I live in Delaware and like Jimmies West Haven we have Our Seafood Restaurants serve fresh Sea Food. The difference here is in preparation and cooking. Here and other seafood establishments the fried seafood is breaded and deep fried. which makes them all taste pretty much the same. not bad but the same. I couldn't begin to tell you how food at Jimmies of Savin Rock is prepared. but if Jimmies were to open a Sea Food restaurant in this area or I'm pretty sure in any area of Delaware they would corner the market and put other sea food establishments out of business. I have never had sea food anywhere else in America that taste as good as Jimmies. I visit Ct twice a year and make it a point to go to jimmies whenever I'm there. OK so you may have to wait for an hour or so sometimes during the summer months for a table. That tells you that the food is that good and worth the wait. I highly recommend Jimmies of Savin Rock to anyone going through the area looking for excellent sea food.

I will turn SIXTY tomorrow & Jimmies is still my favorite place to eat.
I've been going to Jimmies since I was an infant & eating Lobster Rolls from there almost as long. I have never, ever been disappointed at Jimmies & will once again eat there for my birthday.
I agree that the decor leaves something to be desired, but I've been to beautiful places where the food sucked. I've never seen it dirty & find that comment hard to believe.
Awhile ago, Jimmies was going to sell there location and close down, I cried.
Whenever my family or friends come back to CT to visit, the first place we all go is Jimmies.
I find it hard to believe the bad reviews.
ALL I CAN SAY IS JIMMIES FOREVER !!!!

I have dined at Jimmies many times over the last Thirty years. The last three or four times the food has gone downhill. After the last time 05/20/08 i will never go back there again. You can get much better food at a roadside stand then at this restaurant. And at a much better price. The food was just plain bad, tasted bad, looked bad,and there was enough grease to float a barge.Would not recommend this place to anyone

the food at jimmy's in my opion has gone down hill in the past few years, from a restaurant at the top of the list to just an average seafood restaurant.

A MUST stop! We treated our wedding party here. It is set up on the water with a wonderful view! It is a bit pricey, but you get a lot for your money! There is a long wait, however, there are bars to sit in while you wait. It is truly worth the wait.

I love Jimmies. It is the only place to go for fried shrimp. Everything is fresh and there is always plenty. The only downside is the wait for a table in the summer. But it's worth it!

That's what it was like going back to Jimmie's after 20 years. If you like mediocore fried food and lots of fries, with a little dollup of coleslaw on the side, then you'll love it. I felt as if I was in a cafeteria and the view didn't even help. I don't know what the attraction is.

While traveling through West Haven from Pennsylvania to Boston today we stopped to have some lunch. The waitress was very nice and I asked to have the lobster roll without the roll (as I have Celiac disease). The answer was "no" I had to have it on the roll even when I explained that I could not eat anything that touched wheat. The waitress was very upset as the manager apparently berated her about the request. I was horrified as this has never happened to me before. I ended up having only a plain side salad with vinegar and oil. I lost my appetite. I would not recommend this restaurant.

My family and I had heard good things about Jimmy's. The location is terrific and we enjoyed a lovely walk along the water while waiting 45 minutes for a table. Our drink order at the bar got botched--we were given a pina colada instead of a margarita. The straw that really broke the camel's back was discovering that our lobster rolls had only a little lobster and lots of other stuff--like surimi (fake crabmeat)! When questioned, our waiter said they use crawfish and langostino. At $16, we expected lobster! Don't think we'll ever be back.

Huge portions, I love the fried shrimp or clam strips. A West Haven institution for years, my folks used to bring me here as a kid for my birthday... I remember thinking I couldn't wait to be a
"rich grownup" so I could eat there every day! Also, a nice view as it is right on the beach and you can get a seat by the ocean.

I think it's worth a trip from Branford to go to Jimmie's.
It must be like a land mark by now.
One of my favorite things about Jimmie's is thier dinner specials.
And they offer these dinner specials every night.
PROS: right on the water
CONS:

I was dissappointed when I went to Jimmys. I heard so many nice things about the restaurant I was sure to be impressed. When I walked in the open dinning area looked like a cafeteria. The service was very slow (I went on a weekday). The food is overpriced. I chose to eat fried seafood this day (this is what they specialize in) because not much more on the menu to choose from. This restaurant could be beautiful with the view of the long island sound but they choose not to update dinning area.
PROS: large parking area
CONS: food,prices and service

While fun to go to sometimes and one of the only places that serves whole belly clams I have to say this place is so far from a World Class Establishment that I am stunned to see it rated this way. Among the negatives I would sight dirty and run down at the top of the list. Bright green relish wierds me out too! Long waits are another drawback. The positives include the view, portion size and friendly waitstaff. Mediocre at best, but a landmark.

The serving size is sinful..no one should eat that much at one sitting but I LOVE IT. You will never be disappointed in your meal. Try the whole belly clams. they are out of this world.
The service is fast but not rushed. although the wait for the table can be lengthy. Best bet is go in, get your name on the list and enjoy a few drinks in the bar
PROS: Freat service, pleasant employees, Fantastic food
CONS: in the summer the wait my be a little longer

We've been going to Jimmies for about six years now and we have yet to be disappointed. The food is always fantastic and the portions are great. The staff is always friendly and you can't beat the prices for what you're getting. I highly recommend this restaurant !!
Only wish they would put the Lazy Man's Lobster back on the menu....we REALLY miss that !!
PROS: Great Food, Great Waitstaff, Prices are competitive, Nice Location
CONS: During the busy summer months, you may experience a long wait..but worth it
