Awful, the owner is a slimeball, was actually waiting at my new house when I got home from the closing, has some kind of illicit connection with the town hall folks because my lawyer had not even been to the office to file paperwork yet. Made all these promises about locked in prices then changed his tune mid season and charged me going rate when the prices went up. Took me hours on the phone and lawyer and better business bureau threats to get contracted price. His words of advice was watch out for TLC they will wait till the contract date then fill your tank with inflated prices. Guess what Viking did, filled my tank on May 1st after the April 30th contract was up and charged me over $4 a gallon. This man is dirty. Stay away.

BAD-Ordered 100 gallons of fuel oil, Viking topped off tank on multiple occasions. Called with concern about billing and was told by the owner not to worry and to pay in installments as I have for many years. Again mid-April, before my account was zeroed out, Viking filled tank. I called the demand No More Deliveries. Was sent to legal dept. and badgered about money owed. I confirmed I'd continue to pay installments and never had issues before. I received a bill this week for $53 for a Mechanic's Lien against my home which is for sale...I absolutely cannot believe Viking did this to me. Do not trust this company - they are unfair and just mean. I have never been late on any bills - I have paid consistently - WTF!!!

Viking agreed upon delivery date... with a no call, no show. Admittedly, I should have checked to make sure they filled the tank as promised. Now, I just ran outta oil and it's 20 degrees... and I smell like diesel and feel like a fool for having believed they'd live up to their commitment. This is the SECOND time they didn't deliver as committed. I couldn't recommend Viking less right now.

I have been with Viking for 10 years -- I have had it. They always delivered on time BUT For the last 5 years I have to call them each change of season because their outsourced service partners (Never the same guy) comes and rewires the system so when winter hits, they send an incompetent who rewires the system so the heart works, then when summer hits they send another incompetent to rewire the system so the AC works. Last year I was sick of doing this stupid dance fo rthe last 5 years so when winter hit and the heat did not work I called the Lou, the owner and let him know how tired I was of calling twice a year and that I wanted them to fix it once and for all or I was leaving. So he sends out his "best" outsourced technician Mike and his sidekick, they worked for 2 days replaced a controller and dampers and rewired it. Ta Da its fixed they exclaimed - I paid $650+ I said lets wait and see if it is fixed when I go to turn on the AC. Summer roles around and guess what no AC, so I called for service and pointed out that this was supposed to be fixed and - wanting to maintain consistency in a service guy, I requested that Mike come out so that he could pick up where he left off. Next day another guy shows up at my door I asked him wheres Mike? the guy exclaimed "he's in jail" so I reluctantly let him work on the system, he replaces the controller and rewires the system total time was about 2 1/2 hours. TA DA its fixed! he exclaims!!! Great I say!!! - (meanwhile I don' t get a bill as the service was gratis per Lou via the prior service call that I already paid for) --- Wait the best is coming -- Winter 2010 roles around and guess what - the heat does not work. So I decided I had enough of the dance and I called - Quinnoco (based on my neighbors rec.) to come take a look at the system and told him if he fixed my system he would get all my business. He worked 3 hours and told me that it was fixed, that the heat had not even been hooked up and that the wiring was a total cluster mess. No surprise to me!!. I have tested it numerous times and it now works. I called Viking to let them know I was leaving because I was tired of my bi-annual dance service calls and to stop deliveries. I asked what I owed to settle the account "I was told nothing - that I was 100% up to date" Two weeks later November 9th I receive a bill for the May service for $686.00 with no explanation I write to Viking asking them to detail the bill, I wanted to know what the bill was for Gallons of oil? labor? and parts? if any and in the letter I pointed out that they had my credit card why did they not bill it back in May? Lou calls me trying to schmooze me back to Viking I went though the whole story with him and asked him why the bill showed up after I was told my account was 100% up to date. He said it was for the May service call???. I told him that the heat was not even hooked up and that it was supposedly fixed by Mike and that the Quinnoco guy had found a mess in the wiring. I told him that he had 5 years to fix it. He said he would make the the $685.00 bill go away if I stayed with them and then started to bad mouth Quinnoco aka did you know they were recently bought by a Canadian company - they aren't even local etc... Blah Blah Blah! I get another bill the week after my letter and call to Lou now with late fees!!. I called them up and spoke with Sandy and asked her to send me a detailed invoice as the part they replaced was $142 on the internet and the guy spent 2 1/2 hours and that I did not appreciate the bill mysteriously reappearing after I had left them She starts getting bitchy with me " ohh!! are you saying Lou is committing fraud. I said no that I'm not sure what the word for it is. She says so your saying Lou is committing fraud? I said no I just want a detailed invoice - so I know what the bills for. She gets pissed an hangs up. I plan on paying the full amount - just to get away from them - I don't call it fraud I call it more of an integrity issue almost blackmail- ish or even blackmagic. Stay with me and the bill mysteriously goes away, you leave and the bill mysteriously re-appears!!I Hmmm like a Bunny in a hat kinda!! Also people over the last ten years I have caught them boosting the price on oil - you need to watch them like a hawk. When you call Lou - and ask him why he's charging you .50 cents more per gallon than the going rates of his competitors he will Blabber on non-sensibly about the oil industry and prices - and then agrees to credit you "the going rate" for oil for that month only. It happened 3 times when I was with them. If you are on auto pay, your supposed to get a 10% credit - watch it - as I have found them not giving me the credit. I am glad to have switched as I am tired of dancing, black-magic and having to constantly watch these guys so I don't get porked.

