My dogs were regular patients of Wethersfield Animal Hospital for the last 13 years until recently. I would have gone elsewhere sooner were it not for their affiliation with Veterinary Specialists of Connecticut.
Originally the doctors here were excellent. Dr. Knaack, Dr. Berzon and Dr. Murphy. Dr. Murphy is gone and Dr. Knaack and Dr. Berzon only see patients in Wethersfield maybe one half day a week. The staff of Veterinarians is constantly changing, as well as the staff. It is really not an option to take my dogs (one very elderly) to West Hartford.
When I thought my dog had Cushings disease, it became apparent that she was not going to get consistent care by one doctor. This was crucial to me, so I took her elsewhere. I am now in the process of looking for a consistent vet that I can see on a regular basis.
I was appalled at the way I was treated by the administrative staff at Wethersfield Animal Hospital. They made a mistake in the billing and sent me a bill for a procedure that was not done to my dog. When I called to inquire, Kathy was so rude to me, telling me they had sent me a corrected bill (which had not arrived yet) billing me for another procedure I had no proof was done. I then spoke to the office manager who continued with the rude condescending tone. They made me feel like I made the mistake, they never apologized once. I will never go back there. When the time comes to say goodbye to my pet, I want caring people there, not rude nasty ones!!
I've only been once so far for my dog's annual checkups. They were great. They listened to me and my concerns. My desire to be in the room for all procedures was fine with them. They were easy to get an appointment with and were timely for the appointment. The office is nice and clean and the dogs got cookies when they left.
PROS: Great staff
CONS:
