Love their recipe of pizza. I get it every time I go to the casino, and anytime I'm in the New Haven area.

Best pizza I ever had!! I love how they cut the slices, and the thick pepperoni.

Terrific, very flavorful thin-crust pizza! Pepe's is a New Haven institution. Sally's and Pepe's are the best places for pizza in this area. Well worth the wait.

Pizza is very oily and mediocre at best. It's not bad tasting, but not spectacular, and nothing I'd ever wait in line for. The pizza was cut very sloppily instead of in even, triangular slices.

We waited forEVER , had a rude waitress and for what? oily pizza that tasted like cardboard?? We did not have a good time here at all. The best part was when the staff wished us good night.

So, all these people told us that we HAVE to go to Pepe's pizza becuase it's the best EVER, that you'll never eat another pizza, ect. So one night after a tryout, I went there with a friends family and we ordered a pizza. I bie into the greasy pizza to find out that I didn't think there was anything special about it- not that it was bad, it was good- but that it wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. I wouldn't wait half an hour to be seated for it.

Pepe's is without a doubt the best pizza around. The bacon pizza is the best! Although there's almost always a line outside (come prepared for that!), it's definitely worth it.

What can I say about New Haven Pizza, It is among the best in the world! Unlike Sally's, Pepe's is open for lunch and the line is usually out the door! Sometimes up to a half hour to get a seat, but well worth the wait! This has been a New Haven institution for many, many years, and I hope they never go away. Authentic Wooster St pizza sets the standard that all others are judged by.
Check it out for yourself!

This is not fresh mozzarella and San Marzano tomatoes. This is a neighborhood pizza charred up in a brick oven. If you've had Lombardi's you'll be very disappointed. If you're not spoiled already it's a decent pie, but don't go out of your way for it.

Went there on a Sunday afternoon in the fall and the place was packed, we were lucky to get a parking place on the street. Over a hour and a half wait so we went next door to "The Spot". The same pizza we were told just not the ambiance of the original restaurant. Pizza was very tasty and large. A oval shaped pie that was cut into irregular shaped slices. The crust was very thin and very crispy, alittle burnt on the edges. The sauce was more a plain tomato sauce than a pizza sauce, not spicy enough for my taste. The cheese was ample but the topping were weak in supply. I've had pizza all over the country and this was good, just not the best which I've had in Philadelphia.

I have had pizza all over the U.S. and around the world. This is without a doubt one of the best pizza experiences of my life. My daughter goes to school in R.I. and my son in Conn. I look forward to making the trip now that I have discovered this place. If you enjoy good pizza, you must try this place. It's not far off I 95 and worth the effort. Just writing this makes me want to jump in the car and get a Frank Pepes Pizza.

Connecticut has the best Pizza and Pepe's in New Haven is right up there, if not at the top. Get there early, or expect to wait for a while in line- for a while. Over an hour at times, but the line is more manageable than Sallys. The crust and sauce are great. Certain times the pizza tastes better than others, tough to explain but always great. I've heard enough about New York pizza- the "City" better have at least 3 or 4 good places for a pie or a slice when there's over 6 million people living there! That being said, Pepe's in New Haven is great, to avoid the line in the summer time its great to go with a buddy after work, order ahead for takeout, cut through the line, grab a few beers at the liquor store on the corner, and eat the pizza in the park with a few cold ones.

Pros: delicious pizza, simple menu, historic

Cons: long line, seats near door can be extremely drafty in the winter with the door opening so much

Pepe's is better than any pizza anywhere. New Haven style pizza is extra thin and black on the bottom. Different than New York style pizza and of course Chicago style. I've tried pizza all around the U.S. Nothing compares to Pepe's

I don't get what they hype is. People said it's what put New Haven on the map. Personally, I don't like my pizza crust to be soggy and thin. I like a good thick crust that can withstand all of my toppings and not flop when I try to put it into my mouth. Although, it's the first pizza restaurant I've been to for a long time that offers anchovies...mmm salty.

