This place does NOT have the best steak in Denver, but it is a good restaurant that's worth checking out. It's the ambience, the service, and the room that really has that 50's Vegas vibe, and it elevates the experience. Don't get me wrong, the steaks are very good, but perhaps not at the level of Brooks or Ruth's Chris. But they come cheaper at Bastien's, especially when they're having their t-bone special. Really worth a visit.

Dont believe the hype. Eairler this week I went to bastiens. The place was dirty. The waiting staff was poor. The steak "The famed sugar steak" was the worst that I have had in a while. But worst of all was the price. I have eaten at $1.99 steak and eggs in vegas that had better steaks. Bastiens wanted 20 dollars for their steaks. They had the right idea about the sugar steak they just dont know how to cook it. Open flamed to burn the sugar onto the steak. They need to torch the sugar onto the steak. Just enough to carmalize it. A open flame is not hot anough. You lose half the sugar to gravity right into the flames.

Cons: burnt steak, over priced, sides sucked

I'm a native Denverite. Bastien's has been around forever, but we finally tried it last summer. Great steaks and service. Nice to still be able to eat at an old-line DENVER steakhouse. Most are gone now.

Went to Bastien's on New Years Eve. We sat at the bar since they were very busy and we forgot tom make reservations(sham on us). The bartender, Eric, made us feel right a home. We had a teaser platter to start, enough assorted appitizers for 3 or 4 people. 1 LB of crab legs and a 12 oz New York strip steak hepl us bring in the New Year the right way. Be sure to put this place on your to dine at list for 2003.

I am so glad we happened uppon Bastien's this past Monday. the place is decorated so nicely for the holidays with snowmen and snowflake and even a little christmas tree on each table. I had the chicken fried chicken with a velvetly smooth cream gravy, we slso had a 16oz perfectly done sugar steak. desseerts are home=made and worth the extra cals. we were also delighted to find out the whole dinning section of the restaurant is non-smoking. You can light up in the bar if you want. We will tell all our friends about this real find. Hat's off to Bastiens for beating the city to the punch.

The place is not fancy by any means, but very homey and friendly. We started with house breaded mushrooms and steak tid bits. the mushrooms arrived steaming hot and very plump and flavorful& the steak tid bits, small bite sizes pices of steak cooked with a tang sauce. For dinner I ordered the Trout ala Bastien and my friend had that nights special 16 oz T-bone steak. I am a trout fan and could not beleive the size of this wonderful filet which came topped with sauteed tomatoes and shrimp. The T-bone came out cooked perfectly med-rare with a hint of garlic and pepper. Both meals came with your choice of soup or salad. The salad was nicly dressed and the soup of the night, split pea, was great. Don't pass up dessert, the special apple pie served on a hot iron skillet with ice cream and a brandy cream sauce.

I eat at Bastiens several times a week. I love going for lunch because the lunch specials are wonderful and reasonably priced. There is just something nice and cozy about a family owned and operated restaurant. I have dinner there several times a month. I have never had a bad meal regardless of my choices. Their steaks are great as well as everything else they serve. The wait staff is very accommodating to your mood. If you want special attention you got it or if you just want a quiet meal alone you get that also. In summation, I just think it is a great place to eat, unwind and have fun. So give it a try, Denver, I think you will be pleased that you did.

Don't bother going here. The steaks (my T-Bone and my wifes New York Strip Steak) were nothing to write home about. It was okay, but I would rather eat at McDonalds!

Bastien's is the best restaurant in Denver, the food is outstanding and the sisters provide a delightful mix of personality, excellent service, and fun. Mary can even do tricks with the silverware. A rate it as one of Denver's best!!!!!

I have been eating at this restaurant for over 10 years and the food is always of the best quality. The service is consistantly good to superior, and there is hardly ever a wait time and you can sit and enjoy your meal without being rushed or bothered. The staff is extremely courteous and quick to fix any problem that might arise (which is very seldom). Prices are competative but affordable, I try to dine here at least once a month. Servings are generous and while often simple they are still presented and served with taste. The ambience is a little dated but clean. The start of your meal always begins with fresh baked bread and soup or salad, (I always recommend the homemade soup). Overall, this is my favorite restaurant in Denver and I enjoy bringing company and visitors here every chance I get.

Six of us went to have the best steak in Denver. Three ordered the "New York Sugar Steak", their signature steak; two had Fillets and one person the Salmon.

The steaks were fattier then we would have liked, and lacked good flavor.

We also ordered sides of sauteed mushrooms and onions. The plate consisted of around six sliced mushrooms and a whole onion. We were expecting a ton of mushrooms and some onion for flavor, but we had just the opposite. All in all the mushrooms and onions did nothing to compliment the flavor of the steaks.

They werent bad, but they werent the best weve had. We had high expectations from the previous reviews on City Search.

The desserts were great, but we came for steaks and were somewhat disappointed.

If your in Milwaukee Coerpers 5 Oclock Club is a must. Best steaks we have had so far.

For a place to have a sign claiming the "Best Steaks in Denver" you better be damn impressive. Yet again the "Best of Denver" signs that are hap-hazardly plastered around the town led me down an unimpressive path filled with disappointment. Though very quaint, the Bastien offered up a less than tasteful rendition of a large 20 oz T Bone, green beans that lacked luster and a delightful array of dessert, kudos on dessert.
I chalk this restaurant up on the "don't waste your time board" unless your tooth is more partial to sweet than savory (i.e. the dessert).

The editor's and user's reviews led me to believe that a visit to Bastien's would be special. It was not. The only highlights to the meal were the salad, the greens appeared fresh, and the service. The steak was overcooked and full of gristle, the onion soup was flavorless and not well-presented, the meal was served with store-bought white bread, and the ambience was beyond description but definitely not, as the review suggested, romantic.

Bastien's is not only a good steak house but they also serve up some great seafood items. I love to go and have the Trout ala Bastien, a lage whole trout fielt ( not half like a lot of restaurants around town give you) sauteed with garilc and fresh tomatos and fresh shrimp. They often have a wondrful fresh special of the night. The salmon with sour cream dill sauce is a must try. the nightly dinner for two special for only 24.00 for 2 is one of the best deals in town. It comes with soup or salad, changing nightly entree special, and desert for only 24.00 for 2. Add a bottle of wine for 20.00 and you have a great dinner at a great price. Be sure to try them out you will not be sorry.

Brought out of town business co-workers and they found it pleasantly within their per diem as well as very tasty. I know I can bring people there for the first time and not be embarassed by my recommendation. The food is always delicious and hot and the people are usually very friendly.
