I think that Beijing Garden is nothing to be excited about. Before the last time I went, I found the service to be a little slow, the sushi not that great, and the servers to act like I was a burden by coming into the restaurant. However, it is close to where I live so I occasionally go out of convenience for take out. The last time I went in I received an order I did not request. I asked if there had been an error. When she said that there was no mistake, I said that perhaps there was miscommunication over the phone, but that I was looking for the California roll, not the Cucumber roll. Now, I understand that mistakes happen and that was not the problem for me in this situation. However, I was shocked to hear her say that she would do nothing about it. I was nothing but nice, did not place blame on her at all, and requested if I could get the roll I was looking for. She told me that they had made me the Cucumber roll already for me. Needless to say, I would not recommend this business and will not be going again. This was by far the worst customer service I have ever received.

This is THE BEST and FRESHEST sushi I've had in CT!! Unbeatable flavors and tastes due to the freshness of the fish! Great presentation and lunch specials!!! Excellent chef as well. We happened upon this place during lunch break from work. I would drive the 50 minutes to get here from home because it was so good!!

Both the Chinese and Japanese cuisines are excellent here, but I will mostly rave about the sushi bar where my favorite sushi chef works. Unlike most places in CT, the fish here is fresh and of good quality, and the [Japanese] sushi chef knows, respects, and loves what he does. If you ask him, he will be completely honest with you and tell you which days the fish is the freshest (generally, Tue. & Fri. afternoons). This chef slices the fish with care, and his dishes always come out as works of art (including the wasabi shaped as leaves or hearts). Every detail is perfect, down to the sushi rice being cooked just right. Definitely try the salads, esp. octopus(?) salad and seaweed salad, and enjoy the special rolls. Just a hint: the sushi chef always rememebers those with good taste. Enjoy this sushi bar experience while you can because the current sushi chef will be retiring in 2 years! (And he's the best yet.) If you are enjoying the Chinese cuisine, I highly recommend the Beijing Duck!

Pros: sushi bar, all the food

Cons: no atmosphere, not big on service

Those of you tired of that usual fast-food Chinese will gladly welcome the refreshing dishes of Beijing Garden...although the menu overall still sticks to the usual traditionals one would expect of a Chinese menu...there is simply this underlying sparkle about everything... I immediately knew that this is THE all-star place for asian cuisine when I sampled their chicken lo mein and fried rice....these two dishes stand as the essential foundations for chinese restraunts and a successful preparaton of these fundamental dishes equate to a solid basis for only the best. In addition...no more bickering and quarreling over whether to go japanese or chinese tonight because Beijing offers both and tailors to the cravings of diverse appetites! Come redefine your taste for Chinese and Japanese today!

Located near the UConn Health Center in Farmington, CT, Beijing Garden's is definitely a gem. The atmosphere is warm and pleasant and the specialty drinks are well worth the visit in itself. The Scorpion Bowls and Mai Tai's are unique and beyond comparasion. If you like beers, they have domestic as well as more exotic labels like Ting Tao, which is Chinese, and Sapporo, which is Japanese. The restaurant also offers a healthy variety of red and white wines to complement your dinner experiance. The appetizers and soups are both appealing and delicious and the Wonton Soup will warm anyone up on a cold evening. The most unique and defining dish is the Peking Duck. It is a dish that is without comparasion and is prepared in from of your table. The staff is friendly and the service is to the highest expectations.