As a die hard New Yorker and pizza lover, I must say I have tried them all. From The Bronx, Westchester, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, LI, Staten Island and NJ, I have had the best. Over the years I have encountered many annoying New England nats that claimed that ?New Haven Pizza? was the best. So today, I decided it was a beautiful day and that I would make the hour and a half plus trip to New Haven with some buddies to see what all the fuss was about.
All I can say is WOW?and not in a good way. Talk about OVERRATED. We heard the horror stories about the parking and service (but for great pizza, none of that really matters). I must say, the parking lot attendant was one of the nicer parts to our experience- great guy. We sat ourselves at the neighboring annex ?The Spot?. When we asked the lot attendant what the difference was between the two, he said ?100 feet; the length of the driveway?. He may have been right, but the real answer should have been the difference in the pizza is 100 miles?FROM NEW YORK.
We ordered our pies and calmly waited hungrily. We ordered three different pies ? the ?famous? white clam pie, a regular, and one with sausage. I took my first bite, and my first thought was, ?EHHHHH?. It was OK. I looked at my buddies, and they had the EHHHH face too. You know the face; the one that says, this is ?ok?, but not worth the drive ok.
The crust was ok, probably a little too well done, the cheese was nonexistent and the sauce was bland. The clams were definitely out of a can, and if they weren?t they really seemed it.
I was looking around at all of the other patrons to see if they had the same bitter beer faces we all did. They didn?t. They were really enjoying themselves! Then it dawned on me. People from Connecticut and New England don?t know any better. To put it in the words of a California transplant in my group, ?I have had better pizza in California.? OUCH, enough said.

My family has gone to Pepe's for over 50 years now and will continue to do so as long as I live. Its tradition to wait in line and talk to each other and the other patrons. Its funny to watch the 'rookies' in line complaining about the wait. Little do they know it is worth EVERY bite!!!!!!!!!!!!! ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!!!!!!!! Even cold for breakfast!!!! :-)

The Best Napoletana Pizza in the World. This pizza is infamous for being the best brick oven pizza on the East Coast, possibly the world. Made from the best and most authentic of fresh ingrediants, the way a pizza should be. The crust is fenominal, whether you order the white clam pizza, or the typical pie, you'll find that the taste is not typical. It's no wonder people who know and love pizza come from all over the world to eat Frank Pepe's famous Pizza. I'm Italian. I grew up eating Itallian food and no one else comes close.

The FRESH and I mean Fresh Clam pie is absolutely the best one I've ever had. I've searched every other noteworthy pizza joint in the state and let me tell you Pepe's wins hands down. The reason... They shuck the fresh live clams themselves. No rubber clams from a can here... Yes the lines and service are terrible at Pepe's. But who cares the pie is the absolute best in the world. At the Spot (original Pepe's) when it's busy they come outside and take your order so when you get in you sit down and your pie is ready...

One can argue that Frank Pepe invented Pizza or at least made it what it is today. Pepe's set the standard to which all others must follow. What most people refer to as New York style pizza is in fact Pepe's style. This is the pizza that is most often imitated. Like the saying goes imitation is the highest form of flatery. That being said, let me address those people who complain about long waits and bad service. Hello people this is a pizza joint. You go here to have pizza, beer and soda!! This is not a five star resturant and it dosen't have to be. If you want great food from any place, there is always a wait or you have to make reservations. If you have never had Pepe's pizza then you need to try it then use it as the bench mark for all other pizza.

This is the real thing. Frank Pepe's is amazing !! A cold windy Saturday in March produced a 30 minute wait outside to get in, and I usually would not want to wait but this was worth every minute of it. The place has the old school pizza charm, a huge coal fired oven, family members waiting tables and no prices on the chalkboard menu. The pizza is among the best ever and the fresh clam and bacon combo may be my all time favorie. Two pies only cost $18 total, a guy in line had driven in from Manhattan, that says it all, Frank Pepe is a 11 on a scale of 10.

You find yourself standing in a long line on a cold day while there are plenty of empty seats inside. God help you if you want a refill because your server seems to have died in the back. And if you look at it honestly, it's not New Haven's best pizza. Overall though, it's the place to go and the thing to do. You were raised doing it and you still do. Try the "Potato Chip."

Pepe's for short is rated best in CT you will find their certificates that say so. I am only 12 year old girl, I can eat a whole large clam pizza about 30 minutes or less I usually only eat 2 pieces anywhere else but here its got this taste thats out of this world the cheese is the best I everhad too i usually eat about only 3 or 4 cheese pieces because im scared if I even just take 4 minutes to eat some of the cheese my mother would ate all the good clam pieces or most of them haha. I go at least every 2-4 weeks. Worst thing about it that its crowded, not a problem because The Spot Pepe -ORIGINAL- is smaller with a smaller line - ITS the same exact quality I go to both the Spot and this one PLZ GO, TRUST ME!!!

I grew up on Pepe's and as an adult every time I go visit I go eat pizza! Still the best. The wait Is always worth It!

Pros: Reasonable, Excellent, Friendly

Cons: Crowded

.

This is simply put, the best pizza in the world, i've eaten pizza all over, and of all kinds, but this one tops them all, without a single doubt, Pepe's knows what good tasting pizza is all about, nobody comes closer.

I was in New Haven once, 8 years ago and I ate at pepe's. I am usually a light eater, I ate an entire pie. And even 8 years later, I talk about it with zeal. It is exceptional!
