Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill is within an hour of pretty much anywhere in Connecticut. They have a large selection of Dinosaur footprints, preserved indoors in a giant dome structure, and plenty of info about the dinosaurs that used to live here. They also have nature trails and a picnic area outside the building, and a place where kids can actually make their own plaster casts of dinosaur footprints in a sandbox. A great place for the dinosaurphile to spend the afternoon! Also recommended is Peabody Museum in New Haven, too see the skeletons of the guys who made the tracks!

The park is the site of one of North America's largest collections of dinosaur tracks--left behind by the state's oversized dino inhabitants years ago. When you enter the huge dome built to preserve hundreds of the tracks found on the property, you'll learn about the dinosaurs that were in CT. The fossilized track patterns are illuminated, and there's an audio narration. The Park is also has dinosaur-era plants are cultivated and studied, and free to the public nature trails. Fun for kids to see the dinosaur foot prints.