Viking Oil has never missed a delivery in the 15 years I have been doing business with them. Their service technicians are reliable and friendly. If you find a better price elsewhere, Lou will always negotiate.

I usually don't write reviews but this place is so bad I want to warn others. We just started with Viking in September 2008. Now, three months later, we are dropping Viking and moving our business to a new oil company.Like everyone else, we were on automatic fill and ran out of oil. We called for emergency service at 7:30 PM and the guy finally showed up at 10:15 PM, to discover we ran out of oil. He told us that they don't deliver oil past 10:00 PM, even though it was their screw up. We had to go without heat for the night. His attitude was, Oh, well....it's 10:15.They also tried to tell us that we needed a new boiler, using scare tatics that our boiler would blow up if it wasn't replaced. After calling several other oil companies and having them look at our boiler, they both said there is nothing wrong with it. Viking just wanted to screw us and get money out of us.Their service sucks, just a bunch on no follow ups and poor business practices. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I wish anyone who has them as an oil provider good luck when you need service.

When I canceled Viking this fall I got about 5 calls from the owner schmoozing me to convince me to come back. I had signed a contract with another company at this point though. Viking obviously knew I had canceled but decided to come and fill my tank anyway. The new company unknowingly came to fill the tank and we ended up with oil in the basement. I called Viking to find out why they delivered. I was told that I was in the computer as a ??will call basis? and ??not automatic delivery?, so they should not have come out to deliver. The owner of the company refused to take any blame for the mess though. Now, a month after the spill he has not let up on calling me to get me back with his company. He offered to give me a very low rate and pay my penalty fees for breaking the contract with the new company. I did not agree to any of this!! I called a few days ago to just double check that they didn??t put me back on the automatic delivery. Good thing I called because he had signed me back up for automatic delivery without my consent. I asked for them to take me out of their computer all together and they refused so I asked for a letter saying that they will not deliver to my house which was supposed to be email to me and I am still waiting. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

I would also recommend to anyone considering Viking Fuel Co. to stay clear. Early this Spring, I received a nasty message on my door stating I should pay up for they would take the fuel back out of my tank. I hadn't even ordered any fuel and the name and address belonged to a neighbor. Evidently, THEY SAY, that they put oil in my tank by mistake when it should have gone to someone else, but just the same they wanted me to pay. Again I received a phone call about a past due bill when I knew absolutely nothing about the fill-up or the bill. The person on the phone kept arguing with me stating I had to have received the fill card or bill telling me that I owed for fuel. This supposedly happened 4+ months ago. How is a person supposed to verify receipt of oil after so much time has passed. I'm considering filing a complaint with the state on these folks.

Their customer service is atrocious and I'm looking around for another company that does care about their customers.

I would not recommend Viking Oil to anyone! We were on automatic fill-up and they allowed the tank to empty on two separate occasions. The first time we were living in the home with our infant daughter and had to wait five hours for them to come and refill it. The second time we were not living in the home - we had it on the market to be sold - and we returned to the home one weekend to find icicles hanging on the faucets and snow in the fireplace. When I called to talk to someone about this I received no apology or explanation - AND had to wait another six hours until oil was delivered. I have been extremely unhappy with this company and am relieved that I no longer have to deal with them!

These people are nice until they mess up. After an oil leak they caused at my house, they did a horrible job cleaning it and tried to get out of reporting it( we are talking about a 50 gallon leak, not small). After I called the DEP, Viking charged the cost of all the oil to my card without permission. After I had Amex remove the charge, they called and left me a nasty message, then they charged me again, but this time for the service call as well! For a "family business" they have no qualms about trying to pinch a single female homeowner for every red cent. Shame on you Viking!

Viking Fuel Oil made a delivery error to my residence. The two options they offered me were to pay for oil they delivered in error or pay for it's pickup. They wanted me to be financially responsible for their mistake. They have a poor rating with the Better Business Bureau. Avoid Viking Fuel Oil.

New Entry (02/01/2009) - They did it again! - Once again Viking has delivered to my residence by mistake and AGAIN tried to get me to pay for their mistake. STAY AWAY!

When I moved to West Hartford, I was told not to use Viking Fuel so I avoided them for awhile. Then one stormy winter in 2006 all the other oil companies refused to service me because it was late in the day near the weekend. I called Viking Fuel, recieved a friendly and welcoming voice. Viking Fuel came to the rescue within a few hours. Another time, the furnace broke down and I was afraid it would be an outrageous price to repair. Viking Fuel kindly said I will send a technician out to take a look. What was broken cost only $12.99. I have been with Viking Fuel ever since. Viking Fuel has been consistent with deliveries, repairs, and at times when I am unable to pay right away. Thank you Viking Fuel.

Within a week of my moving into the area, I received a knock on the door. It was Lou, the owner of Viking Oil Co. Needless to say, I have been with Viking for the last 3 years. Their prices are good, especially when you call them and tell them you will switch unless they drop.
