Terrible Ethics

NO ethics! Even after I complained, they will deliver oil at a much higher price than is average. Then they have the nerve to charge over $.30 per gallon over the DAILY going rate. I will NEVER return to this company. I asked this question when I first signed up and was ASSURED that they are competively close to daily going PRICES..I found out other wise as did others I see writing a review.. on same subject.. last time for me....

This company has NO customer service, and NO ethics! Several times, even after I complained they will deliver oil at a much higher price than is average. The final straw was the big storm.. we were do for a fill-up well before the snow hit, when the pricing was lower. Not only did I have to CALL them after the storm to say we were very low, it took them several days to get through the "backlog" . Then they have the nerve to charge over $.30 per gallon over the going rate. I will NEVER return to this company.

Valley Oil is a very unethical company. On several occassions they have made large oil deliveries after my fixed price contact expired and charged me an exorbitant fee. It was clear that they intentionally held off making deliveries until the contract expiration in order to charge me above market rates. I was able to negotiate a better price, however, it was quite clear that they engage in this unethical practice at the detriment of its unsuspecting customers. I filed a complaint with the Department of Consumer Protection.

Horrible company. They branched out this year deciding to sell Generac Generators. I got an email, telling me they had a great deal on selling and installing these and oh yes, would take their customers first, before selling to others. Well, the fast talking rep came out, told us they had 3 different styles of Generac, we discussed where it would go and the price. Filled out the paper work, gave a 1500.00 deposit as they called it a "good faith" payment to show we were serious about the purchase. 4 weeks we were told (depending on the weather) and we would be getting installation. On the paperwork it said 4 weeks, the number 4 written large enough to see. Well, the month is up tomorrow and guess what, no generator, See, they took our money, and claim they paid for it, BUT the supplier (Generac, sent the generators elsewhere), I just got off the phone again with the young salesman and was told, they can't give us back the money, so,,now they are looking to sell Honeywell generators, instead. People, don't get involved with this company, going by the name Valley Oil , Hop Energy. They have done nothing but lie, take your monies, and then tell you "oh well, nothing we can do".. I have spoken to them several times, I have a mess in my backyard where they dug a trench,leaving mounds of dirt and rocks. Again I asked them to return our downpayment and was told, "can't be done", and kept telling me, "after all they did dig the trench", if this is their way of telling me that is worth 1500.00 bucks, they are nuts.
I hung up on this double talking fool and will turn it over to an attorney, as we did choose the 10,000. Generac. Do not fall victim to this company. I'm sure they will read this and I hope they do. I'll also be looking for court & attorney fees and like you said to me,, "TOUGH"

Moved into my new home seven months ago and the prev. homeowners had valley oil for 35 years so I thought it was worth it just to give them the shot. This is my first oil heated home, a salesman came out and explained how everything worked and answered all my questions.He didnt seem upset at all when I told him it was something I would have to give thought to, I called other companies and compared pricing, they where all in the same area. I ended up joining them and took out the silver? plan. Three months in, I woke up one morning at four to find the heat off and not going back on. I called them at 5 and they where out at 6:15 and because I had the plan I didnt have to pay a thing. I am only writing this because I went to pay my bill online and I noticed some bad reviews. If the prev owners had them for 35 years there must of been a reason!

A part that was included in their service plan needed to be replaced. Tech stated the part was expensive and had to be ordered - should have been done on the 1st visit not the 5th. On another occasion, came home to find a notice on the door that Valley was here to clean the boiler. When I called and told them I didn't make this appointment, they insisted I did. Then was told I would now have to wait three months for a cleaning. Last straw, when my contract expired I called Valley to see if they would match competitors pricing. Enticing new customers with gimmicks then jacking up prices and being rude with established customers is a non-starter. Customer service is not only getting new customers, but keeping the ones you have.

I've been a valley oil customer for 6 years. I didn't realize when I bought my house that the water heater was rented from them and I was stuck with them. I'm finally able to get out of my contract and no longer have to pay 35-55 cents more per gallon. I understood the risk of keeping the contract but now they are giving me a hard time about getting my money back that I've overpaid. This is just proof that the lawsuits filed against them do have merrit.

The worst oil company ever! Consistently charges $1 more per gallon than other companies. Poor service. Did not come out for a scheduled cleaning. Charges high prices for a service contract and then send out unqualified people to perform work. Had to have them come out twice to fix an oil leak caused by them changing the oil filter.
Do not start doing business with this company.

My family has been with this company for years! They have never been nothing less than GREAT. One time we had no heat and they came right out! We even bought a boiler through them three years ago and it has been working great. I would recommend them to anyone. I already have, my son has them as well!

