I find most of what I'm looking for plus a number of 'treats' that are no longer available in the chain stores. Meat is great, but so are the canned goods - especially the Italian - and the chocolate selection, which changes regularly. The bread is consistently fresher here as well. Veggies are ok. Customer service has always been very accommodating.

This is by far the worst store that I have ever been to. Very Disrespectful!! I went in and bought some steak and it was bad shame in me for not checking but when I went back a hour later to return it they refused to. I spoke to the manager and still would not take it back. I DO NOT recommend them to anyone.

I'm a Machinist's Mate 2nd class in the US Navy about to finish out my 6-year contract with an honorable discharge, on terminal leave in CT. I went into Marandino's today to buy a 12-pack and some food for a get together I'm planning to have for myself and a couple of friends. The clerk asked to see my identification, which is perfectly reasonable since apparently they ran into trouble with false ID's recently, and were shut down for a period because of it. What I found to be perfectly UNreasonable was the fact that on the hierarchy of personal identification, a US active duty military ID is less than worthless. They asked if I had a driver's license instead, and I said of course, but I looked nothing like the picture because - shock - I joined the military to spend my golden years serving my country. And have since had a radical change in my hairdo. I showed it to them anyway, and they brought their manager out to get his opinion. He said they couldn't accept it as a valid form of ID, but that they also couldn't accept my military ID (Which has my birthday, social, updated photo, AND says I'm protected under the Geneva Convention.), but the only reason for that which they gave me was "We usually use driver's licenses." I understand that in the Avon/Simsbury/Canton area of Connecticut, there isn't much of a military presence. But it's absolutely ludicrous that an active duty military identification could be considered lower on the food chain than a piece of laminated plastic that allows me to drive a car. They wouldn't even look at it. And whenever I tried to explain this to them, they just said over and over, like I was a learning-disabled child, that I didn't look like my 7 year old driver's license (Which is NOT expired), and that my signature looked nothing like it did 7 years ago. Another side effect of military service. Marandino's has henceforth lost my business, and hopefully anyone else in the area who has a shred of respect for the men and women who sacrifice their youth putting their lives on the line for their country. I haven't felt so insulted in a long, long time.

Marandino's is a great family owned grocery store. I've been shopping there since I've been in the area, 16+ years.

Their meats are excellent! Whenever I venture to 'other' stores, I quickly remember & rediscover that Marandino's beef is the best in the area. I make a special trip to Marandino's just for beef. All other items are great as well. They even manage to carry some unique products I don't see in the regular food stores.

I hope they stay intact for many, many years to come.

Local store with great meat, store roasted lunch meats, local produce when possible, reasonable and very fresh dried seasoning and herbs, and fantastic customer service. You can't beat it. It's family owned with a great attitude. If a customer has a special request for a product, they will generally carry it. They do a great job at stocking what their customers buy while carrying a wide range of items. They have crazy specials on Tuesdays and Fridays. They have priced to the mid market range, and most general items are lower than some other markets around here. Their meat sales can't be beaten. So if you know your prices, you can shop weekly and may spend less there on the basics. Marandino's started carrying a product for me, so I started shopping there weekly, rather than intermittently. I do focus on sales, produce, meats, dairy, etc. My food bill went down. Interesting phenomenon.

it's great to see that a small store can still stand on its own two feet when bigger stores are closing everywhere else. keep up the great work, meat dept deserves a standing ovation.

It's great to have a local store still in business, but their prices can often hurt the wallet! They are perfect to stop in to pick up something quickly on your way home from work, but it's not a place to go if you are looking to do your weekly shopping.

A small grocery store for a small town. It's very convenient for the local townspeople. They can be a bit pricey on some items, but their meats are spectacular.
