. My daughter has learned to take responsibility for her academic progress and to love learning for the sake of learning. In kindergarten, she began each day be making her own "work plan" of what she was going to accomplish that day. Now that she's older, she continues to plan her work to achieve certain milestones she and her teachers have set. She is highly motivated and loves school. She has also learned how to resolve conflicts with her peers and to mentor younger students. Montessori School of Evergreen is teaching her how to be a responsible, successful lifelong learner.
