It's nice to see an old time hobby shop still around, by old time I mean trains and models and the like. things are fun there which is what hobbies should be, too many shops these days are "collectible" shops and that's fine but it's also

Ok, I admit that I only go to the Time Machine to play Magic every now and then but I usually have a great experience. The only con is that some of the players are too good, not a bad thing but it takes some of the fun out of the game if you get beat on the third turn. Ok, Ok so I suck at the game but it's still fun. He's pretty cheap on his singles and a little high on his box prices but it all evens out I suppose. A fair trader and a nice play area. I go to Matt's Sportscards and Comics in Enfield for a more laid back Magic experience. Lots of players but no one who will smoke you in 3-4 turns. I'm definitely more of a casual player but look at it this way ,even if you are really bad at golf it would be cool to play against Tiger Woods. You know that you will get crushed but it's still fun to find out exactly by how much. So in short I go to 2 shops for Magic, one for fun and one for fun and a reality check. I recommend both.

I went to this store for the first time and saw that they had a decent sized inventory. I made a good sized purchase (about $1500) and thought I found my new future Hobby store.
So I get home happy with my purchase so far and I start inspecting my purchase and one of the items I purchased ($350) turned out to be defective. (Just to give you an idea, I am meticulous with my stuff and I keep everything better then new). I immediately packaged the item back into its retail box perfectly the way it came from the factory. I brought the item back to the Time Machine the next day and as I was walking up to the counter with the item I purchased the manager of the RC department Radio Controlled vehicle department) started to shake his head "no" even before I had a chance to say anything. I proceeded to tell him that the item was defective. He told me that since it is used I can't return it. I told him that I did not use it and it was defective from the start. He stopped me and said you turned it on so it is now used and to deal with the manufacturer.
So now besides that problem, one of the items I purchased was not in stock and had to be ordered ($400). So the Manager of the RC department calls me a few days later and leaves me a message saying that the item has arrived. I call him back and wanted to confirm the price we discussed which was $400. He says " I dont remember saying that, it is $420". So I continue and tell him the only reason I was purchasing that item was because he gave me the reasonable price of $400. If it was anymore then $400 I was going to buy it else where because I had an online store that was selling it for $400. Since Time Machine was willing to sell it to me for $400 I wanted to give them the business and plus it was more convenient to not deal with the shipping from online stores. So in the middle of that phone call he gets all mad and acts extremely rude and yells "Go and get it from the online store!!"
I was going to give them a lot of business until I had the worst experience of any hobby store I have ever been to. Probably the worst experience of any store I have been to period!
I deffinately suggest not going to this store. They care only about the sale and getting money from you. After you give them your money, they dont want anything to do with you. Unless of course you want to give them more money.

Pros: Not the only Hobby store around.

Cons: No customer care. Only wants money and to make the sale.

The Time Machine is a great unique toy store where you can find tons of toys that are not in your average toy or big box store. If you are looking for collectibles, educational toys, or unique puzzles and games this is the place to go. There are multiple levels so be prepared to walk up and down the stairs to see the full store. The modeal train room on the top floor has a very cool layout but could use a little brightening up. I'm sure as my son gets older he will find many treasures in that store and hopefully someday I'll have a little girl so that we can decorate one of their beautiful dollhouses together!

I like this store and have gone there since I was about 10 (back then it was New England Hobby Center). They have changed the focus from a pure Hobby shop to a high end toy and hobby shop. As the father of a two year old I love all the educational games and unusual toys that can be hard to find other places. also I'm amazed at the wide variety of items offered. There are several display Model train layouts upstairs (some of them are not always open to the public so check if you want to see them all up and running.) I really love the store my only negative is that I wished they had a wider selection of HO and N scale equipment in the model train section.

You can spend hours in this museum-quality toy store, stocked with everything under the sun. I have found many educational, unique, lovely items here for all ages(mostly adults!). Prices are a bit below average, service is good, parking is no problem, and getting there is easy as long as you have an idea where it is. There is an ample RC car section, model planes, military collectibles, stuffed toys, games, puzzles, scientific toys, collectible cards, and SO much more. Some items are rare, and there is definitely something for everyone.

I don't build models, but for special glues and items that you won't find at larger craft stores, I go to the Time Machine. Located in an old brick building in Manchester, the shop is enormous and has tons of character. The first floor is a toy room (lots of unique and educational toys) and model kit room. Upstairs is model train supplies and accessories and dollhouse items. We have found that by just poking around upstairs, there are many interesting items that can be used in projects other than train sets and dollhouses. Check it out!
