I have been to CT Humane Society many times, just kinda looking...who knows what will reach out to me ? I have also been to the Fox Memorial Clinic for many routine low cost spay/neutering, shots, deworming, tests, etc.both dog and cat under 1 year of age. The staff were not the friendliest, and only did what was barely necessary to get the animal into thier care, they were not considerate of the animal's feelings at all. They listed my two male cats as ""Beware-Bites and Scratches"" I laughed, these are the two friendliest cats that love people to pieces, and the staff couldn't take the moment or two to make an introduction to calm the animal? Of course, they are busy and very jammed with the workload, but it may help if the secretaries or vet techs didn't stand around and complain about different animals and thier owners after they left-I caught a whole conversation on a ""disliked"" customer and the quality of her dog's care. My pet's have all come back well done and up and moving in a day or two, I have had some other vets cut the animal so much the poor cat couldn't move right for a week. The cost is a good price for the vet's participation if you can get past the front desk crap\r\nAs for the adoption area, I have tried on two different occasions to adopt a pet-once a dog, once a cat. I have good references, and good vet references, since the mastiff male I have has to be seen by a specialist. But they feel that since I have two older dogs I shouldn't want any more-most state/city allow the ownership of 3 dogs per household. Some cities allow 4. My dogs are older, and have been in a multi-dog household since puppyhood. I would welcome a home visit. I have a 4ft high chain-linked fenced in yard, 200' x 250'. I fit thier criteria, I am an at home person-and yet they have refused me because the size of my mastiffs-it scaresTHEM!!! So I feel they should spend the time (not just look at the ability to pay the adoption fees) and see that I could be a good home for the right dog-my mastiffs accept 15pd dogs up to 135pd dogs without a beef- this is all not able to be a part of the consideration process, they just see ####'s, not the home that a poor dog could get lucky with. I feel bad that they are so ""strict"" on the rules that animals loose out.

Pros: LOW COST

Cons: BREED DISCRIMINATING IGNORANT RUDE STAFF

I have had a half dozen experiences in this location - all of which were positive. The staff truly love the animals and treat them with so much kindness. The areas for the animals are clean and humane. When adopting, they truly try to get to know the potential new owners to ensure that the animal(s) is going into a good home. I have adopted most every animal during my lifetime from this location and highly recommend them!