I was a good customer for three years with this company. We even paid for the Gold Maintence Plan until this year when they decided to rip us off. This year we were signed up for a capped amount and we paid our bill on time every month. When I called to re-contract for the next year they told me I owed $600 bucks. I asked how is that possible since I had paid my bills on time. They said that the Valley Oil had given us the wrong budget and it was their mistake but we still owed the money. Terrible company...I would never recommend. Corrupt!

I was on automatic delivery with Valley for a while. I noticed the price was higher than it should've been. I didn't call until I received the last bill which was almost a $1 per gallon higher. I was told I didn't have a contract with them. I went back to check the older bills, I was charged as much as 31% higher than average price from the competitors.

3 years ago my OLD company ran me out of oil, Valley came out in a matter of hours and got my heat back on at no cost. I have NEVER had a problem with customer service and at the same time there price always seems competitive to me. I would recommend this company to anybody.

Awful! We were on automatic and they let our oil run out. We then had to have our whole system cleaned and they made my husband purchase the service contract. We had already had a cleaning and were going to wait to renew our contract.Later that year they were booking cleanings 3 months out. You should not have to wait 3 months.As we were no longer under automatic, they delivered oil and tried to charge almost a full dollar over all other companies. They told me they hear that alot and they did revise the bill. I told them after our scheduled cleaning we were not going to use them and instructed them not to deliver oil to us again. A few weeks later they delivered oil again at a rediculous price.after being told not to. They "could pump it out for a fee!!!" They again revised the bill and while we were waiting for the revised bill and I had been in constant dialogue with customer service...They turned our last bill over to collections! (After 2 years of us paying on time) Too bad they now lose part of our payment to the collections agency. Serves them right! Stay away!!!!

Until the day that a really angry, rude man came to my house to talk in a rude way to my parents and myself...
Is cheap but there is nothing like working or making business with nice people.
I will do my best to find an oil company where I am treat properly, with respect.
The guy needs to understand that he is doing his job, he is not doing a favor.

I don't get all the negatives!!!!! I had a service contract with them last year. never had any problem called twice for service and the came in within couple of hours. ran out of oil due to slow pay and when I called they sent in an emergency 20 gallons for the night and the oil truck came in the very next morning!!! driver said please send in a payment!!!!

i had a buderus boiler and indirect waterheater installed. very professional installation, pricing was competitive with other quotes and they have me 12 months of intrest free financing. i am very happy with valley oil.

So far I am pleased with Valley Oil. They installed a new boiler, oil tank, and indirect water heater. I am on automatic and they have been right on schedule with me. They have performed every necessary service for me to my satisfaction.

I'm not suprized to see all the bad comments here. I bought a new boiler from Valley last year. After several attempts, the service team finally got the install right. EVERY BILL I have recieved for the year has been wrong. The general manager has never returned a single call. I'd love to leave Valley, but other companies in the area won't back the new installation. Can't say I blame them. I suspect Valley Oil is a crooked and corrupt comapany ... so much so I filed a letter with the CT. Attorney General's office. Save yourself the headache ... buy elsewhere.

Their billing office is always wrong. I have to prove I paid my oil bill on a monthly basis with them. Service??? I don't think they know what that is. Everytime they mess up they send me a box of cookies. I don't want the stupid cookies. I want my oil delivered and my account tracked and credited correctly. My contract is up this month. I will be bringing my business to someone else. Considering I will probably be alive for another 50 years Valley Oil is gonna miss a lot of business from me. But they will save on sending me the cookies every month or two.

1- We were on call in advance at our request. Why would you pay the premium prices of a service company if you were going to monitor your own tank?
2- We were on call in advance because of our dog. Which one is it? And if we were on call in advance why had we no problems for the two years leading up to now and why were there no messages on our machine?

I called and asked to be credited to the "call in price" for the days we ran out but was advised that they would not do that. I advised that I would find someone else to buy oil from..

What do they think the 12 pack of cookies sent, which confirms their mistake, was going to solve the problem?

They ran me out of oil 2 times in a year. When i called they had no excuse and said their "computer" said i should have a half of tank each time. Then the truck driver offered me a lower price if i bought oil directly from him. They run a crooked business.

Have been using them for a few years for a service contract on my tenant's furnace. Two years ago, when the 60 year old boiler finally died, they came right out and I had a new one installed within 2 days. They gave me an easy payment plan with no interest to pay the boiler off over time, which was interest free and easy for me since it came out of the tenants rent. Fast, professional service.
