I danced for Marion for 13 years and was an instructor for 5 of them. I absolutely loved dancing with her and she is a great teacher. Marion really knows how to interact with her students and she develops a family within her school. This is a great place for children to learn social skills, coordination, balance etc. But most important, its fun!

This is a terrific school for many reasons. Both of my daughters take from Marion and thoroughly enjoy it each year. Both started as preschoolers. Not only has it been fun, but I can see the growth in them each year as they progess. My youngest was very reluctant at first, but I was allowed to enter the room with her. Marion was very knowlegable as well as understanding of children and their growth. I think if I had gone anywhere else, my daughters first lesson would have been her last. Marion is great with them and has a great personality. They both adore her and love going to class. She teaches with knowledge, and adds her own personality and humor to the teaching of each class. She is respectful of all students and teaches with a loving patience....I really give her credit!!! We always observe classes and you can see the enjoyment she has as well as the fun the kids are having. I always look forward to the recitals which my girls find fun, with no pressure. Marion always stresses for them to have fun and not worry, and to enjoy what they have worked to do. I love her attitudes and philosopy, and would recommend her school to everyone. The studio is great too because as mentioned before, she allows viewing from a really large observation room with lots of big windows.

Marion is not only an amazing teacher, but has a great personality. I have been a student with her for many years and have been a teacher assistant for at least a few years. When taking lessons from Marion, you can SEE the improvement made, starting at a preschool age level. She makes the classes interesting for all ages, teaching not only new moves but general education as a whole. Younger students as early as two learn their numbers, right from left, while older students learn new vocabulary, math, and choreography from the different formations and steps.

She always makes you feel important. Not once have I ever seen her talk down to another, and she is always willing to make time and come in for extra make-up lessons.

Though many criticize Marion for performing solos in different classes, it is only because she was never able to find an alternate soloist from her more experienced dancers.

Marion is a UCONN graduate, as a teacher, so she knows how to teach and how to effectively teach children of all ages. She is NY dance academy trained so she knows dance. She dances with her students to show them what they can achieve through hard work and practice. It's called leading by example. There is a long standing tradition with this school that the teacher dances with the children and they love it. None of the dances that Marion does are at a level that any but her most experienced students could do (and her most experienced students do dance them with her), so she is not taking roles away from her students. In fact, her dances are mostly for the parents so that they learn that she does know the different forms of dance. As a parent, wouldn't you be leery of having your child learn a skill from someone who did not have that skill themselves? I know I am. Marion is extremely dedicated, spending many, many hours planning classes, choreographing them herself based on the skill level of the students in each class. No cookie cutter dances here. Each year the dances are new, which is part of the reason her students return year after year. In Marion's school, they learn new steps and techniques each year, not just a repetition of the previous year's lessons to different music. Older students learn choreography themselves, writing their own dances during their senior year. Older students can learn leadership skills by becoming student aides. If you are looking for a school with a dedicated teacher, with the knowledge to instruct your child and increase their skill level as each year passes, then this is the school for you.

PROS: dedicated teacher, classes geared to student skill level
CONS: none

I have had the unfortunate experience of sitting through several recitals from this school, and hope to never do it again. Marion clearly knows her stuff when it comes to dancing, but I don't think she makes a very good teacher. She barks at the children during lessons which often times made my daughter upset, and then when it came time for the recital she put herself into many of the dances and even took over solo parts that could have been cast to one of the students. She also charges slightly more than other schools in the area. Overall, I would recommend to skip this school and find another one.

PROS: Decent studio
CONS: Unprofessional
